I love this game, maybe it’s just nostalgia of being a kid in the 90’s with a this game, but I cannot wait for the remaster to come out later this year.
That is crazy that you only have melee attacks but can’t touch enemies. Also crazy, but in a good way, is that there was a clamber mechanic to catch edges. Some modern games don’t even have that!
Now just wait to see croc 2 remake and remastered in console and pc croc 1 and croc 2 for Game boy color versions ported to switch online and croc Legend of the Gobbos and croc 2 of ps1 versions ported to PS plus premium on ps4 ps5 and Playstation portal
Just so you're aware, the Saturn version has a glitch that forces you to start the game from the Saturn's menu (the CD music player) or else it doesn't work right if you do a straight start.
Okay where does that footage come from when they show you going inside Robbit from J'umping Flash at 0:27? Oml that completely reimagines the HUD to my mind
I quickly bought a ps1 black label copy with manual when I saw they're going to release a remaster. I predict that the price of croc is going to spike af
I tried to beat this game back in the day one the PS1, I don't know the reason for dropping this game, I guess I was just uninspired by the level design, the levels too samey and boring but I know for sure what really killed my interest in this was that bigger and better games came along that drew my attention like Gex and Super Mario 64, not to say that Croc is a bad game but levels that take place in a open void or closed off walls with such simplistic geometric paths, that does grow on the tedium for a bit, especially for a kid with loads of options.
Back in the day with some types of games I felt consoles get the better ones. PC titles felt sometimes like a cheaper knock offs. I think that was especially the case with platformer games. I experienced Croc on PC and I didn't even know there are console versions. It wasn't as packed and polished as Crash, but hey, it was on PC! Another such game was Kao the Kangaroo.
So argonaut used to work for Nintendo after they had modified a Gameboy to play 3D games and were hired by Nintendo to did Starfox 64. They were one of the first companies do to 3D platforms. Argonaut pitched the idea of a 3D yoshi game for the 64 and Nintendo didn’t like that and got rid of them. Argonaut continued making games and started using that idea but changed yoshi to croc and while they worked on that Nintendo took the idea of 3D Yoshi, along with the knowledge of 3D platforms argonaut passed along… and made Mario 64. As much as I love super Mario 64 I’d say it’s heavily a rip off of croc.
How do you figure? What did Nintendo rip off? Super Mario 64 was released an entire year before Croc was. Banjo Kazooie was in development under the "Project Dream" title since 1995.
@@ReallyCoolGuy6969 Because the developers of this game originally wanted to make this a 3D Yoshi game, but they said no. That's why it feels so early N64 in parts.
I played it a little, and intended on doing both like I did for my Kane & Lynch video but didn't have the time. I will definitely get around to it, I liked what I played so far.
I think I know what you mean, because this game is so old it’s kinda basic and bland looking, and Wii shovelware was basic and bland looking due to laziness. I think the high resolution of this recording made it look worse, because we can’t see the crappiness of the original hardware and thus lose that context. I remember croc on the ps1 with the warped and distorted textures that the console was known for, I think maybe that was part of the charm of the game?
Wii shovelware ~2008 Croc ~1997 In arguably the fastest moving decade for games. I understand if you are young that it might seem as bad, but that is only because you are probably used to current tech. Or at least since ~2008 otherwise you'd never make that statement.

I love this game, I'm so happy it'll be back soon... A Croc 3 should be a dream come true
Still love Croc and the music. Played through it this spring. 400mb freeware. The nostalgia.
The graphics were great for their time. I was 7 years old when I played this for the first time and loved it.

So glad I found this video. Great work! Subbed!

You will not BELIEVE what just got a remaster announced rn
I saw it WHILE I was editing! Very excited

It hasn't aged that well, but it was fun for its time. It's got tank controls, but levels that are at least designed around them.
I prefer it over Mario 64 personally.
The remake will ditch the tank controls.
I've been curious about this game for a while, I'm hoping to find a reasonably priced copy on the Saturn 'cause why not! Haha
Great Video!

Jumping Flash was the first 3D platformer.
Never heard of this until now, I love that it's first person too. Extremely innovative for the time.

First link in the description, the Playstation Promotional video. Not sure the timestamp tbh, but it's in there
But how
I only played a demo once when I was a kid, but the tank control feel a bit weird as far as I remember

Gex sucked.
@@SGC90-t5y Well I strongly disagree.

“Water levels always suck”. Clearly hasn’t played tropical freeze

I like this game, but let's be honest those controls singlehandedly turned an 8/10 game into a 6/10 at best.
So, so clunky.
nintendo deff ripped this off

@@ReallyCoolGuy6969 Also the music in the first stage in Super Mario 3D World kinda sounds like one of the Croc songs
croc 2 next please

The unforgettable hub world bongo music and the unintelligible ramblings of Swap Meet Pete...
Real nostalgia for that game.
It's not true. Nintendo were already working on mario 64 before they got pitched the Yoshi game croc spunoff. It's a myth
Oh neat, yeah I didn't really double down on that because I wasn't able to find any confirmation.
How did you get your hands on the game?
It looks nice but clearly is a bad game
this game exudes "wii shovel-ware" energy
>:(

It's sad how Croc would later go on to star in tons of Shovel-ware.
