Hell yeah love your statement of you working hard and buying yourself a baller laptop because you both deserve it and want it to be your next long term computer.
I have been waiting YEARS for Apple to fix their notebooks, having stuck to my 2015 model year Macbook Air I bought back in early 2017. It seemed like every time Apple would release a new Macbook there would be something wrong - butterfly keyboard, touchbar, lack of ports. Finally, Apple not only addressed the issues but hit this one outside the park with the amazing processor, display and webcam. As someone who at least pre-COVID was a bit of a road warrior, I look forward to finally getting back out there with my 14" Macbook Pro (M1 Pro with 10 Core CPU, 16 Core GPU, 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage). I suspect this will be all I need as a Computer Scientist doing a PhD, as if I have really heavy workload, my other machine is a supercomputer.

This video was the first one on my homepage! I was holding out for the new MacBook Pro 16 to come out but can't justify spending the AUD$2800 considering I don't use a laptop very often, so I think I'll end up getting a base model MacBook Air :)
Sucks that people have to justify their purchase when they post on TH-cam, or else have a slew of people telling them, “You didn’t need that!!” Anyway, congrats!!
man shes pretty hot. anyway, that is a HUGE upgrade coming from an old Air. a little overkill, id prob would have gotten the 10C16GPU like i did but hey, i hope if serves her well for many years to come.

Awesome! It charges extremely fast and I am always surprised that it is finished charging! I used the computer for around 5 hours last night (homework, watching videos etc), didn't charge it, and have been using it all day today (around 7ish hours) for my daily tasks and using apps for my major and as I am typing this out my battery life is at 65%. For me, this is great as my old computer just couldn't handle doing all of this on 1 charge. Thank you for watching/commenting! :)
