@@binzhang5894 maybe I'm misunderstanding the video description part that says "We went all the way to China to ride the new $2,980 FREY CC full suspension electric commuter bike"
More weight means slower acceleration and lower top speed, worse handling and slower braking. A bike like this should be able to handle around 400 pounds. If you weigh 400 you are probably unable to ride a bike though.
Not supplied tubeless but it is tubeless ready. The wheels will take it and so will the tyres. You'd need to buy a tubeless kit for around £10 I guess to set it up.

There are so many electric bikes and manufacturers coming in and going out of business, I wonder if you will ever be able to get anything fixed after a breakdown or if you simply dispose of it and, "buy a new bike!" for $4000?
It's a bicycle, they are all made in China. Any bicycle shop can fix 90% of it. The motors are made by Bafang, which is a popular brand sold by most ebike shops in the US.
The newer 250w 'nominal' motors often put out 700w. Bafang's Ultra motor is 'nominal' 750w but will do 2x at max. What really is impressive is the 160nm torque - no other emtb motor gets close
I was looking at hardtails and they were 35kg, hopefully it's wrong,in the UK your only allowed a 250 w motor not a 1000w plus motor to pull a heavy bike
A direct drive (gearless) motor like the Golden Motor Magic Pie can be set up for regen. I built a bike with the Pie and the regen was almost a complete braking solution. It can throw a lot of current toward the battery so you want to set it up correctly.
TJ Thunder I received my hunter last month. I love the thing! I can find zero to complain about and I am a hard guy to please. I'm sure any Frey bike you get you will be happy with it.
The bike will be heavy - ~60 lbs (based on the weight of my full-suspension emtb which is similar) . You don't want the motor off. Just put it in lowest assist and it will feel/peddle like a normal bike. Frey builds a great ebike for the price but it's strictly online sales. You have to be someone who doesn't need handholding once the sale is done. Micah getting 36mph sounds reasonable, but you'll never ride at those speeds for long as wind resistance depletes batteries very fast at those speeds. Fwiw, my frey emtb with same motor (but slightly larger battery) and knobby tires will get me to ~32mph at max effort (emtb gearing isn't made for high speeds). Honestly, 30mph on a bike is unsafe around other bikes/pedestrians - you are simply going too fast and you will upset people. I put a bell on my bike, and slow way down when passing pedestrians. If my emtb is any guide, this commuter should cruise easily btw 20-25mph with moderate peddle effort for at least 60 miles (over 25mph starts seeing a lot of battery-eating wind resistance on all bikes). I never use the throttle (removed mine) - simply no need with such a powerful motor - you can put it in level 4 and the barest peddle pressure will zip you along. Level 5 will climb amazingly steep stuff with some peddling - 30% grades. This full suspension commuter with high-quality components and Bafang's Ultra motor out-classes every other commuter ebike on the market, bar none. If you're in the market and are handy working on bikes, Frey is well-worth considering. If you're high maintance, don't buy this - Frey is not equipped to offer much after-sale support - you are dealing with the factory in China which is why you get such a good value.
@@ArthurDentZaphodBeeb totally agree with you there ADZB! I've got the AM1000 but mainly use it off road. The power is undeniably very useful in real deep boggy muddy stuff. I do a lot of regular non-assisted cycling both on and off-road. On my AM1000 I can go faster and further than I ever could before. I've had 66 miles out of one battery charge on low assist levels. Off road on very muddy climbs, I'd be barely moving on my non 'e' MTB, rear wheel spinning, maybe 5-10mph at best. On my AM1000 it's like 'point and shoot'. Just incredible and supersized amounts of fun.
@@777sib I had 400 miles out of the first chain on my AM1000, which also uses the Bafang Ultra motor. I've had to reprogram my own brain and adopt a different riding style now though. Dialing in the full 160Nm of torque from zero mph in a high gear will simply eat through chains and cassettes in no time. Ride more sympathetically to the mechanics of the bike and you will go far my son! I found this out through my own mistakes. I now wind the speed up from zero by starting in the low gears and changing up as the speed builds. Adopt this method and your chain and cassettes will last for hundreds (/thousands) of miles. I do a lot of off road - you should also regularly clean and oil your chain and cassette. With the power thesde things put out, if there is grit and dirt in there it will soon grind away the metal parts much like a cutting paste. It's just common sense and I think I simply overlooked this when I first got my bike as I just wanted to be out riding it all the time in all weathers, as it's just immense fun.
Nice, thanks for sharing. I'm glad to see Frey is continuing to develop new models around the Bafang Ultra. I considered their hardtail (HT?) model but the geometry won't work for me. It still seems like they're mtb focused though, full suspension is nothing but lost efficiency for road commuting. Those fat tires and a thudbuster should give all the cushion needed for most paved roads. Also how many Ah does the battery have? ...pushing 1500w sucks the juice out real fast.
I emailed frey and asked if they had any plans of an IGH with belt drive, they replied it's something they would look into in the near future. Combine that combination with a hardtail and suspension post on the PC's geometry would be more beneficial.
