This just shows to me how big of a deal was M1 Pro. I have been using my M1 Pro since February of 2022 and I see absolutely 0 reasons to upgrade to anything above it, as a full-stack developer. I am planning to keep mine until it fails.

multitasking is not about just compiling in multiple threads - it is more about our daily usecase where we have opened tons of browser tabs and others processes. Every new process can use separated core, so it should be written for parallel execution. Even if you're using Python or Node for compiling/transpiling, it also will use multicore usage scenario. So more cores - always better. But if you're using Node for building app - single core performance could help here) But this almost doesn't affect on UX :)
Great video mate, I was looking for this one from a long time because I had to make a decision and then I bought M1 pro last month however I can see I made right decision, Thank you so much, you gained a sub.
Great structure of video! You help me to make a decision by your comparison and I'm on ny way to buy my new m1 pro macbook and save the money. Awesome!
Is the M1 Pro with 1TB (new sealed pack) worth buying in 2024, if I get it for about 1550$? The new M3 Pro with 1TB is around 2800$ in India. I’m majorly going to use it for Photography stuff, with apps like Photoshop and Lightroom.
First of all, I'm not a editor. But I guess. the question is not easy to answer. No enough budget and payment wouldn't be enough. M1 pro. Expecting to have a lot of work and a good payment. Get a M3 pro. The most of improvements are related with this kind of jobs (editing videos and photos) And the end, your decision should be based on what you are expeting to do, something no complex or something complex but the time is no a problem (maybe there are no differences or maybe there is a big difference).
How long will be update macbook M1 Pro ?? I thought to buy it in 2025 for not difficult cases and making not hard video/ presentations. What do you think? I want pro because of 120 hz and better display and sound
I have the M1 Max and it’s absolutely perfect. I’ve never had a problem or had it bog down once since I got it. It does all I need and much more. When something’s perfect there’s no reason to buy something else. The only way I’ll buy a newer one is when the screen greatly improves or the battery dies, but I think that will be a while.
yes you will be more than fine. if you find a slightly future-proofed version then you’re set for the next 7 years at least. for example, i got my M1 Pro MBP in 2021 with 10 core CPU and 1TB memory. there are options out there to add sleek SD cards with another 1TB of memory. i do a lot multitasking with programming, web surfing, video, streaming, and music listening. almost 3 years later it still feels brand new.
I just ordere my M3 Pro and traded my 4 yr old Intel 10th gen and which was in pretty good shape because I hardly used it. After watching your video I'm going to cancel my order. It hasn't even been shipped yet and I wouldn't want to trade my older Mac. I'll look at an M1 or a new higher end ASUS. I'm not sure whether Asus is as durable as Apple products are but I'm beginning to see through the whole branding thing and the subtle marketing strategies where they force you to upgrade and as by freezing your customization from M1 to M3. Thank you your video was very revealing I'll make sure I share it with others.
The M3 should have significantly better battery life in low power mode at comparatively better speeds. For those doing long days of simple work w/o a charger that’s a serious advantage and for those not needing the power you can also argue that lower power consumption would give you a bit more (long term) battery longevity (lower temp and fewer cycles)
Just ordered the M3 Pro MacBook Pro refurbished from Apple for $1699, feel like that’s worth the $100 over the M2 Pro variant! It’s going to be my first ever Mac so should be an exciting machine.

M3 Max is the best laptop ever and when it's second place it'll still be great. I get a good 6 hours of battery on the highest power settings, high workflow...
I have seen so many reviews about these 14 inch MacBooks and I’m thinking of getting the previous 14 inch MacBook M2 Pro 16 gb 1T ssd.
If you can find one still in a local warehouse, Costco was closing this configuration out at $1,700
I bought a new base model 14 inch M1 MBP around Christmas back in 2022 for a nice $500 discount and when the M2 came out shortly after, I remember thinking I done goofed. But the M1 turned out to be a total beast. It handles literally anything I throw at it and I think it will continue to for years to come. I still have my 2013 13 inch MBP from college that still works okay after all that time, so I can't imagine how much longer the M1 will remain powerful. Great video!
I'm just a week away from buying a Macbook pro with the pro chip and I was searching for a video like this just comparing the pro chips in all generations (only). I'm not interested in comparing pro with max chips or anything else. Now I'm all clear that I'm going with the M3 Pro.
good choice! Just 3 weeks ago, I bought the max m3 pro 14 inch, 1TB SSD, and base 18gb ram. As an upgrade from my 2010 iMac, it is the fastest computer I have ever used. Super worth it, and I have better battery life than both my friends, who have M1 and M2 pros. I’m also using my 2010 iMac as a monitor for my macbook, to top it all off!
