  • Koh Kut (also spelled Koh Kood) is a relatively unspoiled island in the far east of Thailand. It’s near the border with Cambodia and is part of the same island chain as Koh Chang. It is home to some amazing white sand beaches, all along the west coast of the island.
There isn’t one beach that everyone will agree is the best beach on Koh Kood. I will give you my list of what I feel are the best beaches on the island. They’re all worth visiting, hop on your scooter, take a look and decide for yourself.
    Klong Hin beach
400 meters long and with just a couple of locally owned and run bungalow resorts, it’s off the beaten path and an ideal spot to do nothing for a couple of days. The budget resorts - Klong Hin Beach Resort and Montana Hut are popular with package tourists. Access is via the same road that leads to Takian beach, and then you follow a dirt trail through a coconut grove. This is an awesome location and the beach is something you would see on a post card.
    Takian beach
South of Bang Bao the shoreline begins to face southwest, so the beaches get more of the prevailing winds and tend to have a more windswept feel about them. The sea is often rougher and on the undeveloped stretches of beach garbage, washed up from the ocean, accumulates. Takian ( Takean ) beach is another picturesque bay with some rocky outcrops breaking up the sand. Access is via the dirt track that isn’t marked at all. The road is easily navigated by scooter or songtaw and you will be happy when you reach this beach.
    Bangbao Beach
A stunning horseshoe shaped bay. This is one of the most popular beaches on the island with a range of accommodation and some very good snorkelling. It’s an idyllic spot.
There are several piers on this beach that you can catch speed boats to Koh Chang or for a diving/snorkeling tour. The sand and water are also amazing.
The only downside is that at high tide most of the beach disappears underwater. On the main road nearby there are a few good restaurants plus a couple of minimarts.
    Klong Chao beach
Klong Chao is now the tourist center of the island. A beautiful stretch of sand with the ideal mix of luxury beachfront resorts plus more budget accommodation on the main road and river estuary a 5 to 10 minutes walk away. You’ll also find find a handful of small shops, restaurants and an ATM. But unlike Koh Chang’s beaches you aren’t inundated by souvenir shops, tour agents, tattooists or massage shops.
There are many other beaches on the island to see. They all have good and bad points. These are the beaches that I found the most enjoyable after spending time to visit all of them by scooter.
Koh Kut is an amazing place to visit and I would recommend to anyone.

These beaches are all very nice. They are as good as any on Koh Chang. I made a video of the top 4 beaches there also if you want to see them.

Hi, I enjoyed your video and its methodical presentation. I'm a distance swimmer and over there around mid to late April and wondering if you could comments on how swimable it is at the time? Thanks in advance!

Glad you enjoyed the video. I’m not sure about how swimmable it is at that time of year. I just left the island of Koh Mak on Sunday (it’s the island right next to this one) and the seas were very rough.
Here is the link to the snorkeling trip we did if you want to see what it was like.

@@endlessjourneytravels How do we get to the Island btw?? Where would be the Ferry Point??

@@udayjohn5623 you can get to the island by ferry from Trat or by speed boat from Koh Chang. I made a video from Trat to the ferry and what it’s like. Here is the video of that.
How to get from Trat to Koh Kut (Koh Kood) - Thailand 2023

If you drive it’s the same as how it was for me on my motorcycle. You can also take a songtaw from the bus station in Trat and they take you right to the ferry pier. In the video of getting to Koh Kut (in the description) I included a link to the ferry companies. Make sure you book it at least the day before or they might be sold out and you would have to spend another night in Trat. This was my first time to the island and the ferry part of the trip always worried me so I went to Koh Chang instead. After going there I really didn’t need to worry about it since it’s really pretty easy.
So a quick break down bus/car/motorcycle to Trat
Drive or songtaw to the ferry pier about 30 Km from trat (Laem Sok Pier)
Take a ferry from there to Koh Kut (about 60-70 minutes costs 350-700 Baht depending on time and company)
Ferry includes hotel transfer from Ao Salat on Koh Kut to your hotel.
      I hope this helps.

What Time / Month ( asking because of people and weather) of year have you been to Ko Kood? January, February?

I have been here only one time in May but I have been to Koh Chang probably 50 times. Koh Chang is one of the neighboring islands and is in the same weather pattern. The best weather is December to February. This part of Thailand is in the top 3 for most rain so you could get a lot of rain. Generally if it does rain it rains in the evening for a little bit and the days are nice. I hope this helps. If it was me I would book it. Here is a link to monthly rain that might help.

As far as crowds the island is not crowded at all. Just make sure you have your ferry tickets booked in advance because they can fill up. In my getting to Koh Kut video I show some of the ferries if you want to see what that is like.
