    Bought it used this February, base model. Face to face with seller, he had covers on the case monitor (glass protection for some reason), even charger. Removing the glass cover was stressful when it started breaking, but in the end I was left with laptop in nearly mint condition. It had 1 small scuff on the edge near trackpad and that was it. What worried me was battery health at 94%, but in real life the battery lasts so long I don't have to worry about it. Bought a dongle and external SSD. I use it to edit my 4k videos, do live stream, for remote work and gaming when I have time (Hades runs perfectly). I only miss magsafe, but other than than I couldn't be happier.

    No. It‘s design is old now, 2018.

      Keep mind M2 is £1250 and a used M1 could be £600: that’s a big difference for someone on a budget. But yeah it would make sense to go for the M2.

    I will check SSD TBW via smartmontools, especially for base 8GB model and 256GB SSD. For example my 1yr old MBA M1, 16GB RAM is at 5TBW.. daily 8+hrs in use. My wife have 6 months old base 8GB version with very light use (few hrs per week) with 4TBW so there is visible some swap usage. My gaming PC is about 8TBW/yr. So anything less than 10TBW/year of age will be good for me. I bought MacMini M1 16/512, just 3 month old with mostly 20TBW, so previous owner was doing more SSD writes per month than I do per year :) So I will avoid to buy M1 used MBA M1 base model with more than ~100TBW

    • @ZaffsProductions
      @ZaffsProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The M2 512GB model doesn’t actually suffer from the slower speed. Don’t know why they didn’t do that for the base model.