@@thyssenFILMS great choice. Invest in a high resolution monitor if you can. I use monitors all the time and its worth it
@@vidarshan thanks! I’ll try and find a 120/144hz 4k monitor - i’m gonna use my imac for a while since it’s 2k and can be overclocked to 90hz - but a second monitor i can’t say no too! :)
would you go for M2 pro but upgraded to 12/19 or M3pro in 11/14 as they are in the same price range ?
M3 Pro.
Hello.
I recently moved to France from Japan, and I’m currently not working. It’s been 8 years since I last bought a MacBook, but I’m thinking of getting one soon. What do you think would be the best fit for me?
Here are my needs:
• Photo and video editing (both at an intermediate level)
• Administrative tasks and daily use
• Playing Death Stranding smoothly
Thanks in advance for your advice!
Base model M4 Pro MacBook Pro.
@ yes sir
9:32 damn that input lag is wild though
I have a 32gb M1 Pro and I plan to keep it forever ❤
multitasking is not about just compiling in multiple threads - it is more about our daily usecase where we have opened tons of browser tabs and others processes. Every new process can use separated core, so it should be written for parallel execution. Even if you're using Python or Node for compiling/transpiling, it also will use multicore usage scenario. So more cores - always better. But if you're using Node for building app - single core performance could help here) But this almost doesn't affect on UX :)
They worked really hard and struck the jackpot on the first time M1 is the best others are just experiment in it as a variant
What microphone do you use when recording your videos?
Great video mate, I was looking for this one from a long time because I had to make a decision and then I bought M1 pro last month however I can see I made right decision, Thank you so much, you gained a sub.
Bro from where you purchased and at what cost ? …. Even I’m looking for M1 Pro
@@True_Man_Show Bro I got it from a local shop, it is very less used and have around 1.7 years of Apple care +.
The most of improvements are related with this kind of jobs (editing videos and photos)
And the end, your decision should be based on what you are expeting to do, something no complex or something complex but the time is no a problem (maybe there are no differences or maybe there is a big difference).
M1 was perfect time to upgrade great design change with great performance
Next upgrade cycle is probably M6/M7 with oled screen and redesign
I just bought a barely used M1 Pro 16 inch with 1200€ (98% battery health,40 cycles), did I make a good deal ? ( Europe)
Yes
Easy answer, yes!!!!!!
1tb?
@@xiaoailv 512, 10,16 cores .
An extremely good deal!
if I'm mainly coding andd planning to run virtual machines and emulator, is macbook m2 pro the best choice?
How long will be update macbook M1 Pro ?? I thought to buy it in 2025 for not difficult cases and making not hard video/ presentations. What do you think? I want pro because of 120 hz and better display and sound
I have the M1 Max and it’s absolutely perfect. I’ve never had a problem or had it bog down once since I got it. It does all I need and much more. When something’s perfect there’s no reason to buy something else. The only way I’ll buy a newer one is when the screen greatly improves or the battery dies, but I think that will be a while.
if i buy m1 pro now. will it be wise decision? as it was manufactur in 2021 which is old.
yes you will be more than fine. if you find a slightly future-proofed version then you’re set for the next 7 years at least.
for example, i got my M1 Pro MBP in 2021 with 10 core CPU and 1TB memory. there are options out there to add sleek SD cards with another 1TB of memory. i do a lot multitasking with programming, web surfing, video, streaming, and music listening. almost 3 years later it still feels brand new.
I am still very happy with my M1 Pro from 2,5 years ago. It's really fast for video editing.
How about influence of more Ram? I hit the 16GB limit of my M1 pro very easily with Lightroom editing

Good job
I have the M1 pro since begginning of year 2022 and it runs absoutely amazing now in March 2024. Best purchasing decision ever.
Just ordered the M3 Pro MacBook Pro refurbished from Apple for $1699, feel like that’s worth the $100 over the M2 Pro variant! It’s going to be my first ever Mac so should be an exciting machine.
I have an M3 pro 14 and it's great. My 2015 13" has no problem running Sonoma with open core.
I worked an entire day into night on one charge. I was tired and that's all i need.
Im using air m2 base should I go m3 pro or which one? I'm a Data Engineer and run mostly on cloud but sometimes I have to run on local as well.
i'm also a programmer and i'm a pc user 32gb ram and 1tb storage thats the requirement of my work since i have a lot of docker containers opened, and i want to transition to macbook pro, should i get the latest Macbook M3 Pro 36gb? Let me know your thoughts
Was thinking if all of these have the same battery , after 5yrs will we be able to replace the battery on our own?
Excellent job breaking down real world use -Well done!
M1 Pro with 30 cycles after 1 year. I'm still at 100% although I work with it plug in 99% of the time. no troubles with the battery management software from apple.
