    Cool Forgotten Weapons merch! shop.forgottenw...
    I was first introduced to the Tinck Arms Perun X16 at Lynx Brutality 2022 in Slovenia, and it is an interesting system emphasizing modularity and simple disassembly. I opted to use one (a 5.56mm carbine) at Lynx Brutality 2023 this year, and it ran perfectly for me. So I figured we should take a look at the version that is available in the US.
    The US distributor is AEA Arms. and they offer both complete guns and also upper assemblies. For the complete guns, they adapt Kaiser USA polymer lowers (which is pretty easy). What I have today to look at is a "PDW" variant - a 7.5" barrel in .300 Blackout, with a Riflespeed adjustable gas block. Predictably, it also ran without any problems...

    “There is no point in shooting 300 BLK without a suppressor. The whole purpose is to be suppressed.” As the developer of 300 BLK, I disagree. One purpose was to have a short barrel and still have a useful cartridge using supersonic ammunition. 556 is terrible in short barrels.

    • @michaelblacktree
      @michaelblacktree ปีที่แล้ว +16

      This is a good point. The .300 BLK is basically a dual use cartridge. You can use it subsonic and suppressed, for quiet pew-pews. Or you can use it supersonic with a short barrel, and still get decent ballistics.

    Thanks. Great story & demo. For those who aren't Slavic linguists, "Perun" is the chief god in the Slavic pantheon. "Perun" basically means first, or number one, so he's Zeus to the ancient Slavs. (cf, 'piervij in Russian.)

    • @milanpracek2931
      @milanpracek2931 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      According to Your explanation Perun as the firstone or number one shoud be than called Pervin or Prvin. I mean why ancient slavs would use latin words to describe their gods. You cant explain Slavic languages with Latin grammar. Perun word etimological root is pero that is feather. Perun means the feathered one, its is just just a way to describe an eaglelike deity. Just look how many eagles are in crests and banners even today. In fact it is the opposit, many latin words have protoslavic language root, that is because Etruscans who were copied in everything by Romans were of Slavic descent. Even the language name for Latin language that is Latinščina is just a variant of word Latovščina that means gibberish, when someone speaked inncorectly was said he is speaking in Latinian that is he speaks gibberish. It is very hard to explain all this to a westerner, english Victorian and altdeutsch German historians and linguists worked very hard in 19. century to erase all the slavic traces in the basis of the western culture. Basicaly the westerners schols of prehistory and linguistics are faked.

      @@milanpracek2931 Milan, Thanks. I stand corrected, partly. Slavic V sounds frequently transition to a U sound in certain environments. I was misinformed about the origin of 'Perun' by a work associate. I was signed up to take Professor Soudakoff's class in Slavic Folklore at Indiana University in 1979, but a last minute schedule change forced me to take a much worse literature course. I accept that //pero// means feather, but has naught to do with the name of Perun, according to Wikipedia. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perun). Many European languages consider their neighbors to be deaf, or speakers of gibberish, which is what //KELTOI// means in Greek, and //NEMCI// means in Slavic. I'll admit to being puzzled by your rejectionist view of scholarship. At the time the Etruscans were in the Italian peninsula, an undifferentiated mass of Proto-Slavs was milling about some 2500 km to the ENE. The Etruscans are most decidedly NOT Slavic. Their language and culture is not well understood. The Romans believed the Etruscans to be of Asian origin, possibly like the Phoenicians. Recent DNA studies seem to confirm this: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2189563/. Have a nice day!!

      No, the chief god varied from tribe to tribe, but it is believed that he was a son of Svarog, the forge god, who, in turn, was a son of Rod, the god of creation and life. And no, Perun's name doesn't come from "first", it's indo-european related.

      @@oleksii8182 Thanks for the details. I'm really more familiar with Nordic myth & saga. "ROD" makes sense to me for the Slavic god of creation. I'll have to buy the Soudakoff text on Slavic Folklore. The various Indo-Eurpoean pantheons are all vaguely similar.

      @@neiloconnor9349 You should read something about slavic autochtony in western Europe there is much written about it mainly by Polish, Slovenian and Serb authors. Etruscan called themselves Raseni, sound familiar doesent it. Raseni simply means people of the same breed. In Spanish language even today they dont say Slovenia but Eslovenia. It is hard to study this if You are not a slavic language speaker. Many old Breton and old Brit words have slavic roots. Bretons that is french word for ancient autochton people that live on Atlantic coast call their country in their native old language Brehzc not Bretagne and slavic word for Shore or Coastline is Breg or for a small shore Bregec. Or lets say name for the German capital city Berlin. It has nothing to do with bears, It means Town in a marshland, old slavic word for Marshes is Brlja in Serbian language has the same meaning even today. I could list you thousands of linguistic examples like this but it would take hours. They simply are to many to be a coincidence. Have a nice day to.

    I think 300blk is a very very good option as a home defense weapon. You get velocity as an additional option compared to 5.56 without losing damage potential.

    I’ve been waiting for mine now for months. I’m still trying to get other rails and hand guards but cannot acquire them. What good is having a modular rifle when you cannot get any modular accessories? The same problem (in part) killed the Bushmaster ACR. Just saying..

    I TOTALLY realize you're just speaking off the cuff during the range footage but for a technical correction...
    Shouldn't the momentum be roughly the same for supersonic and subsonic 300? Or rather, depending on the load, it will often be rather close if not identical? Looking at nosler load data: 110gr @ 2180 fps max (IMR 4227 powder, 16" barrel), 220 gr @ 1100 fps (H4198 powder, same barrel) these work out to be ALMOST EXACT duplicates for MOMENTUM, double the bullet weight, halve the velocity, bing bang boom. You halve the energy in subs that have twice the weight and half the velocity, not the momentum.
    momentum P = mass M * velocity V
    kinetic energy E = 0.5 * mass M * velocity (V^2)
    if we round the supersonic velocity up from 2180 to 2200 fps these two examples have identical momentum:
    subsonic P = 220 * 1100 = 2 * 110 * 1100
    supersonic P = 110 * 2200 = 2 * 110 * 1100
    More a physics lesson for the comments browsers than anything else, good video!

  • @maximusjoseppi5904
    @maximusjoseppi5904 ปีที่แล้ว

    looks super heavy.. you know what i would like to see for something actually different. a modern PP-19 or p90 style gun that shrinks the form factor of our firearms. the magazine on an AR is such a huge dimension increase. its simple, reliable, effective but huge. basically what the p365 did for pistols, id like to see done for rifles. something that is more streamline, shrinks the gun, lightens it up. maybe get rid of the pistol grip too or have it quickly fold back while the stock folds to the side or over the top like a modern spas 12 stock. I have an RDB survival and its very cool and handy aside from the giant magazine.. imagine if that were a long thing streamlined attachment under the handguard. would be cool. may need a straight wall cartridge though so the mag can be straight. 350 legend perhaps.
    every new gun looks and functions the same... we need someone to make something unique.
