@@Module79L that blue car can argue they didn't see RJ. The range driver cannot. He saw him and chose not to move at all, or maybe he thought that a motorcycle randomly stopped to interact with their kid. But I think it was more of a fuck you directed at RJ, cause you'd think he would at least realize what was going on when he saw the bike try to squeeze by the side of his car and move at that point. It was deliberate

Thats awesome man. The look on kids faces when they get acknowledged by a biker is so humbling. Its only happened to me a few times but made my day each time.

If the vehicles you are passing are stationary then you will generally be considered to be filtering if you keep your speed below 15mph. if you're going much faster than that and you have an accident, even if someone pulls out into your path then it is likely that your speed will be considered a factor.

No need to do it that fast! When traffic actually comes to a halt a lot of people open their doors to get out and see what the hold up is....very lucky
I remember once, back in my motorcycling days, when I was filtering through a very slow queue of cars. About 50 yards ahead of me two adjacent cars drifted together until they were almost touching, blocking my path. Then the passenger in one car opened his window and held out a small packet. The driver of the other car opened his window and took one (might have been a cigarette, might have been a sweet, I wasn't close enough to see). Then the cars drifted apart leaving a gap comfortably big enough for me to get through.
I always waved at children who waved at me. Happy days.

I don't know how it goes in the UK, but we have to filter between the fast lane and the middle lane. Car drivers don't even expect me to be between the slow lane and the middle lane.

Not always an advisable manoeuvre I had a very bad accident filtering somebody let a car out of the forecourt of the garage as I was overtaking a car right into my line of traffic I smashed into his door went right over his roof but I’m still here to tell the tale

Gee Why would anyone in his/her right mind open a door ?
Ed van Andel sitting in stoped traffic lots of people will open there door to get something out the back or to get up and stretch there legs, drive/ride around with the idea “why would they do that” and not plan for it gets you in a crash at so e point. RJ has a huge amount of experience filtering and is hopefully paying a huge amount of attention to the cars he is passing but the vast majority of riders should filter a lot slower in case a car moves or a door opens.
I wouldn't want to be the one sitting in that traffic jam with the window open when the exhaustpipe pops up at that point 50cm from my ear

Amazing how this guy can make his bike shrink when he approaches a gap that's too small
by the way the traffic is stopped you can tell the uk is not a bike friendly country , when i toured around France on long country lanes the travelling cars would all move over and on seeing your headlight the oncoming also, it was like the parting of the red sea as i would sail 100mph through the middle , that was some years ago, maybe it's changed now i don't know .
Way too fast for filtering, you may be able and switched on enough to do it safely, but most car drivers will not be expecting you and will open a door into you, whether they are right or wrong, people aren't paying enough attention for that to be safe

I'm not an advocate of lane splitting. One of these days, if you keep doing it, you'll know why. The risk factor increases exponentially when you do it. I may be of the minority opinion, but it's incredibly dangerous. As a biker, you want to control as much of the risk as you can, and when you lane split, you are ceding control of the situation to every vehicle you pass.
If the Honda driver wasn't on their phone, they might have noticed you sitting there.

I am always confused as to which lane I should filter between, sometimes punctures on the shoulder looks like the best option.
