- Located in Southern Tasmania, The Point is a remote and hidden home surrounded by windswept farmland and incredible views. The architecture is inserted to sit subtly within the landscape, creating pockets out of the wind that capitalise on natural sunshine. As a remote and hidden home, The Point identifies with its wild landscape and materials were chosen to help the home settle deeper into its history.
Prepared and durably crafted, The Point enjoys the rawness and scale of the landscape beyond. As a remote and hidden home, The Point needed to harmonise with its site. Existing together in unison, the surrounding environment engulfs the structure so that it becomes one with its landscape. The light of the site is everchanging; in the fairly transparent building, light is able to reach deep down into the interior spaces and light up the stone and concrete material palette.
The Point is a remote and hidden home informed by its elemental composition and clarity of materials. The home explores five basic material elements of concrete, stone, steel, timber and glass; it was important that the materiality remained honest, detailed and deliberate in execution. Themes of compression and release are instilled within the material interplay, offering a dramatic and dynamic visual experience.
As a remote and hidden home, the structure is simple, sustainable and considered, creating a home that is open and raw in form. Its roof design, which seems to soar out over seemingly nothing, is a defining feature for the rural structure, inserting itself with a sharpness that cannot be ignored.

Absolutely. That house and place is simply breathtaking! Problem: if affordable, you have nothing around, so you have to drive into the city for everything. If you place something like this as an example in Zürich (Suisse), it is simply out of range. So dream house is absolutely right for most of us. 😎

Watching these videos have seriously made me so interested in design and furniture. I really love the look and feel of these types of houses that are immersed in nature and heavy in natural materials. I hope to one day have a house like this. They say money can't buy happiness... Well, if it can buy a house like this I'll work a little harder today.

Wtf. Who built this?!!!! It like nothing I have ever seen before. Simple breathe taking. That view Is to die for. The building just sits as a vessel that allows you experience and live in the wonders with all your humanly vulnerabilities catered for.

i'm not sure how you get these architects/owners in your interviews to speak so flowingly and clearly, but it is really inspiring of how an architectural project should be described
The visuals within this video is so captivating. I was awestruck by the contrast between the fields and the sky with the opening shot. In an instant I understood why someone wanted a house in that area. The house fits so perfectly in that landscape without detracting from the landscape and the views from within the house are beautiful. The house is seemingly so simple yet so elegant. I just say bravo . . . You make me want to move to Australia or Tasmania.

Simple but very thoughtful design. It's not just about the spatial quality, but the architecture itself enables the occupants to experience & appreciate God's creations (the landscape, the ocean & the starlit sky).

It’s interesting to see how easily these modernist pared back homes actually fit so well into any landscape- no matter what sort of terrain. They remind me a little
of the monolith in 2001 a space Odyssey- their apparent simplicity works in their favour.
Agreed. Oddly enough, straight, simple lines blend in almost seamlessly with the expansive nature around the house. This channel and another one called Archipro, which focuses on NZ projects, show such houses every now and then. It really makes you want to move there!
Because they are soulless, and look like something you could find anywhere else in the world. The views are absolutely incredible but this house is so impersonal, cold, and characterless. I'll take a 500 year old house over this without thinking.
@@aumenarys that wasn't their point though. The original comment expressed how this simplistic house fits well with the environment, it becomes almost invisible. Other kinds of houses, more traditional ones for example would look a bit too much on this landscape.