Frey are a very innovative but small (growing) company. eBikeaholic - send in your dimensions to Frey and they will be able to suggest a model or frame sizes suitable. I've got a medium sized AM1000 v5.0 and anyone in the UK is more than welcome to come and have a look and/or a go on it to try it for size etc. Full sus it great on poorly maintained roads or even trails. This is where the CC excels. You can also lock the rear shock out if you are on totally smooth roads for a while, so then you've got the best of both worlds. You're right though, the hard tail with those nice big fat tyres will make the ride nice and plush. The battery on the CC is 48V 17.5ah. The Bafang controller on their Ultra motor gives you 5 levels of assist and an Eco and Sport mode. On my AM1000, even in Eco assist level 1, it is enough to effectively mask the weight of the bike whilst going up hills to allow you to ride at what one would deem to be a normal cycling speed ~15mph. Crank the assist level up and you'll be flying. I'm a member of a local cycling club and do a lot of non-assisted cycling. I have occasionally ridden with them on my eBike and Eco mode, Assist Level 1 is enough to enable me to easily stick with them. Crank it up a bit more and I'm gone!
Other than the battery and the motor, its still a practical bicycle! Whilst some have no problem spending 1000s for a vehicle they cart mostly themselves for 10s of thousands, I can get by just fine with a bike that can do all this for $3-5k tbh its truly an exciting time for early adopters, this small market is definitely going to grow. I know something this for a part-time bike courier would be a total game changer ☝🏾💯
The red Dolomite is not the same frame as the normal blue Dolomite th-cam.com/users/postUgkxTGiBQEtJDzdz-_LjtY9HyQZPzkg6s_L9 it seems to be a Hitch with Dolomite stickers and solid rims. This isn't an issue unless you are counting on the wider tire clearance of the original Dolomite. This can be hard to tell given the angle of the pics, especially on a smaller screen. The red version does have the welded seat lock of the newer Malus. If the red color is important and you're going to be doing the basic upgrades popularized on the biking forums and TH-cam; you would probably be better off buying a Hitch, getting the lighter wheels, and saving a little money. We ordered a blue and a red one and both of the bikes needed grease in the bottom brackets, hubs, and stems. No matter what, these are a great introduction to fat bikes and wrenching your own stuff at this price point.
Awesome video and the Frey CC is really interesting! Love the power, FS, components, and Red color! I am not really comfortable ordering items that expensive from a site like Alibaba though. Too bad they don't have a U.S. distributor. Also, I am 6ft with a 31" inseam and weigh 280 lbs. So, I am not sure what the max weight the bike can handle is and what frame sizes are available. I would generally need a 20" frame to be comfortable and fully extend my legs.
Alibaba will hold your money in escrow until you are happy with the outcome of the purchase - buying direct from China via AliBaba is no problem, I do it regularly for my company.
you can check this retailer store:ebikegeneration.com/?aff=139 many of my friends got their bikes from this store and they were not required to register their bikes.
Laws are meant to be broken. And its not like a cop is going to know anything about ebikes anyways. Or would even be able to stop you if you decided to ignore them and drive away.
A few years ago, Paul at EM3EV and Chris Head, at Lectric (first iteration) were arguing about the Mosfets in the Bafang BBS02. Endless Sphere. Now Bafang seems capable of blowing the Euro motors out of the water. There's not much room in the US regulatory structure for a vehicle like this. If you want to ride it down a bike path, OK, but the Cal regs don't provide for that. Why did you agree to ebike regs that left no room for the development of advanced two wheel stuff? Oh, well. Go get the motorcycle license and insurance. Beautiful bike. A joy to look at, no doubt about it.
Unless you ride like a dickhead, nobody will ever suspect this bike can do >30mph. Reality is such speeds are inappropriate near regular bikes and pedestrians. But on open sections, let it rip. You will get quizzical looks from drivers seeing someone peddling along at s nice clip without apparent effort.
@First Name Not even acknowledging ebike laws at all is irresponsible. Even if you limit the speed, some areas don't allow bikes above xxx watts, like this one.
Ffs, settle down. Every car on sale today goes faster than 99% of laws in every country except portions of the autobahn. It’s about how fast the rider chooses to go. Personal responsibility folks, personal responsibility...
@First Name and here I thought that I could assault people with my ebike and not face any consequences! I guess I'll just have to go back to stabbing people with a knife, that's still legal right?
Ok so the real question is where outside China can this bike be used legally?? With this type of motor and speeds it is above ALL class 1,2 and 3 ebike categories , so therefore can only be classed as an electric motorbike, needing type approval, lights turn signals and a registration plate and insurance, therefore massively expensive to actually do in the USA or Europe, so what is the point??
the US has state by State rules . Some states don't have much regs of ebikes with pedals . I see quite a few ebikes in pnw with regularly and clearly doing 30 + mph. it depends on the cop i guess. A dude ticketed for speeding/racing on an acoustic bmx so .. I'm betting most ebikes in china are lead acid topping out at 15-20mph as Ive never seen Tor of Juiced ebike get passed on his china test rides
Pretty presumptuous to think you can speak on the regs of all 50 states, the EU, the Middle East, Africa, etc., when you demonstrate by your comment you've done onky marginal research. My state would Class 3 this puppy.

