Yes, but it wont be on that price level if they will add tweeters. Tweeters are good, it really adds more details. But i guess soundcore targeted Budget-Bass head buyers for this Motion Boom. Fantastic Review as expected! The Soundcore Motion Boom competes directly against JBL’s Xreme 3. Some of the other speakers - Sony XB43 - aren’t as Bass Heavy or have very “Muddy-Mids” such as the WKing. Excellent review!
Perhaps it doesn't translate like that in the real world but in this test, the Boom beats the Plus on all counts - bass extension, balanced response, detail and volume
Have you ever tried the Doss Soundbox XL? I have yet to find a bluetooth speaker that can put out the bass like the XL. New speakers do not seem to use real subwoofers.
25:28 So, how about pairing with a motion plus and a motion boom using a specialised app or Samsung's dual audio feature, thus getting a deep bass, full mids and vocals that pop. Isn't that the best way to go?
Samsung dual audio is a great feature! Been pairing a motion+ with an xtreme 2 for a year now, getting quite a full sound with the xtreme 2's bass supporting the motion+.
@@boranakin710 do you have tho boom? did you tried to pair them? btw hows the sync of the two different speaker i heard from someone there's kinda slight delay?
@@jeffayson1539 I recently tried to send audio from my samsung phone to an xtreme 2 and a motion plus and they synced just fine. So it should be fine with a boom too. However, you can't pair them in stereo this way. Then I tried sending audio to a motion plus and 2 xtremes and there was a noticeable delay between them and the plus. Probably because the signal has to bounce twice with 2 xtremes. Maybe a suitable app can solve this issue and the stereo issue, haven't tried one yet.
@@jeffayson1539 Well, I have been pairing Xtreme2 and motion+ just like @DoronD, and they usually sync up just fine. A motion+ and a ue boom 2 also worked for me. It can sometimes be finicky; but reactivating and/or reconnecting them a few times solves that. HOWEVER, certain combinations of speakers won't sync up no matter what... We have tried 2 motion pluses in tws (true wireless stereo sync between 2 ankers, phone connects to one of them), paired with a single xtreme 2 through samsung dual audio with a friend and it would never sync properly due to delays. Same happens with 2 Xtreme 2's paired with a motion+ as @DoronD has said. So best to try it first before you buy two different speakers. The safest bet would be to just buy 2 identical speakers that can do native stereo with perfect syncing like a pair of motion+ or motion booms. I already had the xtreme 2 when I got the anker much later, so I do it that way. :)
@@DoronD Wow man, great to hear that someone else has been doing the xtreme2 and motion+ combo as well! Even though it isn't stereo, they still sound great together, JBL fills in the bass, anker shines with the clarity of the highs and the mids :) We have tried the reverse of yours, where we connected a single Xtreme 2 with a pair of motion+'s in TWS through samsung dual audio, and the pair of ankers would always lag way behind the same way as your xtremes. I really do wonder how/if 2 pairs of xtreme 2's and motion+'s would work xD Cheers!
Thanks for the review and comparison been looking forward to this, the sound I think is good enough for me, the bigger battery ability to use it as a power bank is all great, but to leave out the auxiliary port is a bit of a deal breaker
@@alanrossreviews hi mate will you review the upcoming charge 5 it has mono twitter and a mono "race-track shape driver" don't know that will help its still a mono speaker..i have the onyx studio so 5 i know the struggle of monos😁
I love your 'no nonsense just hard data' attitude :-) Anyway, soundcore is beginning to give us products that are kinda hard to beat in terms of shear value for money - same with the latest Soundcore Life Q30 headphones, just amazed by what you get for 80 euros...
A good review. I’m so glad I watched this review, as I’m looking for a good BT speaker that I can carry on my bike, for ‘on the go’ sounds, possibly, but definitely for good music at camp later. It’ll be the ‘plus’ for me then. Thank you.
Great review as always, thanks! Having had the Motion Plus for a few months I'm super happy with it! After this review I would still choose it... For 3 main reasons: 1: the clarity in mid and upper range is fantastic. Tweeters for the win! Especially as they angle outwards to increase the sound field. 2: the aux-in for non-BT devices. 3: the aptX BT codec. Why take them away for the Boom? Feels like 3 steps backwards for the 2 steps forwards of more pronounced bass in the Boom, and a bigger battery. It's also therefore a lot bulkier. Considering it's it's size, the Motion Plus has decent bass, especially with EDM.
I got this on a "lease" until my Sony XB43 arrives. Honestly, as a basshead, I'm pretty impressed. Ive played an hour straight of EDM, a trebly Latin Music and some Pop Music. Ive tried the Bugani M90 and the Monster Adventurer Force the past 2 weeks and it had weak bass. They were more for Rock/Country music. At 60GBP/75USD/100CAD price point this would be an excellent buy for those who love high bpm music. It's 139CAD at the moment and hmm, just wait a little bit more when it goes on sale.
@@geebee3974 finally I bought a Marshall Stockwell II i spent a lot more of money ,but the speaker design stands from all others (they're all the same...) and I love the Marshall sound that I already knew ...BUT I will have my hands on the BOOM in the future ...
Owner of a motion+, never liked the sound. Sound is holding back, so muddy. Maybe it is detailed but thad muddy sound is awful. Tried to adjust the eq, but sound does not reach out. It is still playing as if i was sitting in the speaker. Motion Boom sound much more crisp and open. Bye motion+ welcome boom! Thanks for the video .)
I guess it depends on the kind of music and quality of the music in my case i use to listen to metal and it sounds great now with clasical music it becomes a little bit complicated for the speaker
Awesome reviews, Alan. Wondering why you had 7 hrs / 3 hrs for Motion+ battery test at max volume? Why you had two different times? Diff EQ settings? Thanks in advance.
hum, havent played the 2.2 in a while, the minirig will destroy it for quality. the boom goes low but there is no detail or tightness to it. with the 2.2 you will get a hifi type nature to the bass and start picking out the whole drumkit. the boom can sound a bit congested.
Hey Alan. New subscriber. Awesome channel. Thanks! I've been using a Charge 4 for outdoor listening on my patio at about 40% volume for two years now. I'm looking to get a different speaker for a fuller more detailed sound. Both of these Soundcore options look great. I listen mostly to Progressive music but also mix in older Rock and R&B. Based on my usage, which would you recommend more? Thanks!
motion boom can do it all, its just not very detailed or sparkly and dispersion is poor. but its bass will kill the charge 4 and you can eq clarity in to it with the Soundcore app.
@@alanrossreviews Thanks Alan. After watching several more of your reviews I'm going to go with the Sony SRS XB43. I'm really looking for a bigger Sound Stage outside. Appreciate your work.
Whats the name of the EQ app? I have the soundcore app but not the same EQ. Nice reviews btw. Thanks to you i chose the motion boom instead en of the extreme 3.
I always love your videos! i hope you get the amount of support that you deserve! Can you me to which one should i get, i like listening to some air supply music and i also do like heavy bass music. Which one should i get? the boom or plus? i know the boom would shine on bass heavy and i also know plus would have edge on air supply music, but which speaker could do a decent job on their own weakness? haha. Sorry for my grammar hehe.

