    Love you’re video posts Nick. I’m 62 and just about to sit my motorcycle test. Have bought a 2020 Honda CB500 X and your videos inspire me to get travelling. Love it👍👍🥃🏍️

      Many thanks Jim! Good luck with the test, take it easy and enjoy the experiences motorcycling can bring... even when the weather isn't at it's best

    Hi Nick , your videos are superb! As a fellow cb500x owner, and a real lover of the lake district, this is now on my next holiday to do list. Please keep these coming they are so inspirational to fellow riders like me. Thanks

    Its really cool to see someone's documented journey over roads we know very well, gives an interesting perspective! You probably found your bike handled much better without your mountain of luggage! Thanks for sharing this Nick, really enjoyed it! Cheers.

      Glad you enjoyed it and yes, the bike was so much more nimble without the "mountain" 😉

    Great place to ride your bike , I have to wait till next July as I’m saving for my bike , thinking of the Honda 750 DCT as I’m 63 so your want to take it easy and enjoy the riding and scenery 👍🏍

      @bikingtravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Donna, I think that is a good choice, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. One of the reasons I went for the CB500X was to avoid the mad dash some bikes seem to encourage the rider to do, thereby missing the scenery and just enjoying the ride. Have fun and yes, the Lakes were indeed really enjoyable

    Another excellent video Nick, Like myself, it’s great to see someone really enjoying riding at a more sedate pace and taking in the views, especially when the views are so lovely, the exact reason I recently bought a Royal Enfield Himalayan as I’m planning on following a similar route to you down towards Turkey next year over 7 - 8 weeks in the Autumn, and your videos have been an endless help in my (very loose) initial planning

    Quite the effort both mentally and physically and I'm sure you're so satisfied now you have accomplished the passes. You were very lucky with the weather and it made it all the more enjoyable for us watching. Despite the Go-Pro anyone that has travelled in the Lakes will understand the difficulties of the roads and terrain and I lived every mile and every bump with you. An excellent vlog, take care Nick, ride safe.

      Thanks Ray, yes, the weather held for me (there was a light drizzle at one point but it passed quickly) and the scenery which I couldn't do justice was just wonderful.

      I'm back from the trip now, but have a taste for that part of the country so will definitely be heading back that way and spending more time there. Must be great living in that environment.

    What a great day out on the bike! I'm sure that it was much more relaxing to watch than it was to ride in places but the route looked very varied and wonderfully scenic. A bit of a cliff-hanger for the next days weather forecast.....Thanks for taking us along with you. Cheers.

    England is beautiful. Never expected it to be less dense in population. Growing up 50 north of New York City my motorcycle days where similar to these roads in many areas. Your route seems like a dream come true.

      Hi Edward, the whole trip was an eye opener for me, I've been lucky enough to travel quite extensively, but these areas in my own back yard, relatively speaking, were quite a surprise

    Excellent episode. Yes the Hardknott is usually done the other way, its definitely harder work if you do. Glad it wasn't raining for you. The cam is doing a great job, all of the scenery miles away is in perfect focus, and that is the part that we never see when we are focused on the road. 💯 I have learned to love the sound of single and twin cylinder bikes from watching vlogs, as I can hear the engine working, it adds to the experience.

      Many thanks @Googel+, maybe next year I'll try it in the opposite direction, but this way was a joy in any event. The bonus of capturing it on video is I do get to see the scenery on the replay too. Some fabulous scenery and landscapes we have on our own doorsteps.

    Wow your bike looks so nice without the luggage. I loved the lakes district. Worth stopping to explore, so much history the highlight for me was visiting John Ruskin's home. Take the greatest and most incredible care going around corners. Jim.

    Hi Nick,
    I’m a newbie to your channel and new subscriber, and am working my way through your back catalogue. I appreciate your laid back attitude and honesty.
    It takes a lot of time and effort to make these videos and it is appreciated.
    I bought a 2020 CBx a couple of weeks ago and love it to bits.
    Can you please tell me, is your Garmin wired directly to your battery and switched on/off via the switch on the Garmin unit, or wired into the harness and switched on/off via the ignition ?
    Regards warren 🇬🇧

    • @bikingtravels
      @bikingtravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @warrenr4, welcome to the channel and many thanks for your comment. Glad to hear you're enjoying the bike! The Garmin is wired into the harness so that it switches on/off with the ignition which keeps things simple. However, I do remove the device for lunch / shopping and overnight stops and it will turn itself off under those circumstances as it has lost direct power, so may not really be necessary.

      Hi J, I hope you enjoy the bike as much as I do, I've listed the kit etc in the description but specifically to your question I have a Garmin Zumo XT GPS device mounted on the 12mm crossbar with a Rally Raid Billet Multi-Mount for 12mm (1/2") Crossbar - part number RRP 643. Hope this helps

    Hi, was thinking of that bike, whats the real life economy and tank range please.

    • @bikingtravels
      @bikingtravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gavin, on my European tour the average was 3.2 litres / 100 Km, high 80's MPG (imperial). The UK trip was less, probably 70 mpg. I think the tank range is around 250 miles, but this would be based on riding style. You might be interested in my review th-cam.com/video/lg87fvffBgQ/w-d-xo.html

      The joy of motorcycling. Empty open road, ride fast. If I have to explain that you shouldn’t be watching this video.