Beware its not healthy to have it plugged in all the time. Need to "exercise battery" from time to time.
Been using my Mac pro since 2014. I've only changed battery. Nothing else ever happened. Seems like same logic works on M1.
Which do you guys think should I buy, Where I live Macbook Pro M3 16gb RAM/512 cost $1990 while Macbook Pro M2 pro 16gb/512 cost $1412. for context would use it for an engineering course currently using a 2020 Macbook Pro
obviously the M2..
Outstanding video!! Thank you
0:42 and MacBook with M1 chip has HDMI 2.0 when the other laptops have the newer 2.1 version of it
If the purpose is to watch content and for basic use
M1 pro is enough?
and M1 pr is good for next 6-7 years?
More than enough
It's even overpowered for that! So definitely! It won't get new MacOS updates (but I think you'll still get security updates) for another 6-7 years though, I think.
I am a first year CSE student who is going to start specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from the third year. I had made my mind that I would buy a 14" M3 Pro MacBook Pro 1TB but after watching your video, I am rethinking. Could you please guide me regarding the same? I have heard that AI/ML simulations are more GPU intensive but I would like a 2nd opinion. Any thoughts?
I haven't specifically tested AI workflows yet so I'm not entirely sure (I intend to start soon). However, I would recommend going for an M3 Pro. The GPU specific enhancements like dynamic caching etc will likely benefit AI/ML workflows.
Dude. I've had my M1 Max laptop for about a year.... battery health is still showing 100% -- cycle count 16 -- This is an always on always plugged in laptop. So yeah entirely possible to find one with 100%
this is the easiest to understand video covering this i’ve watched so thank u lol
Bro, what is the model name of M2 pro you use in the video?
Can you please tell me?
Which is better?
MacBook Air M2 / 8GB / 256GB / 13.6”
Or
Lenovo Slim 7 Prox 14ARH7 14.5” Ryzen 9 6900HS RTX 3050 4GB
Just bought the base model M1 macbook pro good value.
Long battery and decent performance in office.
Thanks for this review.
I’m a video editor and I have like $1500 to spend. It’s okay if I buy a used one. What do you think?
I’ve got a sluggish 2017 intel i5 macbook pro, i think it’s time to upgrade
Great comparison. I am tempted by a M2 Pro which is about £1000 cheaper than the M3 equivalent. It's such a crazy good price and I'm glad to hear I'm probably not going to regret buying this one. Thanks again
61 years old granny thank you for making this video as I am in the market for a laptop and debating Air vs Pro.
How would a M1 Max compare to a M3 pro? That might be the value king?
Any differences in speaker quality!?
I guess the M1 pro is completely different than a M1 macbook pro because mine does not have a magsafe charger. Only 2 thundebolt
in late 2024 is it worth worth getting m1 16gbr ? Vs 8gb m2 air, for a similar price is it worth getting M1 chip to get 16gb ram?
Been using my M1 Pro since June 2022 and I really don’t see myself upgrading at all
This video helped me a lot! I was torn between the base m2 pro and the upgraded m1 pro with 10/16. I think I'm gonna stick with the m1 since it's a little cheaper
I mostly work on Figma and Photoshop and a little VS Code. I need a budget-friendly Pro version MacBook, and at the same time, I'm concerned about the OS longevity. What would you recommend i get?
Thanks for the video, I was about to hit my CC with a new M3, after this video, I think I'll keep my M1 for a while
thank you, very helpful!
Are you selling any of these macs?
is the m1 pro still good on 4k editing?
From 10:36 to 11:10. I totally disagree about this 10-15% of battery life. Currently I’m living in Ukraine, and we have at least 4 hours of blackouts every single day (I live in Kyiv). And recently (at the end of the may) I bought myself a m3 pro 14 inch mac, and his battery life literally saved my job and life. So, these 10-15% upgrade with each generation of m processors are important) I’m not criticising you, I’m just telling my opinion
My M1 Pro 32gb ram and 1tb works wonders. Probably replaced with M8 soc whenever that comes lol
That's the one i waited for
thank you !! would you go though for M2 pro with 12/19 cpu/gpu or M3 pro with 11/14?
i will insanely appreciate your help!🙏🏼
and btw which exactly configuration of cpu/gpu did you test?:)
Temps and fans for M1 Pro?
most honest man Thank you for this review.
Whoa thank you for the display of the Logic Pro tracks. I am a producer and am coming from a 17 MacBook Pro. Would you recommend an m2 pro over an m3 pro then? I use logic
M3 Pro is better but if you can get the M2 for a discount it’s usually a better deal.
Excellent breakdown, thanks!
This is a fantastic video. Thank you for your time!