Hey thank you very much any chance of sharing the eq setting you used for the motion boom pls? Noticed it was different from your older review against some other units. Thanks again for deep frequency info
I own both speakers and I have to say I now love the motion boom much better. Alan try upping the EQ a little bit more. You have the EQ way up on the Motion Plus but not really on the motion boom. Plus 24-hour battery versus 12 hour battery. I have to say too that I loved the handle on it because I carry it all around using it.
@@alanrossreviews Thats too bad, u can set the + to mids and treble and the Boom to handle the bass then stack the plus on top of the boom, would sound great I bet
I really like your reviews! I'm glad I found your channel and also that I found out about Soundcore Motion Boom. Just, please, play other music as well! I'm a techno fan, for example, and I'm really wondering how the Motion Boom would perform.
I think they missed a trick here, seems is if they were so set on keeping the price down. Why not spend a bit more on R and D add tweeter ect and market it as a higher end speaker. All they appear to have done is to have released bigger less refined version of the plus. I would mind splashing out more on a high end Motion plus knowing how good my two standard ones are, as it stands i won't be investing in a bulky side step version of an already brilliant speaker.
@@alanrossreviews That's exactly my point, Anker had the perfect opportunity to move the Boom to the next level. Instead it's basically a bass heavy giant muffled boom box with the Motion price tag. Anker could've made the Boom the Tronsmart T6 Max to the Motion plus's Tronsmart Mega.
"Why not spend a bit more on R and D add tweeter etc and market it as a higher end speaker." Given the runaway success of Motion Boom, I think many customers (including me) would be interested in this. I hope in a top-secret laboratory Anker is already developing it!
I am comparing Motion + vs Boom with your EQ settings for both of them and Motion + is louder 15% to 20%. I thought it would have been the opposite. As far as sound goes, Motion+ I have to agree, it has clarity and detail but lower bass. I already have 2 Motion+ and I was thinking to upgrade to 2 Booms but I will decide against them as it seems.
now what have you decide pal? please reply i want a second m.plus or my boom because right now is in the amazon locker i have until tuesday to decide if i cant get it will be returning at amazon,,
Hi Alan. If you had to choose a portable speaker for indoor use (sub $500) what would you choose? I am looking for a speaker to replace my aging braven 850 which still works perfectly but I have a feeling newer speakers produce better sound quality.
I haven't tried enough high end speakers to make that call. Im more comfortable talking about value. I like the go plus play 3 for indoors. Or two blasts in custom.
Thanks a lot Alan. Concerning the lack of details on the mids, I think by decreasing the bass and changing the eq to favor the mids and highs, would make a difference. I’m really surprised by this speaker, I think it can compete well against the Xtreme 2.
it starts out quite flat and didnt want to mess to much. default anker tuning tends to be a bit dull so i just look to add a little sparkle back. for sure theres headroom there for the bass but it can get a bit boomy. next stop vs xtreme 3. 👍👍
Hi Alan, is this all in my imagination, or does having the anker soundcore app set to flat without bass enhancement sound different than having it set to custom mode with all of the sliders at zero? It seems to have more bass as well as other slight dynamic changes I can’t pinpoint nonetheless describe.
@@alanrossreviews the custom mode with all sliders at zero (from what I can hear) does not sound identical to any of the custom presets, with or without bass enhancement turned on. At first I thought all sliders at zero should sound identical to the flat preset, with bass enhancement off. You claim that all sliders at zero should sound identical to the sound-core signature preset. My ears are telling me that the custom mode with sliders at zero still sounds different than the soundcore signature preset, which I tested with bass enhancement on, as well as off. This is worth bringing up in my opinion, as the sound I prefer the most, is the custom mode with all sliders set to zero, and it does NOT sound the same as any preset.
@@alanrossreviews I don’t measure frequency response, but it can’t be all in my imagination that they do not sound the same on my end, as I’ve tested on many times on different days. I’m wondering why this is. Unless I’m really THAT bonkers 🤪
Great review!! Did you do the Motion Boom vs. W KING D8 already? Because i am deciding which one to buy i am a Bass- Head so i always prefer the one who can produce deeper bass and decent highs. Im leaning towards to WKing D8 for the price and it has tweeters what do you think is better based on the specs i like.
I see, thanks, Ive seen some reviews that the Motion Boom out-Bass the D8, the Motion Boom has deeper Bass, but the trade of is the Wking D8 is louder for it has more Watts.
@@alanrossreviews Pity. They'd make an ideal couple. Thanks for your response! Strangely, both of them can't be bought from Switzerland. Amazon just says: currently unavailable. If you access the same site via VPN both of them are buyable. Hopefully Brexit doesn't have the same effect on your access to the markets.
