Fighter pilots wear anti G suits, oxygen masks and they are strapped in an ejection seat. They have special equipment to use parachutes since fighter jets fly faster than commercial planes.
You don't open it straight away. By the time you drop 10,000 feet or more without yet opening you will not be travelling 500mph anymore

It's because in aviation every pilot is an "informal" captain. But when they're inside a flight deck tge stripes tells who is the Captain and who is the F.O. 😊👍

For me its Captain Richard De Crepny form Qantas flight 32. When he does a control check in flight to determine which of his flight Controls are still working and how him and his co pilot react to the impending danger of loosing Engine Number 2 ( Airbus A380). after landing and stopping with less then 1 metre of runway to spare in Singapore ( No injuries and Zero Fatalities).

6:00 MentourPilot made a podcast about that topic. It's not because parachutes are too expensive. It is because:
1. Most passengers simply can't operate parachutes properly.
2. At 30000 feet altitude, there is not enough oxygen. You will pass out.
3. The aircraft is pressurized, so you can't open the door.
4. There aren't enough doors.
5. Close to every accident happens close to the ground where it's not enough time to get everyone out.
Well... during Attrition War in Israeli and Egyptian conflicts, one Soviet Mig-21MF pilot passed away after ejecting at 30,000ft and the parachute open at that altitude, it should be opened at 10,000ft. The pilot killed by lacked of oxygen and freezing at -60 degrees celcius
If the accident happens during cruise, it's too high (lack of oxygen), too FAST, and too cold for parachutes on a passenger jet. Not practical, so not worth the weight if it can't help save lives. Not to mention, you have the engines to worry about, both the intake and the heat of the exhaust.
@@FriendlyMarmot IIRC when the 747 blew up over Lockerbie, passengers ejected into the 600 mph airstream were stripped naked. It's a rough environment to find yourself in in street clothes.

1 engine failure is ok in most airplanes, the problem is 2, 3 or 4 engine failures.
Haha well... it just helps it to stay longer in the air. The worst thing that can happen to a plane is probably losing a wing, especially a "main" one, or the vertical stabilizer which is responsible to keep the plane going straight.
Or if the plane has its elevators on the rudder, and the rudder gets torn off, its nose will go down and the pilot will be just scared af cuz the plane doesn't react if they pull back the yoke/stick.
Ok not sure it's the worst, but worst thing that can happen when the plane is in the air and the rest of it is still in one piece.
An engine failure is bad but you won't fall out of the sky like a brick at least, you can still glide and emergency land somewhere hopefully.

Technically it’s the lift generated by the wings that’s keeping the ‘flying bathtub’ in the sky lol. Depending on the weight, surface area of the wings, etc, you can glide for a very long time before landing with almost no worries

As much as the mexican government will lose on trying to resell it. It end up costing more then a 380. At least a 380 had revenue flights to offset costs. The mexican presidential 787 has not one single revenue flight, sat in a Boeing hanger in Washington state for a year. Taking up rent and maintenance. And if AMLO does sell it. You can bet the next Mexican president will buy another airliner presidential jet....after all of that. It will cost the mexican citizen more then a 380.

A friend of mine once flew R*%$£!r (ah yes Mr O'Leary and his Bloodstock operation) from Stansted to Madrid, and I decided to follow the flight real-time on FR24. This was when O'Leary had ordered his beleaguered, under-paid pilots to "Fly slower to save fuel". Actually it was only a joke. First time i flyed ever was with Ryanair and it was good. Worst thing in Ryanair is that its really often delaying.

But seriously ill agree, especially since 737’s are a harder plane to land... Ryanair isn’t as bad as it used to be
