    Thanks for the comparo. Very interesting, but to be fair 21 pitch and 19 pitch props are different animals. If your original prop was 21 pitch and the same diameter, then the comparison would be apples to apples. I have decided to stick with my aluminum propeller after seeing your video since it is half the cost, and better performance on the 21 pitch comparison which honestly surprised me! Thanks again.

      Glad it helped. The whole purpose was to look at three popular but different props and compare them. I do have another video coming up where I will compare the exact same prop, but in a different pitch (19 v 21).

    Hi Tommy the pay load of a truck is with nothing in it. So your tank of gas and you in the truck comes off the payload as well.

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In the video I counted the weight of the driver and any passengers in the example calculation provided. As far as the fuel, in my case the GVWR is 7,000 lbs and the curb weight is 5,449 lbs. leaving a payload of 1,551 lbs. According to my vehicles owner's manual the curb weight includes fuel and specifically states that the payload should only include passengers (including driver), cargo and luggage, and trailer tongue weight. It's a really good point and I wish I called that our in the video. Thanks for the comment.

    Looks pretty neat. Given the environment hitches operate in, especially for those that tow year round, I wonder how long that mechanism will continue to work?

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's a good question and will be part of my review process. I just completed a long tow test of 1,200 miles and also left the hitch in the back of the truck to roll around for 300 miles on local roads and gravel trails. I'll have that video up in the coming days.

  • @Good-luck-Jonathan
    @Good-luck-Jonathan 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Great video. Is that your original wheels and tires as any additional accessories will change your payload capacity. I’ve currently switched over to antigravity lithium ion batteries to save additional weight because I’ve been adding accessories. I’ve also installed an off-road aluminum bumper to save some weight as well with a big heavy winch in the front.

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's definitely one of those engineering debates for sure. You are correct. From a vehicle gross curb weight, I've probably added around 100 lbs. of additional weight with the wheels and tires. I was in automotive for 20 years and the engineers would argue that although the curb weight increase, the wheels and tires are supporting the suspension and not the suspension supporting the wheels and tires. then there was the whole power and brake to weight ratios...lol. In any case it's a good call out for anyone watching this video. Appreciate it.

    Hey there! Just a quick heads up, I've noticed that some people are having a few issues with the check engine light after installing the factory mirror spotlights. Do you happen to know at what speed the spotlights turn off when you shift into drive? I'm guessing it's around 5 or 10 miles per hour, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm seriously considering doing this upgrade, so any insights would be really helpful.

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors

      Hi there - no check engine light for me. I’ve had these on for around 2 years. If you don’t disconnect the battery you may get a temporary BCM code, but that’s about it. I don’t remember but I thought the lights only came on when in park.

    I did this with my older lawn tractor too. There are some obvious weak points where the frame and transaxle bolt together that must be addressed for the longevity of the transaxle by welding in reinforcement. I also added a front receiver hitch so I can push my trailers in exactly where I want them without the need to look over my shoulder. Again, reinforcement is key if you want the tractor to last.

      No need to change anything on the graph. The Y cable is a physical separation of the wires to each transducer. If it’s not working as expected. 1 double check all connections. 2 verify you have the correct Y cable (there’s more than one and you may have the wrong one). 3 check the height of the transducer and adjust as needed.

    Hi Tommy! Sorry for the long question. I just want to add a 12v cigarette lighter socket to my 1985 Honda Civic. My question is i saw in the fuse box diagram that i got a Clock/Cigarette lighter slot and currently it has 15amp fuse in it (im not sure why, yes i do have a digital clock on dash, but no factory cigar lighter socket installed in it. Even in the manual handbook there's no factory installed for this model. That's why i would like to install one for charging phones, or other accessories, aside from the coolness of having a cigar lighter itself). So if i will remove that 15amp fuse, and insert a Fuse tap to replace it on that slot - i understand that i should insert the original 15amp fuse that i removed earlier to the fuse tap, but then shall i put another 15amp for the cigar lighter socket? Or should be just 10amps? (i dont want to cause smoke/fire/electrical damage when im charging a phone or engaging the cigar lighter).. what is safer as the tapping fuse - 10 or 15amps? Also where should i put the cigar lighter socket's fuse, from your video - it should be on the side of the tap's prongs? Last question would be will an 18 AWG wire good for this install? Or what is better Sir? Thank you so much!

