The only CEO in the world that would be okay with a video being publicly shared that included awkward moments with him in them. Kudos to him for not taking himself too seriously. I don't think he's BS-ing when he says that he manages to keep himself grounded through reading e-mails and listening to what people want.
Don't forget, there is still such a thing named global pandemic, look at the first guy and how he seems like he wants to hug Gabe. Also it's cut material, perhaps some offered him something.
This man, for being such a revolutionary person, seems so human. It's like he doesn't know the change he's made for the entire world, it's like he's just a random indie developer with a small community, he's so with his community its so wholesome I love Valve.
I think he is just aware that it could be anyone who had the right vision and the right team, like the one Theroie that if you let an ape write infinite at one point its possible we will write down how the univerese was created, just by smashing the buttons randomly. (cheaply explained, hope you understand) and just wants to do stuff he likes, a truly good guy
Gaben's transformation into Santa Claus is coming along smoothly. Now he even delivers gifts! He's going to have to work on his calendar though, it's a few months late.
For all the pitfalls Valve suffers with, Gaben still remains the greatest CEO in the industry. I emailed him a while ago when I ordered the Index and it arrived with a broken tether, he got back to me and asked for my shipping info so they could send another free of charge. Absolute G.
Props for including all the reactions, from stunned silence to 'Why aren't you leaving?' Gabe seems like the type of guy who actually would like to hear what you think, as opposed to just saying it to sound good.
It’s funny that some people are just non-plussed. “What’s with the camera crew?” I love how Gabe is truly excited about the launch and interested in what consumers think when they play it.
Nonplussed means, surprized and bewildered. For some reason some Americans use it when they mean unperturbed or indifferent. Don't know why it bothers me so much, same when people say " I could care less" when they mean " I couldn't care less" or "I ain't done nothing" when they mean "I ain't done anything" ... Everytime Gaben says Deck, I can't help but imagine that he's just giving people his old bulk rare yugioh cards that are in rows of 40-60 card decks from back in the day.
Not a lot of people are talking about this but, they have massive cinema cameras to record the video, and recorded on what appears to be a flat color profile but never color graded it. man watching this a year later after the steam deck released and delivered... i'm so happy i was able to order a OLED Steam Deck bc he's awesome and the company itself is great. they actually deliver on their products. they could've charged an extra $100 on top of the current $550.00 USD listing price for the OLED 512gb model but they didn't. and they are always improving their software and hardware like this ... i'm happy to give them my money. great people at Valve!
I remember Gabe personally emailing me back when HL2 came out after I sent Steam an email because I was having trouble with my account trying to get the game installed. He apologized about the issues and said they would get better (they absolutely did, when I did an account recovery several years later it took only a couple minutes), and hoped I enjoyed the game. After playing it I responded with my thoughts (obviously great, HL2 was epic) and he thanked me for my feedback. Gabe is awesome.
Yeah if he would had mentioned that he actually owns valve and was worth millions/billions of dollars, suddenly the women customers that bought the deck and barely even knew who he was would be like "oooh you work at valve and make a lot of money 😍😍😍 sugar zaddy yaaas"

I think it’s more common than you think, an example that springs to mind is tim cook at apple, he reads most of his emails and even responds to a fair amount. Your main job as a CEO is making sure your company is headed in the right direction, and reading direct feedback like that is probably pretty helpful.
Most companies usually have employees sift through the emails about feedback / customer input instead of going directly to the CEO. I didn’t know that about Cook that’s dope he does that.
It's just so jarring seeing a billionaire ceo so grounded and interacting with his customers / community, and even asking personally for their feedback. Gabe is seriously a diamond in the rough. I hope he inspires many leaders moving forward to not lose touch with their humanity and stay grounded within their community, and more importantly, the real world for 98% of people.
hes the last of the fucking moheecans. Gabe Newell reminds me a lot of Dana White with the UFC.

I hope he inspires many leaders moving forward to not lose touch with their humanity and stay grounded within their community, and more importantly, the real world for 98% of people.
hes the last of the fucking moheecans. Gabe Newell reminds me a lot of Dana White with the UFC. Both have played a huge hand in developing the sport/gaming to mainstream audiences and when they die I think Steam will become owned by a board of chairmen and UFC already sold to WME-IMG which has made the shit seem like a normal sport.
they dont deserve it as much as a straight male does tbh since they change on mindsets all the time and plus it was only for the publicity that gays were the only ones to get it in this comercial sadly.
he is literally a god
@@nicolasraymond6457 wtf?
@@nicolasraymond6457 what??
Gabe: "hopefully people wont get mad that im signing them"
Me: going the extra mile and breaking into one of these guys houses just to get a signed copy of a steam deck.

You're 2 steps behind, I'm already in their walls

@@ThatManOverThere damn bro, and here I was posing as GabeN.
Gabe seems like such a fun guy
Memes aside, Gabe is really the Santa Claus of gaming industry where he actually tries his best to care for gamers. I just hope he’s having a great day. although I know there will be tough times but I just hope he will improve the way we game.
Well besides Tf2 players
@@mrpie2883 shhh
"he actually tries his best to care for gamers."

Pretty much my thoughts, lol.
Gabe is clearly such an awesome dude, I once emailed him asking how to pronounce "Chell" just to settle a debate between my friends and he actually took the time to answer me even though it was super dumb and silly.
I won that debaye, in his words it's, 'Ch as in "cherry" and rhymes with "shell."'
How did your friends pronounce Chell? I don't see any other way than the one you (and GabeN) pronounce it lol.
@@Jokerthief7 Like "shell" as if it were short for Michelle.
@beef business Well yes, but in a line that went unused, which was probably what rhe entire debate was about
@beef business Also the ending song. The big turret says her name while singing in Italian.
Dude it’s stuff like this that makes Gabe Legendary. I wish this man was immortal.
I truly do fear the day he retires or passes away unexpectedly.
