    I had to distance myself from my mom due to her mental/ verbal abuse- I suspect she was a Narcissist. Some of my family members are also toxic so I have set boundaries for my peace of mine. The holidays is hard, but I have my own holiday traditions that I enjoy on my own that is separate from my family. My mom has passed away, and I grieved the mom I wish I had that I did not have. I see my siblings during the holidays- but I set boundaries, and conversations will remain positive even if it means keeping ones mouth shut when a sibling tries to bait people into an argument- just do not react and be in control of your emotions. This makes for a happier holiday.

    You’re so gifted and skilled. I’m impressed every time I watch these. I’d love one day to know how you crafted yourself into the person you are. I hope you plan to write a book and give an interview. Maybe to that AA guy that has a CEO video series. He’s good. Thank you for giving so much to so many.

    That second caller thinks he’s a “de-escalator” and then proceeds to say “you wanna do this right now?!”🤣 that story is hilarious, guy is clueless.

    • @tinam761
      @tinam761 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chances are he didn’t go into every detail of de-escalating he did before that … he did get sucked in, but we all hit a wall some times… give him some grace. I’m sure it’s been 10 years of de-escalation.

    • @lav7161
      @lav7161 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sometimes the de-escalator can only endure so much. And honestly, sometimes you do have to teach someone a lesson. If everyone was so nice all the time then all the bad people will ALWAYS get away with everything. It takes a smart person to learn from those ass kickings 🤕🤣

      Something I’m learning to accept is that feelings and issues are going to come and that’s to be expected… I can work to let go more and release and not engage in and notice what my body is doing in certain situations… I’m JUST beginning to have the smallest success with this BTW.
      Don’t beat yourself up for issues/ feelings coming up … it happens and will happen. Celebrate your wins … every millimeter of progress … and if you step back, remember: you did it once … you CAN do it again. It’s a long game so to speak… my experience is that ANY progress I notice and acknowledge… helps propel me further into healing.
      I’m rooting for you Erica! ❤

    First caller needs to gain specific tools from her therapist about her childhood traumas before having a child. I know its not the answer she wants to hear but the immediate tears about her childhood tells me she clearly is not over her childhood.
    The fact that she didn't mention she told her husband, and says she is the best friend to others, tells me that she is a typical empath who wants to go through life not making waves and make others happy despite her own feelings she is afraid to open up to her husband. Which means once she has this kid and goes from the perfect wife to an emotional Rollercoaster the cycle of kid seeing parents argue will repeat again with her own child.
    She needs to heal she clearly is not ok and should not have a child in her current mental condition. Kids are not a bandaid.
    If we had more people take into account their own issues before children we'd have less callers like her.

    Question: With picking guilt over resentment, where's the line the application? E.g. you can't just say "I'm picking the guilt of not doing household tasks over resenting doing it"

    • @elisegothlix1183
      @elisegothlix1183 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the line is resenting a person, not just a task. Pick guilt over resentment when interacting with loved ones and their actions/needs etc

    I'm so sorry, caller. I'm going through stuff with my family as well, especially my parents. It's really hard when the people that are supposed to love you unconditionally and support you and encourage you just don't. It feels like a betrayal. Sending up some prayers for you and also wanted to tell you about this amazing lubricant that has helped a lot of people that could not conceive called preseed. Check it out on Amazon and especially look at the reviews! Much love and big hugs to you! You are going to be a wonderful mom!❤

    Question for the gentleman with semi run-in. Where you in the truck’s blind spot? Did the trucker have his signal on?
    My dad is a truck driver and 9/10 times, those “run-ins” are at the fault for the “four wheeler”.

    • @tinam761
      @tinam761 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True … my guess is at minimum 95% of people don’t understand trucks and what the driver can see … not see etc. stopping too fast in front of one.
      My step-father was a truck driver and since I have known him 43 years… he’s never had a fender bender of any kind … on or off the job.
      He did help me understand what crazy maneuvering and damage they would do to an engine to try to slow down because someone cut them off … stopped too quickly… decided that safe space in front of the truck was there for them to take …
      Drivers in general need more knowledge on this … maybe some PSA’s would help a bit.

    • @randicooper2372
      @randicooper2372 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tinam761 I agree. My dad has been driving for semis for about 20+ years. He hit 1,000,000 miles with his current company and no accidents.

    What if your spouse seemingly feels automatic resentment because your presence in their life provokes them to feel guilty for not doing the things they should do for you as their partner? Like, they get that feeling of guilt when they fall short, but instead of taking that guilt and using it to course correct their own behavior, they skip right over that and become irritated that they're having these negative feelings inside as a result of you being present.

    So I don't think avoiding family is the right thing to do, unless it is an extreme situation.
    We just have to learn to communicate and be OK if things don't go as planned. Way too many people cut out parents just because they are in their emotions rather than being ok with feeling uncomfortable sometimes. Just figure things out even if it is awkward.