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello - The fuse tap has two positions. The position furthest from the wire on the tap will govern the original 15A circuit. Then add your new 10A fuse to the other open position. 18AWG at 12V should take the 10A.

      By the way Sir, i understand that the Fuse tap wiring will be wired together to the 12v cigar lighter socket's positive (red) wire and the negative (black) would be screwed to the chassis ground. Now, if the 12v cigar lighter socket that i would add has already a 10amp in-line (bulb) fuse included on the red wiring - would it be ok if the fuse tap has the original 15amp blade fuse plus the 10amp additional blade fuse for the 12v cigar lighter socket? Making it one (1) 15amp blade fuse + one (1) 10amp blade fuse both inserted on the Fuse tap's head then still another one (1) 10 amp bulb fuse included on the positive wiring of the socket? Would there be lot of fuses already? What shall i do then? Thank you Sir

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your new 12v adapter has a fuse already, then it will just be double protected if you use this method. It won’t hurt anything.

    • @PinoyCanadian017
      @PinoyCanadian017 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tommysgreatoutdoors Thank you Sir. I'll wire the fuse tap to the red wire of the 12v socket, then the negative (black) wire of the 12v socket il wire to a chassis screw, then insert the original 15amp blade fuse to the holes parallel to the fuse tap prongs, then the new 10amp blade fuse to the holes parallel to the fuse tap wiring. Next Il use a 12v light meter tester to test the fuse box's positive hole. Il insert the front prong of the fuse tap (with the wire on the left) on the hole where the tester lit up. Il retain the in-line 10amp bulb fuse on the red wiring of the socket as you said double protection. Then turn the ignition ON and see if the lighter socket works. What do you think Sir? Thank you!

      The -18 offset is closer to 1.5 to 2in. If you would like to get closer to 1in maybe look at -12 offset. I took some footage of the wheels and tires towards the end of my video if that helps.

    Really solid video! I’m about to purchase me a 2021 Chevy Silverado. Is there any good phone mounts for iPhone you’d recommend?

      I am hearing good things about bullet point mounts, but have not tried them myself yet. Wil probably get one at some point.

      @@tommysgreatoutdoors appreciate the feedback I’m not normally a truck guy but I always wanted one and this time I think I’m going to do it!! I’ve been driving my brain crazy watching videos on ford and Chevy trying to decide which one I want I’m leaning more towards the Chevy just based off the style of the 2021 Silverado

      @@bigmike3007 both Chevy and Ford make a good truck. Personally I’ve had really good luck with Chevy. I also prefer a V8 over an eco boost, but that’s just me. Check out some of my other videos. I recently lifted the truck and added tow mirrors.

    You need a hitch or bump step protector in the hitch. Trust me, it's well worth it. The feds mandate any frame damage on any vehicle a total loss. I lost a perfectly good Silverado to that just because some idiot hit me from behind. Total loss on the truck. Don't risk it. Get something in that hitch to cover you from a minor rear-end accidents. With the costs of trucks, these days. BnW makes a hitch or weather tech bump stop. Cheap compared to a 50k and up replacement hassle.

    Looking for on update on the paint or powder coating on the tips. Did they hold up? Any peeling?

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So far they have been on for about a year. Coating has held up good, the inside of the tip has lost a little. Still pretty happy with them.

    No issues with venting the back of the fridge?

    • @tommysgreatoutdoors
      @tommysgreatoutdoors 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not at all. in my case there is a few inches of room between the back of the fridge and the wall. Also the hole I left at the top for the power strip lets some air in. Second season and so far no issues. Happy Camping!

      The flapper valve will restrict exhaust flow to try and keep the truck quiet.

    Hello, just came across this video for a project I’m doing on a 84 jayco pop up. Your camper looks very similar to mine and I’m looking for a hidden vin since my camper does not have a title. Do you know where the vins are located on these? Thanks!

      That’s a good question. I don’t think I can find one on mine. I only have it from some old paperwork. In my state of WI I am under the weight needed to title and plate.
