Idk why they included the twin 500 motors when they now have the crown model which is twin 750 motors and it deliver 170 nm of torque. Same price as the first bike on their list for 4000 but they chose the 3500 super monarch model. Strange eh?

Decent specs, mid-drive, and great brakes. A torque sensor would make this appeal to real high altitude enduro/downhill cyclists as a play toy. Much better than a fat tire cruiser which sends many seniors to the hospital. Here in Arizona, nearly 50% of seniors getting fat tire e-bikes make a trip to the hospital during first month of ownership.

My favorite trails are 740 miles away. What rack would you recommend for a Monarch with the fat tires or a Fray Ex Pro, the latter which appears to be more of a functional bike? I called both companies, and no reply back. Problem is that companies like Trek and Specialized no longer want to get emails about product or support although both companies are pushing "support and service." Neither have either these days but want your $6K, plus for a decent bike. trek's website admits they do not have staff to reply to emails, and prefer calls. We've bought lots of Trek's thru the years, and their dealer network and Specialized going to more of an Internet model is turning people off. Even the Trek dealers do not know their own business (some of them).
A dealer in Phoenix, Arizona has four stores, and I went to one - useless - and I tried email to located some which store several models were at given that all four stores share the same website inventory but do not tell you where the bikes are. What a turn off. I say it will be won by the company that can put out the best service and support model. A chimpanzee can assemble the bike - I know this because I trained them to operate computers at NASA.

A bike shop told me that if you want to invest in an expensive bike you want to make sure it is up to date with technology. Not only parts, but also in the tires. I have an older bike with 26in. tires.
I guess there is a push for larger tires, 27.5, or 29, if I wanted to invest in a bike to keep for 10+ years, and that I will continue to get parts for, I should look into bikes with the larger tires.
Other than fat bikes, is that true that regular 26in tires will no longer be easily available?
If so, if you could when doing a review, also include the tire size, and width, and weight of the bike as well as the difference in availability from the US vs other countries. Thanks Mo

      Explain?

    • @christill
      @christill 4 ปีที่แล้ว

continental-survivor The true value for money is buying the better quality stuff that will last and not require much maintenance. Will be cheaper overall and a more enjoyable ride as well.
I think in places where people drive short distances and there is good public transport, people will start to realise that quality e-bikes (£5k or more) are cheap by comparison. In places where things are more spread out and public transport doesn’t exist it will be tough. But even there I think once self driving comes along it will happen there too.

    • @TheRealFlyingAnt
      @TheRealFlyingAnt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Chris Till agreed, I just dropped 4K on an ebike. I think it makes sense over a 2k because it lasts years and I plan on riding a lot. Extra initial cost for greater overall experience

    • @christill
      @christill 4 ปีที่แล้ว

continental-survivor Exactly. But it also depends. My Dutch bike is not electric like my Riese & Muller and it’s just over a tenth of the price. But it’s still just as durable and perfect for riding short distances and leaving it outside. I love riding both of them.

Politicians are too lazy to introduce sensible laws for e-bikes.
E-bikes need a speed limit of about 40 to 45 MPH so they are able to
keep in the flow of normal motorised traffic flow. ESPECIALLY ON
HILLS where an e-biker limited power to 15 MPH, is going to be
reduced to 5 MPH up hills leading to a potentially DANGEROUS
situation given the impatient, inconsiderate average motorist.
Motorist are too stupid, too lazy or too fat to use e-bikes for local
journeys. Politicians and most car drivers are too stupid to realise
that the e-bikes WILL solve traffic congestion, obesity AND traffic pollution.
THEY HATE CYLISTS ! EVEN THOUGH RIDING A BIKE IS UNCLUTERING THE
    ROADS AND PARKING SPACES.
Imagine our cities where 90% of us are commuting across town by e-bike or
e-biking to and from the train station. Trains can be easily adapted
as necessary. Pollution levels and the gorgeous whether would return
to the levels we all enjoyed during the Coronavirus lock down.
Pitifully Obvious - unless you are a dumb politician. E-BIKE REGULATIONS NEED TO BE UPDATED.
SCREEM, SHOUT and E-MAILS TO JOURNALIST - POLITICIANS AND MOTORIST. (
ie your mum and dad ) TOXINS from ever increasing motor vehicle use
are poisoning us and our children. All of us are wasting thousands
hours of valuable time in unproductive traffic congestion. The e-bike
    - tandem e-bikes - e bike trailers for the kids and shopping is our
    likely salvation !
E-bikes need regulations if they are to become the most popular form of
commuter vehicle. Unfortunately Registration plates insurance and
construction regulations for safety, similar to mop-heads will have
to be adapted. Hub motors are too unstable at speeds above 30 MPH -
Mid drive compulsory - Rim brakes wear out rapidly on faster e-bikes and are therefore dangerous
    - disc brakes should be compulsory for e-bikes - Compulsory -e-bike battery
detachable to prevent theft and for recharging at work
or destination with employers require by law to facilitate. Lockable
    anti-theft tracker system - compulsory.
Speed limited by law to 45 MPH but with enough power to maintain that
speed up most hills. Motorway lanes adapted and progressively widened to provide 45 MPH e-bike and
e-recumbent bikes/trikes lanes where riders are three or four abreast
from initially using only the emergency vehicle access lane. Truck
lane 55 mph and car lanes 70 MPH.
In Life the sensible are handicapped by the imbeciles. The most common
accidents on motor bikes occurs when folks pull out in front of an
approaching motor bike because the driver didn't see the motor bike
which of course is bigger than an e-bike. I would strongly suggest
fitting a LED head light which can be set higher in daylight
preferably with a yellow cover to help the drivers see you
approaching the junction. Bear in mind older drivers have poorer
eyesight and much slower reactions. It's not much help being in the
right if your dead. At night remove the coloured lens cover and lower
the beam. We all need to scream at our idiot leaders in all countries
to adjust legislation to make e-bikes more popular. The Laws in the
UK are ridiculous. Most reasonably fit riders can easily exceed the
15 MPH limit without power assist but the same rider travelling above
15 MPH on a e-bike fitted with power assist EVEN if the power assist
is not being engaged WILL BE BREAKING THE LAW. Failing to registrar
the bike as a motor vehicle - no registration plate - no insurance -
no motor vehicle lighting regulations - not wearing a full motor bike
helmet etc................... Please copy and paste everywhere !
