A Thai Island PARADISE All To Ourselves (Koh Kood): Best Beaches, Street Food And Fun Things To Do

  • Koh Kood (Koh Kut) is one of the most idyllic islands that we visited in Thailand and we loved its relaxed vibe and very beautiful beaches. It's safe to say that Koh Kood has become one of our favourite islands in Thailand.
    Koh Kood is more of a hidden gem when it comes to islands in Thailand and it was never the bustling tourist destination that Koh Samui or Phuket are.
    That's why we were excited to come here, as we were expecting a quiet paradise island. And that's exactly what we got! Of course also due to the current situation in the world, we had many parts of the island almost all to ourselves. Especially the beaches were very empty, which was almost a bit overwhelming.
    In this video:
    0:00 Start - We're on Koh Kood!
    0:57 Our Koh Kood exploration plan
    1:48 Checking out Bang Bao beach
    3:28 Checking out Ao Tankian beach
    5:05 Driving to Secret beach
    7:16 Trying street food on Koh Kood
    10:14 Klong Chao waterfall
    11:14 Checking the Mammoth trees of Koh Kood
    Koh Kood Beach Review:
    We spent most of our time relaxing, checking out the different beaches, eating street food and visiting other attractions on Koh Kood, such as waterfalls.If you're planning on visiting Koh Kood, here are our thoughts on the beaches that we visited:
    - Bang Bao: probably our favourite all around beach. It's got very clear water and is very windstill as its bay is protected from both sides. It's a bit more on the commercial side, but that also means quick access to drinks and even massages. We also did some light snorkeling here, which was nice.
    - Neverland beach (Ao Jak) was our second favourite beach. It's quite secluded with two cafes that belong to resorts. It can get more windy here, so the water is maybe not as clear as at Bang Bao, but it's still very nice. The water is quite shallow, so this makes for a nice place to hang out in a bathtub-atmosphere.
    - Secret beach: This is a more "wild" and very pretty beach, but harder to reach and soon home to a large resort. It's very secluded, as long as there aren't any tour groups there that come there by boat. There are two beaches at an angle that are connected at the tip and it's very idyllic.
    - Ao Tankian: Very secluded beach even though it's next to a resort. Not as pretty as the other beaches, but there wasn't anyone around, so it was a cool experience to watch the sunset here.
    - Klong Chang beach (Tinkerbell) is where all the main resorts are, such as the Tinkerbell resort. The water is nice and turquoise, but the beach is narrow and it's only really a lot of fun if you're also staying in a resort there.
    All in all we loved the beaches on Koh Kood and there's definitely something for everyone here. We can also recommend checking out the mammoth trees on the island, which were impressive.
    What's next?
    We'll be spending a few weeks in Thailand, before continuing to our next country in Asia, which will probably be Sri Lanka. And then? We'll see!

    Just been there. Little less empty but still had some waterfall and beaches for ourselves. 3 week hanging around the 3 islands here is very different from how we normally travel (more focused) but we are loving it

    I subscribed to your channel right away as soon as I heard you picked up the trash on the beach. So cool! Besides the littering from the tourists, the waves bring in the trash from the sea as well.

    • @ZoeandSimon
      @ZoeandSimon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks! 🙂 Yeah a lot of it comes from the sea, which makes it so hard to keep a beach clean for more than a day. That's why it's extra difficult to understand why people then also leave their food and drinks containers on top of that 😅

    If you could pick between Koh Kood and Koh Chang which would you go for? Heading to Thailand in a couple of weeks and have time for 3 days on one of them. Great video by the way!

    • @ZoeandSimon
      @ZoeandSimon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That depends on what you're looking for in an Island. Koh Kood is the place for beautiful and lonely beaches (they are more scenic than the ones on Koh Chang), but it's a bit harder to find places to socialize and meet new people. It all feels a bit more remote there.
      If you're looking to meet people, Koh Chang might be the easier option, although it's also not a typical party place. On Koh Kood you might have to ask around a bit and stay in the right area (there wasn't much going on where we stayed). Still, as a couple, I think we would go for Koh Kood if we only had 3 days! Hope that helps! We're sure you will have a great time either way 🙃

    Can I please ask how was food experience? If we want to stay for 1-2 weeks there, are street foods as versatile and affordable money wise, compared to bangkok and othere islands in Thailand?
    Thank you very much for your sharing your experiences💞

    • @ZoeandSimon
      @ZoeandSimon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don't really know what it's like on Koh Kood at the moment, as we filmed this at the beginning of the year. When we were there you could definitely get street food all over the island, but there's much less variety than in the cities we visited. It was mainly a few stalls along the main roads, but we didn't find bigger street food markets. This could have changed however in the past few months. So we wouldn't go to Koh Kood specifically for the street food.
      Many restaurants however also sell dishes that are quite cheap (depends on what you're used to of course), but all in all you'll probably find enough to eat for one or two weeks.

  • @swjimmy72
    @swjimmy72 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes indeed, the secret beach or Klongjao Han or Klong RaHan beach is the top of Koh Kood, pity the new resort coming up (bungalows are just too close from one to another and I ou;d reckon that the noises couldn’t be concealed at all) last time we were there, Soneva has been leasing the end part of the beach and the security guy was stopping us to go any further, I told him that no one owns any beaches in Thailand unless they show me the deed and I shall oblige. We carried on to the service area and we were refused for the service of any drinks nor snacks (this is understandable, exclusively for the resident guests. Have you been to Ao Prao Beach? Of course, the access to the beach must pass thru the Ao Prao resort with the sign at the entrance ”This is the private property” but the owner is very kind, she is the second gen from her father and been on Koh Kood since the beginning. Ao Prao is also fascinating like the secret beach, coming very soon, the big chain tycoon “Central:-Centara Hotels” bought and became the owner of the beach next to Ao Prao. Am from Trat and I could not see anywhere like Koh Kood. The grilled stick you had is indeed the chicken liver, and just next door to the noodles shop is the rice (to order) runs by a bit aged lady and her cooking is one of the best and another is a small shop opposite to the police station next to the only bank on the island. Reasonable price for what you can get on Koh Kood when compared with Samui, Phuket or so.

    Ich finde eure Videos klasse und mag euren Stil! Ich kann aber nicht umher, einen Verbesserungsvorschlag dazulassen. Seid ihr bereit fuer harte Liebe? OK. Bitte etwas weniger nuscheln und etwas weniger jovial, dafuer etwas mehr Lebendigkeit im Gesicht! Stellt euch vor, ihr erklaert einem kleinen Kind ganz geduldig und langsam etwas und versucht dabei, es durch eine ausdrucksstarke Mimik zu motivieren. Versucht, Freude zu verspruehen.. natuerlich nicht uebertreiben. Ihr koenntet auch noch vielleicht am Ende einen kurzen Ausblick darauf geben, wo ihr als naechstes hinfahrt. Ansonsten, macht weiter so und noch ganz viel Spass in Thailand! Viele Gruesse!

    I hate people making videos of this ( my ) paradise island. 😆😆😆😆😆. I dont want the world to hear or see about it. I have never felt so lovely in my life in my 2 weeks there. Stop your videos right now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
