You've never seen a LEGO build move like this

  • There's an obvious parallel between the final iteration of this build, and a previous creation of mine: • A LEGO Slinky of Squar...
    They're both helices, but the primary difference is structural. The slinky of squares is much smaller, and fairly fragile--and adding layers to that build didn't particularly help. This build is very solid, and if I were to make the helix with five or six layer coils it would be even sturdier. It's also structurally dynamic. The final helix has a 23 pointed star in each coil, but there's no reason why I couldn't make those coils 22 points, or 8, or anything in between. And the way that energy moves through the build is just crazy--it looks almost alive. My daughter found it quite disgusting, and I can't say that I blame her. There's a reason I've been calling this the sunflower worm. 😂 And I already know how I want to scale this monstrosity up! Future video.

    It's actually fascinating, that something is made up of fairly rigid parts can end up so elastic. It's basically the same for molecules: take some singular molecules that are rigid by themselves (so that you can not force them to change their shape) link them up together in a veeeeeery long line and you get rubber.

      “Dear Brick Bending,
      I - along with some others here in the comment section - would highly appreciate it if you would take it into consideration to make a ring. I think this would make for a neat Lego build and I personally think that it would be a fun project for you to work on. Therefore I think it’s a great build for you to make and I do not question your ability to make it. I reason that off of your previous videos where you make incredible builds as well. My personal favourite would be the big green donut which - despite it being very illegal along with almost all your builds - I find fascinating. Just as fascinating as I find your abilities to come up with these Lego ideas and build them. Your channel is awesome and I would definitely appreciate it if you continue making videos, they’re really cool!

      Or at least be a little nicer, for example: “could you try making a ring please” or “would you consider making a ring, that’d be pretty cool!”
      Anyway my point is that you could be a lot nicer. It doesn’t hurt just asking instead being so straight and not at all polite. It makes you a lesser liked person resulting in less friends resulting in you dying alone with your dog who doesn’t care about you and will eat you :)

  • @Forsworcen
    @Forsworcen ปีที่แล้ว +21

    Interesting thing about rigid structures is that they get more flexible the longer they are. A tube of the toughest steel several thousand kilometers long could be tied in a knot if you wanted without compromising the structure. This illustrates that concept perfectly. I’d love to see him do a ring of this stuff. Or a sphere. Although doing a sphere would probably take several thousand dollars worth of Lego blocks and I can’t even imagine the size required to do so. It’d definitely be one of, if not the largest Lego builds ever made.

After the circle has been unlinked and you turned it into a spiral over itself, can you still perform that same motion in reverse? i.e. can you stretch the outer part of the spiral to make it longer and thinner without disconnecting anything?

    Watching at the intended speed is beautiful and astonishing; Seeing the incredible things you can create and the mastery with which you create them is the absolute epitome of art.

And I can laugh at the double-time click-clacks of the pieces being put together like you're a robot in a factory. Amazing yet completely insane! I love it Jeff, the yellow monster coil. A true testament to either your genius or madness😆. Is it almost time for the caveman story yet? I've been waiting patiently for that one 😊.

    Can you lock the spirals with a 1x1 plate?
    Can you lock the twist?
    What if each twist is more tight than the previous, making a conic curve?
    And, of course, the extreme…can it become a torus?

    • @BrickBending
      @BrickBending  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      A torus is doable, but it would take another few thousand 1x6 plates. I could lock the coils with 1x1 plates but not with 23 points. It would probably be more like 16, but that would still be a cool shape, and even sturdier. And shrinking each coil is a really interesting idea!
