    I’ve watched this so many times and I still don’t understand how high and low speed is mechanically separated! I’m going to school for engineering and I’m still baffled

    • @revvilo
      @revvilo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Check out the Wikipedia page for "Check Valve"
      It's very simple if you can break it down in your head. The fluid opens the valve when it pushes one way (usually against a spring), but when it pushes the other direction, it _closes_ the valve.
      At 1:07 you'll see that if fluid was to push upward (from the bottom) on those check valves (the flat things that are highlighted with the circles), they would push against the body and create a seal, whereas if they are pushed from the top downward, they would open more.

    • @trailfork7815
      @trailfork7815 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      low speed = small hole
      high speed= oil pressure opens a bigger hole which is "spring loaded"

    • @a.r.8850
      @a.r.8850 ปีที่แล้ว

      the damping circuits are not separated, high speed damping is an added circuit. if the speed/force is too low, only the lowspeed circuit is open. if there is enough force/speed to push the spring back, the oil can now flow through the low speed valve AND the high speed valve. the high speed knob adjusts how much force/speed is needed for the circuit to open (preload on the spring.

    Hving a full brace u put your leg into instead of just on a peddle, might b good start. Problem is u hve to b able to put foot down or drag it. So the leg/ bike brace would hve to attach to u & then u step onto peddle, w/brace. This will give u suspension pnts on both legs & protect the lower legs.

    • @jamesmerkel9442
      @jamesmerkel9442 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Safety factor is disconnect the hands from grips/steering & not flipping over. Which style is safer grip parallel or perpendicular to frame(pedaling or more important Ebike not)

      @jamesmerkel9442 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or try all 3 grips in 1 peddle or 45 deg or perpendicular in 1 important to keep control of steering. 3 grips left & 3 grips right side. Speediest crouched 10speed style least control.

    Where is a good place to send a fox rear shock for repair. Bought a dh bike that came with a thought to be blown rear shock... turns out the bone head was turning the damper shaft to adjust preload and the nut that hokds the piston onto the damper shaft unthreaded n came off. No damage just the shim stack went all mixed up.

    • @matess3655

    • @matess3655

    Can someone verify that with faster Rebound (less rebound damping) you increase the mid stroke suppot and bottom out resistance?
    I have cross check this countless times but i ve never seen anyone mention it.

    • @fraserdavidson6900
      @fraserdavidson6900 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure if you are still looking for the answer but rebound will not do much for support. What you need is compression adjustment. Rebound only (in theory) works as the damper is extending. It’s the adjustment that prevents the bike from bucking you off.
      Compression damping is the resistance to the damper being squished as it’s moving.
      Keep in mind that “mid support” can also be caused by suspension kinematic design and the ramp rate of the spring + any friction effects going on.

    Last is seating again w/biking BMX or motor cross bal & standing or partial seating is v/diff from just riding a bike. The old style banana seats r safest, bc u hve largest area to land back down on. U can jump w/2 riders & still land it. Hving a modern hinged in middle banana seat gives u 2 seats in 1 & positions to rest on or against or actual sit back down on. Bc it is hinged if u know going to take a hit u want to b rear most shocks absorption 2 on back & most travel. So many dynamics w/speed & jumps BMX & NOW Ebikes r more motor cross then req biking. It needs the connection pnts disconnected from bike.

      Normal BMX 4 hve frame flex shock & front fork shocks but need leg bracing shocks right at peddles & seat shocks w center hinge & u need a seam steering shock system as well. Skimp on any of these connection pnts & not wearing BMX type safety gear & it is not going to end well. Ebike who knew. Best I can do just taking a swing at it.

      how is it copy paste? most companies use the same technology...plus fox has been in the game even before ohlins.

      I'm not sure what you're trying to claim, I suppose just name dropping Ohlin's and mentioning "technology" to seem like you have even a basic understanding of what's going on here. Ohlin's doesn't have a monopoly on damper architecture. You can't patent damper architecture, only a VERY specific way in which you were to implement said "technology", as you call it. The same design principles have and are being used in countless other products by countless other manufacturers.

    looks little too complicated to work stable for longer than 1-2 race, so it's advanced expensive peace of shit :))
    In most cases advanced complications are almost only for marketing purpose only (to rise up prices). So because of that I'm using rock shox, i't just working ok and for a long without huge maintenance.

      You have no idea what your talking about. This is just as reliable as previous fox or other standard type shocks but this system provides more consistent damping while in use. Check out Ohlins TTX, same thing. It also requires less time to revalve due to the shim stacks being so easily accessible.