this is my letter to soundcore team: hello soundcore, i`m fan of your products so writing this letter to show my needs. i`m a nomad traveler on the foot and often i like to make a little rave (party) mostly outside. at the moment i`m using motion + because it`s compact enough and not too heavy to be carried in my backpack and also because the quality of sound. but i wish a little bit louder speaker, maybe 50 w and also more bass. i know there is motion boom but it`s the same loudness as the motion + (30 w) and there are no tweeters, no 3,5 mm audio output (i need that), no 15° angle dispersion of the sound (which is really useful feature) and also there is no aptx support. so yeah...i`m really not satisfied with all this features being cut and not being implemented into the motion boom. please make a speaker up to 2 kg (still comfortable to carry in backpack for a long walk) with all that features motion + had but just a bit louder and with deeper bass. thank you
Too bad the motion boom doesn't have the same size as the motion plus. The motion boom plus seem interesting too but too heavy for me since I search something portable. Do you still recommend the motion boom nowadays ? Or you recommend another bluetooth speaker ?
nothing in the size or price can touch the deep bass of the motion boom. some say the mifa wildbox and it does have a tad deeper bass but the overall signature of that speaker is leaner and i prefer the fuller warmer boom.
Same here, must be some different EQs in default mode on them. The Motion+ is pretty clear and great sounding with its tweeters, and I love mine. I've been looking for something larger with more bass, so the Motion Boom is in question. However, I'm a bit put off that it doesn't have separate tweeters, but it does sound great.
@@OrganicGonzalez ok hear me out. what if it was a strap like the teufel rockster go has it? i always slide my bt speakers in my pockets or my bag. the handle just takes up to much space.
I'm VERY surprised and impressed with the Boom, even though it doesn't have tweeters, it still sounds clearer to me with that clean deep bass I personally would have loved the Motion Plus to have had but it never did. The Boom outshines the Motion Plus for me, wow I think I have a new favorite! Great first impression review as usual can't wait to see future comparisons to other current bassy speakers.
Hi Alan, really like your videos! I wonder why you changed EQ settings for motion+. You recommended different values in your earlier reviews, what changed? Thanks!
Dear Alan, in EQ the Boom has treble turned up, the Plus has treble turned down. The sounds we can hear match this. Is the Plus really woollen sounding or have you turned down the treble and is just the microphone hearing differently to ears? In this TH-cam video the Plus sounds dull whereas the Boom sounds more detailed. Is that how it really is to ears?
@@alanrossreviews thank you for the reply. I've gone for the Motion+. Because I listen to podcasts as well as music I'm hoping this is going to give me the vocal clarity. I have a Soundcore 1 or 2, not sure which it is, for a few years and it's been great. However I want more oomph. Amazing how good the sound is from these small devices. Thanks for your review and especially your Equaliser settings. Your EQ is very good. They should have it as an option.
the Boom is quite a lot better in the vocal area. The Plus sounds like there is a curtain in front of the vocals. Now listening at 16:55 aprox. The Plus sounds like the vocals are detached from the song
@@alanrossreviews Why didn't you set it up properly? In your test motion plus sounds dirty and very bad! And by default it sounds much dirtier than Boom!
Hi alan, I like bass in my music (I listen to rap a lot, I also like to listen to some old Frank Sinatra songs and classics). After a while, I bought a small Sony speaker, the srs-xb10, because of the "extra bass" point of sale and it nice i guess, but after about 2 years of use, I want a new speaker. After a long online search and watching your vídeos i am between the soundcore motion + and the motion boom also i will not listen to the music at maximum volume, but high enough not to decrease the bass. I also have some expirence with this company, I have soundcore life Q10 and I really like the bass up in them and the bass-up feature. What do you think? Will I like it or do you suggest another speaker?
Great vids Alan, Torn between both of these speakers and see Soundcore have announced the Motion Boom Plus due for release shortly. Sounds like the perfect blend, what are your thoughts? Worth waiting to see what it’s like?
It really goes significantly deeper than our old good m+, but, the quality of make and look are quite disappointing. I was searching for a bit larger drivers (60-70mm) in a bit larger than m+ wrap with at least the same quality as m+. Mb I would make the handle folding for traveling. The price is awesome though. Interesting, how it stands up against xtreme3. Thanks.
Hello Alan. I've had the Anker Soundcore Boost for three years and I've loved it for the first two years. However, the sound quality and battery life deteriorated the last year. I've used it only indoors and rarely used it while travelling. In spite of this, I'm still planning on purchasing the Motion+ simply because the sound quality is so good based on my Anker experience. With this, may I know if you've had any issues with the Motion+ so far? And what Anker bluetooth speaker could you recommend for longevity? Thanks a lot.
Some of my portable speaker's instructions state that you must charge the speaker every two months to maintain the battery. I found out to my cost with the Cambridge Audio Go V2 that I'd left for months without using as I didn't travel and that's when I used it. From 20 hours battery life to now just under 6 hours. I haven't used it that much so it's a hard lesson.
Another fantastic review. I've just ordered the motion+, as my taste is more voice, detail, clarity and separation and I think it will suit my ears more than the boom. Was listening on my B&W P7's, so hopefully got a good compare if not exact, but A/B difference. Some of the midrange sounded not quite as prominent in the boom.

