I have to say that PayPal scam using the correct zip with a different address so then providing a delivered receipt is pretty crafty. Thanks for this video.
I still don't understand how that works. Maybe in the USA it's different but here in the UK I think it would show the door number on the proof of delivery. Not just the post code. @@amg863 When you look up the tracking number online, it won't display the full address, just the zip code. You'd have to do what Rob did and either call up the postal service or go in person to ask. My girlfriend worked for PayPal's fraud department and saw that scam ALL the time where the scammer ships like a bag of rocks to a random address in the buyer's zip code area so USPS says "delivered". PayPal definitely knows about that scam, I don't know why they aren't siding with you. Maybe get written proof from USPS that it was delivered to another address?
I used PayPal to buy something from Hong Kong it was actually shipped from New Jersey. It was junk but they wanted me to mail it back to Hong Kong. Luckily it was before the charge cleared at the end of the month with my credit card. I canceled the payment on the credit card and PayPal had to go recover the money from the scammer. PayPal buyer protection stinks. Best thing is to have a Throwdown credit card for your questionable purchases and just cancel a payment if they're scammers. My credit rating dipped about three or four points for a month and then came back when the credit card company figured out I was telling the truth. The credit card agent was really good she asked me if the scamming company would give me a return label and I said no. At that point they were very willing to cancel the payment to PayPal. Same happened to me on a Ebay item from the USA delivered to a different post cost. Same brush off from Paypay and Ebay. I took Paypay to the financial ombudsman and then won. Like you say it takes your time to do all this sorting. So some people will not bother.
I never buy anything unless I CA. Either pick it up in person or meet someone somewhere, which is the same thing. they have an insider at the ups company computer system to send them tracking details, they arent sending random things, because the tracking they used to try and scam me was not the correct date, it was dated before i even orderred so when i pointedd that out to fb i got my dough back
You’re killing me Rob.. Facebook is rife with scams because people keep falling for them 😂 I hear you though.. for the most part no harm no foul and you miss all the shots you don’t take.
Hey Rob and other TH-cam people, for the iPad thing, you need to get a letter from the post office saying it did not go to your address and upload it to PayPal. Had the same issue. Most likely they got ahold of an Amazon order for someone in your city and sent it as your tracking
Purchased a smart thermostat on eBay a couple years ago, and they pulled the zipcode trick with UPS. Had to fight to get my $$ back, but eventually did.
Once ordered truck parts, the guy did FaceTime showing he was sending the items. We received an empty box. He claimed it must have fallen out. Box was sealed. Never saw the money again.
Honestly I never even considered buying anything off Facebook that wasn’t an in person pick up. They all look scamy to me I’m more of an eBay Amazon guy
PayPal are the biggest scammers. I sold one thing on eBay and they froze my funds for six months. Once the six months has passed it was impossible to get hold of them. Eventually I got the money (£400) after 9 months of them keeping the funds
Its actually hilarious that Rob went anywhere near someone giving a 'free' $5000 piano 😂 it's so obvious. And with the headphones, you say you looked at reviews, but bought them anyway? The reviews would've no doubt said they were fake. The 4th Gen ipad air, even used is like $300, and you think you can get one with a case in box for $99? Yeesh This is ridiculous 😂 Youre clearly a person of some means - so it's just crazy to me that you feel the need to try and buy products in one of the worst market places and waste time chasing getting refunds.
It's not as pointless as you think. I recently had a similar experience on eBay, with a, idk $45 with tax for a Formula 1 poster that wasn't that big, and it looked legit. I ordered it in mid September it's almost November, still never got it. At least it was cheap, and not an essential or important purchase. Wouldnt it be smarter to send something that weighed similar to robs actual address. Then they have actual proof it was received and how it rob gonna prove what was in box unless he was smart enough to open it at usps or maybe record himself opening it? Kinda word vs word.
Rob this should be a regular thing! Buying small $ items, I think people would be surprised how many are actually the real deal just want it gone same day, plenty people tick up new phones tablets etc and then flick them off to cash buyer, Most I've had will even bring to you, seems to be people trying to get $ to pay a bill
It wastes your time more than it wastes theirs. They'll always find one fool willing to take the bait, even if they have to spend all day talking to people. It's worth it on their end. You don't need a backhoe tractor Rob!
Same thing happened to me. Googled wrench set. Cheapest same brand set cost $120. Found website that sold set for $64 free shipping too. Bought through PayPal as only choice website provided. Never received, figured it was stuck on ship from china. Contested with my credit card and they got confirmation from paylal of delivery. They declined my refund. I realized the bogus shipping confirmation listed package as 1/2 pound and wrench set weighs at least 5 pounds. They declined me again. Called card company again they said that there is nothing they can do. I asked for supervisor, he was sympathetic and refunded my $64 on behalf of bank. So thieves got there money and after a couple hours of my time and over 6 phone calls so did i.
PayPal buyer protection can be very good but I have also been in situations like this where they simply don't listen to the buyer trying to explain how they were scammed. It can be extremely frustrating. $100 might not be worth the effort, but in my case its just the principle. I'll do anything to screw the scammer out of money I worked for.
Am I the only one that notices Rob always pisses away thousands of dollars on dumb stuff or fixing mistakes but yet here we are trying to save a few bucks on headphones and an iPad?
I also was recently scammed from Facebook marketplace, I'm out 100 bucks trying to buy 4 zebra 450 printers. FYI dont buy from Kara Nicole's in Indiana haha!
As a transporter, even on high paying transports I have a maximum deposit I charge before pickup (non refundable if they cancel 100% refund if I cancel) otherwise I want Cash, but I allow my customers to decide how they want to pay. Only rule. No personal checks. And business checks only for return customers.
It's better to use your Credit card for anything over £100 as they give protection to challenge far better than PayPal as they are next to useless and it's in their best interests to side with the seller as they get paid
I never buy stuff like this for this reason. I only meet up in person and cash in hand only. Screw buying online. Way to many screw ups and scammers. =/
I buy and sell lots of things on Facebook. But it's all face to face and not far away. I look at there Facebook profile to see who they are. If they seem shady I don't mess with them.
They have to be incredibly lax with their requirements and checks because most sellers are sketchy as hell and overseas. It's the same thing that happened to Amazon. Almost everything there is rebranded Chinese junk, ordered from Alibaba with a "brand name" printed on it. Same thing is happening to FB. People expect that from Amazon, but they don't expect it from Marketplace because it was traditionally a buy and sell locally type thing like Craigslist. But that doesn't make money like taking commission from online sales, so of course it will go that way. we are witnessing the end of the buy and sell locally era
Wouldnt it be smarter to send some junk that weighed similar to robs actual address. Then they have actual proof it was received and how is rob gonna prove what was in box unless he was smart enough to open it at usps or maybe record himself opening it? Kinda word vs word.
can anyone help me? anytime I try & post something for sale on marketplace I almost immediately it messages asking if this is still available but they come from foreign people or "non local" people is thers some way to block "scammers"
I went on market place and was going buy this real nice truck and lady said she was going to the navy and just wanted to sell it here it was a scam becouse she wouldnt let me come get the truck she wanted to use a transport er people are scamming people so much its crazy