"Consider that this commuter bike can probably handle much more rugged terrain than a lot of true mountain bikes on the market today..." I don't know what "true mountain bike" you're talking about. true mountain bikes should be able to handle rugged terrain. If by "true mountain bike" you mean any bike which is marketed as a mountain bike - not a mountain bike/commuter hybrid as this bike - including big box bikes that have small prints saying DO NOT RIDE OFF ROAD 🤣🤣, then ok. But for any mountain bike rider, "true mountain bike" has a meaning. its a proper bike that can take a beating off road and ride virtually everywhere if the rider's skill allow. including places where a 70lbs bike with fenders, kickstand and rear rack would feel out of place. but if you strip it from all on-road accessories, put mountain bike tires, it should be a decent comfortable, heavy and bulky MTB with good dual 150mm suspension and brakes. The speed and cushy ride from the full suspension and large Schwable tires is incredible. In answering the question above from mutedmonkey: The POINT is that many of us, including yours truly at the age of 68, still have a need for speed. Speed = Fun for many of us. Speeds in the 30Plus range on a light weight bike, (light compared to a motorcycle or car) is a huge kick. I personally couldn't care less about these stupid rules that limit e bikes to 750 Watts. Do you really think someone will be out policing E bike wattage ? Just maintain proper speeds when confronting walking families and be careful to slow down when losing sight lines and everything should be cool. Bike costs about $3300 with container shipping included and is probably equivalent to others in the $60000 to $7000 with the incredible motor and full suspension cushy ride.

How long does the chain works until it’s kaputt?
@@ArthurDentZaphodBeeb THX4AllTheFish!!
I want one.
Wish we could get them here in Taiwan.

Yeah exactly! I'm 6'5" & have an XL AVANTI (pile of crap) it's so tiny I've got the seat pole out about a foot!
I'm 7'8" so in your respective faces
Frey says it fits people 5'3 to 6 foot tall
Possible to buy in india??
I would love to buy this, but since it will require registration as a light motorcycle that's a no.
you can check this retailer store:ebikegeneration.com/?aff=139
many of my friends got their bikes from this store and they were not required to register their bikes.
You can always move somewhere with less overbearing laws!
Laws are meant to be broken. And its not like a cop is going to know anything about ebikes anyways. Or would even be able to stop you if you decided to ignore them and drive away.
How many cops carry a clamp meter to test the amount of current you're feeding your controller?

Don't see how this is legal in the uk, when e bikes are limited to 15 mph ?
Alibaba sells this?
Kinda China-izzy no?
Awesome. Better than a car.
Agree? Gov regs arent a negotiation like a sports contract.
With a 36 mph top speed this bike is illegal to ride just about everywhere. What's the point?
@First Name Not even acknowledging ebike laws at all is irresponsible. Even if you limit the speed, some areas don't allow bikes above xxx watts, like this one.
Ffs, settle down. Every car on sale today goes faster than 99% of laws in every country except portions of the autobahn. It’s about how fast the rider chooses to go. Personal responsibility folks, personal responsibility...
@phục êwê LMAO! Micah's dupe account!
@First Name and here I thought that I could assault people with my ebike and not face any consequences! I guess I'll just have to go back to stabbing people with a knife, that's still legal right?
@First Name put a sticker that says "750W" on it. Problem solved!

I don't know what "true mountain bike" you're talking about. true mountain bikes should be able to handle rugged terrain.
I would be more concerned by the noname wheels/hubs

Guys - took delivery of my Frey CC 3 weeks ago. This machine is everything and more than I hoped for. I have been out riding the bike every day as I can't get enough! Do you really think someone will be out policing E bike wattage
? Just maintain proper speeds when confronting walking families and be careful to slow down when losing sight lines and everything should be cool. Bike costs about $3300 with container shipping included and is probably equivalent to others in the $60000 to $7000 with the incredible motor and full suspension cushy ride.