I really do wonder how/if 2 pairs of xtreme 2's and motion+'s would work xD

Thanks for the review and comparison been looking forward to this, the sound I think is good enough for me, the bigger battery ability to use it as a power bank is all great, but to leave out the auxiliary port is a bit of a deal breaker

I love your 'no nonsense just hard data' attitude :-) Anyway, soundcore is beginning to give us products that are kinda hard to beat in terms of shear value for money - same with the latest Soundcore Life Q30 headphones, just amazed by what you get for 80 euros...
right, the new party lineup shows they are pushing forward, not teeny improvements every 3 years like jbl.
A good review. I’m so glad I watched this review, as I’m looking for a good BT speaker that I can carry on my bike, for ‘on the go’ sounds, possibly, but definitely for good music at camp later. It’ll be the ‘plus’ for me then. Thank you.
No worries 😜
Great review as always, thanks! Having had the Motion Plus for a few months I'm super happy with it! After this review I would still choose it... For 3 main reasons:
1: the clarity in mid and upper range is fantastic.
Its the new way, nothing wired
New to the review channel love it, just got the motion plus and wanted to know your custom eq specs for it

U deserve at least 2 million subs bro !
is that all? 🤔😜

Awesome reviews, Alan. Wondering why you had 7 hrs / 3 hrs for Motion+ battery test at max volume? Why you had two different times? Diff EQ settings? Thanks in advance.
There appears to be differences in the models. Most people got 3 hrs but i can get 7hrs.
Great review. Impressive sounding speaker.