It’s about Time someone brought it up, I’ve seen so many of these in the past month.
Gotta watch for the ones where they send you a code for Google voice and want the number sent back to them
Extremely Informative Video. Appreciate it Rob👍
I paid 25 grand brand new 8 years ago for the Kubota with all the attachments now I'm in Upstate New York Hunter Mountain
Too much sweet baby rays
Beats is a premium brand. You aint getting anything for 50 bucks. FOOL.

It's better to use your Credit card for anything over £100 as they give protection to challenge far better than PayPal as they are next to useless and it's in their best interests to side with the seller as they get paid
In today's episode Mr. Spaghetti tells us how not to get scammed by some meatballs when shopping on line.
I never buy stuff like this for this reason. I only meet up in person and cash in hand only. Screw buying online. Way to many screw ups and scammers. =/
I forgot rob was still alive

There's a simple solution for all this. DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOU GET YOUR STUFF!
I buy and sell lots of things on Facebook. But it's all face to face and not far away. I look at there Facebook profile to see who they are. If they seem shady I don't mess with them.
Facebook Marketplace Gambling! I Love It
I catch scams daily on fb market and groups. I'm betting they don't do any sort of check before they approve a "vendor"
$50 is a months salary in some countries. Stop giving your money away!
Hes making this video long to make his money back😂😂 SCAM!!
Today Mr Spaghetti gets scammed so we don't have to.
Rob has the most random videos ever lol
Wouldnt it be smarter to send some junk that weighed similar to robs actual address. Then they have actual proof it was received and how is rob gonna prove what was in box unless he was smart enough to open it at usps or maybe record himself opening it? Kinda word vs word.
Thanks Rob!!!!
Always use paypal when buying stuff online, Its saved me a lot of times.
can anyone help me? anytime I try & post something for sale on marketplace I almost immediately it messages asking if this is still available but they come from foreign people or "non local" people is thers some way to block "scammers"
I went on market place and was going buy this real nice truck and lady said she was going to the navy and just wanted to sell it here it was a scam becouse she wouldnt let me come get the truck she wanted to use a transport er people are scamming people so much its crazy
RIP Tiara.
Rob is aging like fine wine
The return postage is more than these nuds cost
11:22 That IPad is way too cheap to be true. Just like the Kubota and J.Deere machines. 1/4 the price... Dead giveaway!!!!
