This is a Canadian band that was huge in the 1970s and '80s. In fact, for a time they lived in my home town of Montreal. The lead singer, Myles Goodwin, just passed away. I got the chance to interview him, which was really cool. He wrote most of their hits, and they had a bunch of hits.
They played at my school when they were putting their first album together, this was when I lived in Nova Scotia, probably before your parents were born, you should check out the song “I Like To Rock “, you will enjoy that masterpiece
April Wine is another excellent Canadian band! ❤❤❤ That solo is like a waterfall of sound! Could of been a lady Sign of the Gypsy Queen I like to rock ( the music video for this song was filmed at Le Studio in Quebec. The same place where Rush recorded and did some videos as well). Cheers 🇨🇦
Seen them 3 times , all were great. Other songs to check out - Oowatanite , Rock Myself To Sleep , I Like to Rock plus so many more. April Wine has never won a Juno (Canadian Grammy)despite 11 nominations. However, they were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the Juno Awards of 2010. Other great Canadian bands Rush , Triumph (both only have 3 members in band , Prism , Loverboy , Trooper , Bachman Turner Overdrive , The Guess Who etc.
They were so freaking good life! One of the first concerts I ever went to Texxas jam. I believe it was 1980. One of those bands that is much better live.
So at the 4:00 mark, one pass off to two then to three then all together then it repeats one to two to three then all together, seen them many times in concert in Ottawa and Montreal. this was written to be the last encore song hence the "bye bye" .... at the end
From my home province of Nova Scotia, a great live band with quit a few hits, lead singer Myles Goodwyn died last year, but a good band to get into, songs like I Like To Rock, live from a MTV concert is amazing with a drum solo that is kick ass, rock on guys
April Wine was a THREE GUITARIST BAND which wasn’t normal by any means . Lynyrd Skynyrd and a few others were. It really is awesome when they have that, but then there are several bands with just ONE guitarist that amazingly pull it off.
Would also suggest you try another great Canadian band from this era …. Triumph “Magic Power” or “Lay it on the Line” I would suggest live from US Festival in San Bernardino, California on May 29, 1983 as it really shows how amazing this 3 piece band was live
I've seen them way back then on 4 different Canadian tours and each of these tours the opening band was a strong choice and each band was also Canadian
I saw April Wine and Queen in 1976 in an acoustically designed Autatorium for Orchastras that seated 3,500 people. My first concert, 2nd row. My ears were ringing for a week. 😂 🎶✌️🎶🍁
I got to speak with the singer one time, a really nice decent guy. You must do I like to rock next, check out the Roku Toronto who never gets covered, and try looking for trouble amazing female singer
@lealinds9496 Looking for Trouble, Head On Collision, Your Daddy Don't Know, & many others. I never understood why the band Toronto never exploded into the culture outside of Canada
i knew the classic line up from the late 70's and 80s .. sadly myles ( lead singer and guitar) has passed .. but i can say .. they put on a great show and ya they would do live what you seen here ,.. another band that was great live was TRIUMPH .. want a taste ???? then check out truimph at US Festival from May 29, 1983, " fight the good fight " and youll see what they were like live .. SIDE NOTE TRIUMPH HAD ONE OF THE BEST LIGHT AND PYRO SHOWS AS WELL ..
well lads , you want to know some canadian music lets start with aprile wine .,.."in my opinion .. april wine ..best hits : roller , oowatonite, could have been a lady, weeping widow , bad side of the moon , sign of the gypsy queen , say hello , wouldnt want to loose your love , Tonite Is a Wonderful Time to Fall in Love, im on fire for you baby , Rock n' Roll is a Vicious Game, enough is enough , fast train , lady run lady hide, drop your guns , . and now stampeders , trooper , triumph , fuldd , tom cochrane and red rider , rush , the guess who , bto , toronto , head pins , chilliwack , stepenwolf and the list goes on and on ... and if you want some down right rockin tunes from canada theres a lot to choose from .. ENJOY FROM THE GREAT WHITE NORTH !
Now the mystery song that hardly now one here has heard of because they all are too young or have been or are being distracted. ALL TRUE. LISTEN TO JOURNEY SUZANNE and you will not be able to stop guaranteed. Then listen to it at night before going to bed. It was a song practically hidden from the world but is a masterpiece in the album. I REPEAT DO NOT LISTEN TO IT LIVE. Listen to the original song from the album youtube has the song from the, "Raised on Radio" album. Then be blown away by the range of Steve Perry's voice and the crying guitar of Neal Schon. ALL TRUE. And as a special PRECIOUS GIFT go see Jonathan Kleck youtube channel, the Angel of the Church of Philadelphia mentioned in Revelation 3:7 that the Apostle John wrote about. ALL 100% TRUE.
awesome canadian band they formed in Halifax Nova Scotia but were based in montreal .. songs .. could have been a lady , gypsy queen , i wanna rock and more oh yah song just between you and me
One of the greatest live bands of all time ... caught them 3 times in concert and always EPIC performances. April Wine LEGENDARY.

Saw them in '79 ...did a super extended 3 guitar solo...my first concert! Was blown away!
Nice to see young guys like yourselves watch and listen to some classic rock. No auto tune, just talented musicians and vocalists.

I have been to at least a hundred concerts. April Wine completely blew me away in concert. I did not expect the musicianship.
First concert I ever went to. Eddie Money opened for April Wine (1982). They were phenomenal.
I Like to Rock video version, recorded in the same studio where Rush recorded Tom Sawyer.☮️🇨🇦

April wine has almost 30 albums.. For most of the time they had a heavily revolving cast except for Myles Goodwin who was the mainstay.
