    To turn off DFM drive in manual and shift to 1 gear lower than whatever speeds your transmission is 9 for 10 speed and i think it works with 8 speed in 7th also

      I added the Pulsar LT after this install. Now it runs perfectly.

    Why do you think that some people report worse gas mileage after installing this? The majority claim they got a little better gas mileage. Do you think because people floor it more once its installed? Thank you!

      I’ve done three of these on three different trucks and always got better MPG. However it seems the best results are on NA V8’s. Anything other than that may have mixed results. And yes it does sound and performs better encouraging a heavier foot.

    I appreciate the math but nobody buys an intake for cost savings in a gas guzzling 6.2.
    My 2023 ZR2 - it’s fun, not practical

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. The math is just there for those that want it. You get a 6.2 because it’s a 6.2!

    In canada fuel is around 5.5 to 5.9$ per galon

    Any impact on the exhaust sound? If yes by how much as percentage?

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definite change in the exhaust note. Maybe 10% louder. It’s more of a throaty sound than a volume increase.

    I have the 2.7 Liter elevation sierra 2022 as it was all the dealer had in inventory for a 1500. Its a dog getting moving and sounds terrible compared to my old 17 Denali 6.2. Maybe Ill try this.

      Nothing will help a 4 banger other than trading it in. As a owner of several v8 Chevy trucks anything less than the 5.3 is an abomination. I have the glorious 6.2 Yukon Denali and nothing compares to dropping the hammer in a naturally aspirated v8.

    Thanks for the video. I want to get this for my ZR2 once it arrives. Do you recommend the K&N over other brands? Also, here in CA gas prices are pushing $7.

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors

      Just get a quality system. Stay away from the cheep systems. There are other brands that are good, I’ve just had good luck with K&N.

    A 5.3 intake will fit a 6.2 ??

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes for this kit. Come with 2 intake couplers to fit on either the 5.3 or 6.2.

  • @lmarcu91

    Whats worse is having to run premium in the 6.2s my fuel bill is horrendous. Makes me miss my 5.3

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      According to the manual, premium is recommended not required. It’ll run at its full potential with premium for sure , but I run regular with no issues. Saves on the wallet a little bit.

    • @lmarcu91
      @lmarcu91 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@tommysgreatoutdoors While it is recommended over time that will more than likely cause damage to your engine the ECU can only retard the timing so much to compensate for a lower octane fuel. The 6.2 has quite a bit more compression than the 5.3 which is part of the reason they are much more powerful. If you paid extra for the 6.2 it is definitely recommended you run the right octane. I have a friend that works at a Chevy dealership that sees plenty of 6.2s in for this reason only to save a few dollars at every fill up.

    Did the system throw a code in your truck? I’ve got a 2019 classic body. I installed the K&N system and it threw a check engine code. But it sounded so amazing 🤤.. I had to take it out cause I can’t stand looking at the check engine light.

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors

      No codes. Have about 10k miles on it now. Still works like the day I put it in.

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Frank, that’s something I didn’t consider. Before I installed mine (can be done at any time) you can turn on/off the air filter reader in your driver info screen. See if that helps.

    Great video. Thanks for posting. I installed the same intake on the refreshed 2022 Trail Boss 6.2L. At 2700 miles the check engine light came on. I went to a local Chevy dealer and they said I had to take it out and put the original back in. Said too much air was messing with MAF sensor. Why couldn't they recalibrate the sensor?

    • @jezone3193
      @jezone3193 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @lmarcu91
      @lmarcu91 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the job of the maf to help determine the correct amount of airflow and fuel mixture for the engine. They told you incorrectly it sounds like.