Appreciate your work! love from germany :)
love from UK, and my mum 😋
Thank you for this nice review .
how is the bass in comparison to minirig 2.2?
hum, havent played the 2.2 in a while, the minirig will destroy it for quality. the boom goes low but there is no detail or tightness to it. with the 2.2 you will get a hifi type nature to the bass and start picking out the whole drumkit. the boom can sound a bit congested.
It's another class of speaker, it also costs twice as much
you're the soundgod, thank you for your review

My latest is always on my IG
I don't know about others but for me Boom was more bass heavy, loud and clear. It doesn't need tweeter at all.
i do prefer it because of the bass but i find motion plus a bit clearer and able to resolve more detail.
Needs a tweeter it helps I think ile go with the charge 5 get two of them and strap them to my bike so I can have stereo sound

I would mind splashing out more on a high end Motion plus knowing how good my two standard ones are, as it stands i won't be investing in a bulky side step version of an already brilliant speaker.
well its not much like the m+ at all really, the bass is impressive for its price, the m+ simply cant get near that low bass.

Eq is not a solution.
There is not replacement for displacement.

Hi Alan, is this all in my imagination, or does having the anker soundcore app set to flat without bass enhancement sound different than having it set to custom mode with all of the sliders at zero? It seems to have more bass as well as other slight dynamic changes I can’t pinpoint nonetheless describe.
not sure what you are asking, all sliders at zero is signature mode.
This is worth bringing up in my opinion, as the sound I prefer the most, is the custom mode with all sliders set to zero, and it does NOT sound the same as any preset.
actually measuring the presets (frequency response) and custom at 0 shows them identical in my testing. i can only report what i find.
Haven't tried them yet. There are a lot of budget boomboxes around now including w king d9, neocore wave a4.
I see, thanks, Ive seen some reviews that the Motion Boom out-Bass the D8, the Motion Boom has deeper Bass, but the trade of is the Wking D8 is louder for it has more Watts.
could well be, just havent tested it yet, the boom can play down to 40hz, impressive
Alan let's here 2 motion booms in Stereo. The MotionPlus's sounded awesome in Stereo . I'm assuming the motion booms will also sound awesome 👌😎

this is my letter to soundcore team:
hello soundcore,
i`m fan of your products so writing this letter to show my needs. i`m a nomad traveler on the foot and often i like to make a little rave (party) mostly outside. at the moment i`m using motion + because it`s compact enough and not too heavy to be carried in my backpack and also because the quality of sound. but i wish a little bit louder speaker, maybe 50 w and also more bass. i know there is motion boom but it`s the same loudness as the motion + (30 w) and there are no tweeters, no 3,5 mm audio output (i need that), no 15° angle dispersion of the sound (which is really useful feature) and also there is no aptx support. so yeah...i`m really not satisfied with all this features being cut and not being implemented into the motion boom. please make a speaker up to 2 kg (still comfortable to carry in backpack for a long walk) with all that features motion + had but just a bit louder and with deeper bass. thank you
p.s. , please make more colours and send free speakers to alan ross reviews 👍
@@alanrossreviews Thank you for your answer. By the way, what do you think about the Tronsmart Bang SE ?
I'm confused the Boom sounds more clear than the Motion Plus.
Hi Alan. Great thorough reviews. Can you connect the motion plus and boom via TWS?

@@alanrossreviews clarity sounded ok, think it was very good for the price. And bass is always fun 🙂
Is that how it really is to ears?
no the plus is much more detailed with wide dispersion. but it can be a bit grating. the boom on the hand lacks clarity and needs highs pushed.
@@alanrossreviews thank you for the reply. I've gone for the Motion+. Because I listen to podcasts as well as music I'm hoping this is going to give me the vocal clarity. the Boom is quite a lot better in the vocal area.

Will I like it or do you suggest another speaker?
you cant go wrong with either, just decide if you prefer dispersion and clarity over deep but balanced bass.
Thank you very much !!!!
If it was possible to pair them together would have been perfect bass plus detail do a work around for us thanks

Thanks a lot.
ive not had any issues but for sure lots of people have. its a bit hit and miss. just watch the firmware versions as they sound different.
Some of the midrange sounded not quite as prominent in the boom.
yes quite different sounding speakers. one for detail lovers and one for bass lovers.
