This was one of the BEST tutorials I have ever watched ! I wish I would have watched it two years ago when my Tacoma was new but now its going to be like getting a new truck because of all of the new things I never took the time to learn !
Great Video, thanks for doing this as I absolutely hate reading manuals unless I need to look something up. Very informative and easy to follow. This will save new tacoma owners like me a ton of time and make for a good refresher/ reference video. Thanks Again A+++
Great video. I didn't know the door key came out of the fob (or else I just forgot it . . . lol). One other thing on the key fob. You can turn off the fob transmitting by pressing and holding the door lock button then press the unlock button 2x's while continuing to hold the lock button. The red LED will then blink twice. Now your key fob will save battery and also not be able to be scanned and copied by high tech criminals. Press any button and it begins transmitting again (don't forget to enable it again when you go to enter the locked vehicle). Again, great video and thanks for making it.
Yes very helpful..i wasnt sure if line departure and bsm were same! This was big help..does more than i thought..im scared to customize and mess up anything!
Cruise stalk - pull it toward you to cancel without losing your set speed (like the on/off switch will), and without having to depress the brake pedal.

I've watched 5 or more of your videos in preparation for my Tacoma TRD Sport, and learned lots from them. I was hoping you would address remote starting the TRD and higher Tacomas in this video. I ended up finding the answer I needed via Toyota Jeff reviews remote start video. It amazes me toyota isn't more clear that most of their vehicles come with remote start. My Tacoma is on order, I have the spec sheet from the dealer and everything and still no evidence of knowing if I had remote start other than having remote connect trial on the spec sheet.
Thank you for watching. Remote start is actually not standard on any vehicles. It’s a trial period only, and on select models, then you have to pay a subscription after the trial is up. These are vehicles equipped with remote connect only.
I'm not sure if the Tacoma does this, but in my Sequoia, if you put it in reverse, you can adjust the mirrors so they point where you want them to point in reverse. After that, they will return to that position every time you put it in reverse. Note that in order for this to work, it is necessary to leave the mirror adjustment knob set to either L or R so the truck can move the mirrors. If anyone tries this, I would be curious to know if it works for you.
Awesome help. Just got mine last week. They weren't real helpful at the dealership. This is amazing. I will save for review on what I don't get the first or second pass...
Totally agree, just got my Tacoma and the salesperson is clearly getting tired of my questions, I feel so much better now. The manual is no help, too confusing.
Thank you for the video. Learned a lot. Did u make a video for more for the off roading features? I just got my truck and this is awesome - you’re awesome! Happy 4th!
Hi Brian! Just bought my new Tacoma a couple of days ago, my question is there away to map the bluetooth button to the home screen? So I'm not jumping through like 3 menus lol
great video. my Tacoma is 3 months old, and the analog gauges' backlight is completely off during daytime driving but works fine at night. how to adjust sensor sensitivity adjustment?
Hi, thanks for the detailed video, One question please, can you view previous text messages, are they stored? I accidentally deleted one off my phone yesterday, would the Gracenote have a stored record of it? There’s is a Menu tab displayed under “phone” listing History and Messages, do either of those contain a list of old text messages. My system is configured to read text messages to me as I drive. Many thanks.
Can you go over the features on a fully loaded Tacoma that are missing on this one? Crawl Control, locking rear diff, and there are models with a lot more buttons in the "buttons Near Shifter" section that starts at 15:57 in this video. This truck only has 3 buttons, where I've seen Tacomas with that panel loaded.
Thanks for the rundown. I just got a 2022 TRD Sport but I also have an extra button near the ECT Power. It's got a P with like a radar symbol. I'm assuming that has something to do with parking in reverse. Not sure what it is. Maybe it makes a sound when you get close or turns the sound off? Also, the lane departure. Mine is set to on, but when I hit the button, the light comes on. Do I have to hit the button and turn it on for it to actually work or is it always working? You mentioned it had to do with cruise control.
Nice truck. The P is parking sonar it beeps as you get closer to things in reverse. The lane departure can work without being in cruise control. That will beep when you exit your lane on either side.
Hi Brian, really liked your video, but have a question if you could help me with. I want to add an app to my radio that I somehow removed it. How can I add it back on my radio, its a 22 tacoma off road. thanks in advance.
An essential video. Thanks! The odometer button, if you turn it left or right, you can adjust the intensity of the speedo cluster lights. Can you buy a Toyota car garage switch that fits in any of the empty holes of the dash and plug'n play it somehow? (does that exists?)
Got my 22 Lunar Rock, pretty truck, my charging mat doesn't seem to be charging my iphone. Any tips? Motorcycle rider here as well, agree with lighting for conspicuity.
4H is great for tough terrain like gravel and dirt trails. 4WD should not be used in rain. Nothing will help with ice in my experience bedsides reduced speed and steady throttle. 4WD is superior in snow. I hope this helps!
@Brian Ruperti thanks for replying. I got into an accident a couple of weeks ago in my SUV and using the truck until my car is replaced. Just so nervous about driving it! This is a great video! Keep doing what you do! It was so helpful for me!
I wish you had covered the screen during daytime. I like to have my headlights on during the day, but the screen gets too dark to see. Can that be set differently?
When I try to charge my phone on the qi wireless it doesn't work it doesn't let my iPhone charge or other phones I don't know what's wrong we went to the dealer ship and it charges fines their but when we are driving or at home it doesn't let us is their other buttons to make it work or do I just have to replace the charging station
Sorry I cannot diagnose your charger. Did you use the same phone to test it at the dealer? Sometimes a new case might be too thick. Sometimes the phone may not be aligned properly etc.
My 2022 trd sport wasn't listed as having remote start but I found out by using the key fob I actually do have remote start.. what's the deal with this?
It means your truck has remote connect from the app and after the trial period is over the feature from the fob will likely cease to exist without a paid subscription.
