its lazy if you dont. i did the cuts, the frame, calipers, cross members and transfer case. its all exposed youre dump 4-8 k in your truck why leave it untouched?

Man this is way more work into doing a lift on a 4 wheel drive truck than I ever thought maybe it being a 2500 made it worse, not sure but major props to guy doing the work he’s awesome at what he does! Just see this is old video 😂

all gmc 2500's have torsion bars on the front end.

G'day from Australia...I just had a local shop install a 4.5" BDS to replace the 6" Procomp lift that was in my 2012 Silverado 2500HD. I hated the way the Procomp lift had the torsion bars hanging down below the chassis....defeated the whole idea of why we get lifts fitted!!
The BDS kit is fantastic and so far I'm very pleased with the ride.
I've got to drive it our state capital (Adelaide) in 2 days to have a wheel alignment done. That's a 150klm (one way) trip, so I don't want to drive it anywhere today or tomorrow in case I damage the tyres (tires for you Americans...hahaha). However, it feels quite okay already, so I'm not expecting the wheel alignment to need much adjusting.
Great to finally have the BEST suspension under the truck.

@@markevans3710 g'day mate, I got the kit from James Hill at American Vehicle Sales, Rowville, Vic. They took ages to get it from the USA during the height of covid. I then had it shipped to Kadina because Victoria was locked down....otherwise I would have gone there and had AVS do the install.
The local Adelaide shop that AVS recommend is the Repco Service Centre at Salisbury. Apparently they're pretty good with the big yank tanks. It wasn't convenient for me to use them as it is more than a days work and I had nowhere to stay down there.
Instead, I had a local mechanic shop do the job... Ryan Hicks. They usually deal with big vehicles (prime movers etc), so they had the necessary pit and jacks etc to do the job.
They'd never done anything like that before, but the instructions that come with the kit are very comprehensive. In theory I could've done the install myself, but lots of heavy gear to move around and with my dicky back and shoulders I wasn't going to try to do it in my gravel driveway!!! hahaha
By the way....still love the set-up.

@@markevans3710 yes mate, he has a workshop in Russell Street. He's always busy, so you won't be able to get it done for a few weeks....but then again, you still have to get the kit too, which could take weeks/months.

awesome! quick question... why not remove the brake lines, gravity bleed them, then attach the lines to the calipers, then do a final bleed/flush?

One more question. I've heard where some people use the BDS kit with coilovers does that remove the torsion bars completely from the Chevrolet platform? And if it does how is the ride stability excetera for the truck for daily use other towing or just driving around at 80 miles an hour? Is the quality still there or best to stay with the torsion bars based on the Chevy the end GMC platforms research
Hey there! Currently own a 2015 Chevrolet 2500HD LTZ Z71. Getting this BDS 4.5 shortly. Would rather run a 20x10 -12 offset instead of the 9" wide wheel with a +20/+1. Will be running 35x12.50x20 BFG K02's. Do you think I would run into any issues? Metal mods, or only valence trimming? Thanks for your time, appreciate it!

Nice video! Pick up a 2017- 2500HD Denali about couple months ago and want to put a BDS 4.5" suspension/ fox shock upgrade and running 35x12.50x20 toyo open country MT on factory wheels. Do i need front spacer? Are front tire going to rub against the fender. BTW I like factory wheels look. thank

So the rear lift block's in this kit are like folded plate? That's kinda crazy.
Looks great with the rake. I'm not a fan of seeing these trucks with the rear lower than the front - looks like they are overloaded without a load!
Damn bruh done a few of these huh?? Awesome video! A couple questions if you don't mind, would you recommend this lift for a 2002 Chevrolet 2500HD crew cab? The truck is bone stock and not looking to get too crazy and preferably something could be done in the backyard so to speak. The BDS kits definitely seem extremely well made. Thanks.
BDS is a very well made company and definitely one of our favorites if it is available for your vehicle. But it all depends on how much lift you want, what you do with your vehicle, what your budget is, etc etc.

So much work for a 4.5" lift. Wow! Anyone else think the sway bar link looked cheap compared to the rest of the kit?
The extra work is because the Denali's have "Magna Ride" suspension.......A regular "non Magna Ride" installation wouldn't be as labour intensive :)
@@SuperMetallllica Magn ride is only on the 1500. 2500s and up use regular shocks in all four corners. The extra work is because GM uses IFS in their trucks.
I have a 2018 2500. Which would be better, a 4 inch or 3? Would 35s clear with 3 or 4?
Also is it true the truck rides smoother then factor stock?

Would the +1 be 1”? These offset designations are confusing for me: I really like the stance of this build. Everything is nice and tight in the wheel wells.

Hell the labor alone cost more than the kits, that’s some serious work and knowledge.
All the suspention components literally sit halfway down that gian square wheel well. WTF Chevy!?!

On BDS website they say that you need 4.5-4 5/8 backspacing. Don’t hose rims 5” backspacing?
6" on a stock 20" So thats how it fits
do guys do any other lifts like a sky jacker lift for the same truck just would like to see one being installed...???

Are the steering knuckles on the 4" BDS lift wider than stock knuckles? If so what size wheel spacers are required to square up with the fronts? Thanks Guts!
Depending on the vehicle, and which lift setup you go with. But for a 4.5" lift you shouldn't need it. BDS Does a pretty good job of keeping them even front to rear!

if i used this kit on a 2016 silverado 2500hd duramax, could i run 20 x 12 or 22x12 inch wheels with 35" or 36" tires? Also im sure the add a leaf aids in the truck still being able to tow heavier loads opposed to bot using them correct?? do they make the rides more harsh??
Sean Faulk I’m not sure why they didn’t go 22 inch with 35s you can easily fit them with a 1 inch bumper spacer. I’ve seen them on many ticks I’m doing the same on mine and the shop that’s doing it says it can easily work they have done it many times

This vid helped me a ton installing my BDS 4.5 the last three days! When I was done my kit still had two thick washers left over and no mention to where they go in the instructions, do you guys know where these were intended for?

Installing a lift kits looks very labor intensive. I suppose that's why it costs so much to have truck shops install them

Farm Lyfe you could turn your torsion bars up .5" and shouldn't affect the ride too much.

john mason use a air driven tool called a picklefork.

Iv been searching for a BDS lift kit for my 2016 silverado 1500 in 2wd but I'm only available to find it in 4wd it'll be nice if I can get some help
yaquis lSE dude just do any BDS 4wd kit. Your ok, only difference is that you will have a few spare parts, if you don't believe me call BDS them self to confirm. I went that route I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 2wd and installed their 4" BDD lift for 4x4 with no problem

Did you use regular fox stuck shocks or with a lift fox ? I ask because I wanna buy shocks for my truck that I got that it’s already lift it 4-6 inch I think and I don’t know how to buy shocks

Every shop varies in price, drastically. We average $1000 or so

To be honest it’s just best to go ahead and buy a 4x4 already lifted to your standards. Just getting these expensive lifts put in your looking at some serious cash . 💰 Well that’s just my opinion on what I learned.

I went to start my BDS lift this weekend, UPS destroyed one of the boxes upon delivery, and BDS sent me 2 driver-side knuckles. Now I wait. 🤦🏼♂️👎🏽
