Soak a pad of paper towel with Ammonia and wipe the wiper blades repeatedly until you get most all the dirt grease and road film off. Then wet another pad with ammonia and wash the windshield thoroughly. THEN apply Rainex! This may help the bus wipers work better. Safe trip! Am enjoying the videos. Yours and your dads!
As a driver of school buses and motor coaches for the past 36 years here in Louisville Kentucky, that McDonald’s executive coach was always present at Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby. Hopefully we’ll get to see the coach at the Derby again. The backstory that I’ve been told about the McDonald’s executive coach was that it hauled corporate staff from one party event to the next. The Derby this weekend and most likely to The Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Memorial Day weekend.

Having a lot of diesel experience with a 1983 Mercedes 300D turbo, I highly recommend using a diesel additive to dissipate moisture in the tank. Diesel is not as stable as gasoline. I recommend Standyne diesel conditioner - choose from winter or summer formulas. Great job guys it's good to see this old bus on the road again... 👍

I loved the video of you guys touring the inside of this coach. It really has that private jet feel to it (likely why McD's built it the way they did). Definitely the inspiration for Vonlane (a Texas intercity luxury coach service).
I'm a sicko who loves working on MCIs. My favorite over the years were two prototype 99 MC-9s #6 & #7 production with Cat C10s and Allison World Trans in them. Ran them in the desert and mountains of Arizona with daily monitoring of the acms and learned a ton. All while doing that I had a fleet of MC9s w/8v92ddecII Bulletproof fleet when properly maintained and especially DRIVEN correctly. The world's just not the same without Big Detroits!
Well...from the other side of the pond....thats one beautiful looking machine and sounds great...well done all !! .... intrigued by the high road speeds...our buses/coaches are limited to 62MPH (trucks or lorry's 56mph)
I'm glad you guys have Ben The Bus it's a blast for road trips. The small monitor is for the right side camera, the on switch is on the small cabinet center cash below the floor switch.
Spray away has a window cleaner , that works so good it makes you want to clean windows and smells great , that invisible glass is good stuff , but if you've ever breathed it in you know how close you can come to passing out . Spray away products are top shelf . They got a leather cleaner and conditioner , again top shelf .

1if you twist the scraping wiper on your van so the blade sits at 90 degrees to the windscreen, it will be quiet.you will find the wiper blade is at an acute angle to the glass in the direction of the scraping sound. You have to use a crescent wrench as the wiper arm is quite tough to twist but it does work....
After bashing my head against the wall, I finally listened to the "old heads" and went to an air throttle. Too many linkages to get loosie goosie and ignore the driver's input, Seems to be most common on Turbo 92 engines with HT-740 transmissions. Made the change on the MC-9 in question, and it was as smooth as butter. Also worked out very well on later Eagles.
45 on hills doesnt sound out of the norm. That should be the top of 3rd gear. Enough power to run out the gear but not enough to run up through 4th. Ive spent plenty of time riding around in 3rd staring at coolant temps.
I agree but the wiper nose means your wiper blades are worn out that's why they make nose they are down to the metal nose sensor on the wipers that means replace them
That 8V92TA is a beast! About the only thing we had that would run with Mr Big Mac were the 12.1 liter 4 stroke Detriots and an M11 Cummins or 2. None of our 'smokers' ever ran that well. I feel so deprived

23:30 Tags were locking up at the last truck stop when you stopped pulling into the parking spot.
Yeah, I caught that too. BGM, when he was working on this back 2 years ago, had this same problem of the tags locking up when braking...

I stabbed it in purpose at that stop - we had the rear axle unloaded b/c of a bad rear bag - without a load it locked up.
