Dr. Delony you are so right when you say this man made no progress. He's not utterly repentant AT ALL. He's playing games with her. He's not ready to turn over everything, an apology, his credit cards, his paycheck, he's not admitting he was wrong and he's going to do it again.

It's also a trust issue. It's not healthy to be a doormat. He obviously only asked for forgiveness after he got caught. Hold him accountable for his actions. If he doesn't seek counseling, kick him to the curb.

Actually feel bad for this woman. What a shame. I've heard hundreds of people where I can see something like this happening to them but this girl sounds emotionally drained. There's someone out there that would genuinely appreciate her

Oh, Dr. John, you really nailed it in that she no longer trusts herself. I think that she likely feels that way.
For me? I didn't trust my own judgement anymore.
So I just never remarried. Now, I might. I'm finally over it.

      RE: Estranged Dad's Funeral
      1) If Stephanie decides to help, she can phone a crematory and have them pick up the body. Have him cremated, with no service. Then, when ready,
hold a picnic in a park for his friends and your family.
Call it a Celebration of Life.
Hopefully, his Social Security will cover the cost of cremation.
This is the least expensive way to do this, besides doing nothing.
You might find out that there were people that appreciated him. Maybe he helped some people that needed it.

@John Delony I recently moved out (into my camper relocated to a different location) after months in counseling with my partner. In March, an accident happened and caused me to spiral when feeling like I could be widowed for a second time in my life. 8 counseling sessions visibly unstable and the counselor’s responses was consistent “my priority is the relationship”. This resulted in no action or support and my decision for my own mental health was made.
I have attempted to resolve our relationship while protecting my own mental health, but continue to be met with “I don’t know” after 6 months.
Do you have recommendations for an individual to release this emotional attachment? I shared your “fire in the house” videos and was met with the response “it’s not my fault, I’m not the only person that should be making changes”

Funeral: there is an alternative. In Northern California, it's common to have the body cremated, and then to wait until spring or fall and have a get together, picnic style in a park, in order to show respect for the life that God gave the deceased.
Often, it's called a "Celebration of life". A notice is put in a paper, or is done via phone! It's not expensive, and it doesn't have to be maudlin.

    Great show.
I don't know if you're better people than me for that, or if being poor and working so hard I risk illness is the reason, but if my father left me, gave me nothing but pain, I would forgive him, because he, too, was probably in pain. But I wouldn't pay for the funeral. I'd rather put that $2000 in the children's savings account of some sort. You didn't ask Tobe born. A parent who gives nothing but sperm and eggs isn't really a parent. Fluke of becoming pregnant is the reality, so the gift of life didn't come from him, but from some higher force or nature. I think that this country contributes to how healthy our society is. That's why the society as a whole should pay for funerals of our lost souls in this supposedly evolved society. This poor woman raised herself up from her pain. Congratulations, my lady. You owe no one nothing. My taxes pay for wars. So I don't mind at all paying alongside millions of other working Americans for the funeral of the man who had an ejaculations that started your life.
I'm most interested in protecting the living and the life: you and your children.
By the way, in case anyone needs to know, I had a truly amazing father who was terribly hurt as a child and throughout his life, and struggled also at times with an addiction. Yet he was a model father when he wasn't struggling, when he was struggling, and when he quit so that he can be a better father and a better man. So no, I am not a bitter child of another addict. I am a child of a loving traumatized man. Even if he didn't stop, I would forgive him, or if I had everything so much better than this lady, I believe I would have this same opinion. Maybe I would pay if I were rich and it meant absolutely nothing, but absolving the government of the burden, I hope you all are well.
I love the show. Thank you all for this incredible work and material, and parts of your souls given to all for free.

My fiancée doesn’t know what he wants to do, and has not created any plan the past 8 years. He is responsible with money but he is selling his business soon with no plan on how he will earn money after that. Should I be worried? I graduated from college debt free and now pursuing my masters plus accounting certifications (that will be company paid) so I feel I have planned out my life. But he does not “like planning”. Is this a red flag? I don’t want to be controlling but I wish he had some sort of plan mapped out

New friends will form with similar hobbies. Get a great job ( doesn’t mean high paying) and get friends there in same situation. Find a TH-cam channel and learn a. Skill or hobby. Start delivering food and groceries and smile and be professional and watch your bank account. Get creative and go for it. Be an adult and leave the children behind. U r ready.
