      300 lines of dynamic resolution is an excellent "gaming" display =) Fewer lines than CRT. Real 4K is only static. Super clear photo frame =)

      Real Question: does it support any picture-in-a-picture video viewing from the multiple inputs ?
      oh, and 'ULTRAGEAR 48' :-) It would be perfect if it has picture-in-a-picture for multiple inputs (PC, Cable, Blu-Ray, Dish, etc)

  • @SeaJay_Oceans
    @SeaJay_Oceans 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    The nice thing about OLED for PC use: Set your desktop background to just a Black screen, and those pixels go completely dark.
    Then the window panels you open effectively you can make the choice of how big your screen is for the work area.
    Very easy on the eyes while you work on video, graphics, speadsheets or text.
    (and still plenty extra 'real estate' to pop up streaming video, your favorite sports, a movie, or security cameras video feed along the edges...)

    Picked up this monitor on a Black Friday deal. My plan was for this to replace my 34" LG ultrawide for work and gaming. Ultimately I just could not get used to this monitor for productivity, it was simply too tall and due to the monitor having no adjustments, I could not get set up ergonomically, so I experienced neck strain, and the concerns with burn in altered my work flow layout in order to avoid it. I love this monitor so much for gaming however that instead of returning it, I set up a separate desk for this monitor and am now running dedicated work and gaming setups. Also, the latest firmware for this monitor has completely eliminated the brightness issues, I found it behaved no different than any other monitor, even while using it for productivity. The combination of the updated firmware and easily being able to find it under $700 right now makes it an incredible bargain.

    • @elmalloc
      @elmalloc 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Can you go into a little more detail about the brightness issue and latest firmware? Im' thinking of getting 3 of them for sim racing, thanks!

    • @doug339
      @doug339 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@elmalloc The issue was that the display was dimming quickly when performing productivity tasks, as there wasn't enough changing on screen to prevent the burn-in mitigation features from kicking in. The latest firmware changed this behavior, and it works fine for productivity. This monitor would be amazing in triples for sim racing. I have a separate triples setup for sim racing, but if I had the means to configure these as triple monitors and drive 3 4k screens, I would absolutely do it. None of the dimming features would have impacted you in this regard, even in the previous firmware.

    The price of this is a little high. I still use my LG CX 48” as my main monitor. It’s not too big if you wall mount it and have it at a farther distance back or just have a really deep desk that can support the weight at the very edge.

      @Thomas Shears 4k gaming is definitely the future but it's too soon for 95% of people.
      We jumped over 2k way too quickly and the 4k high fps requirements for gaming illustrate that perfectly. On a huge screen it makes sense, but on pc monitor sizes? It's wasted on the low end.

    Currently on sale for $700 at LGs site. You can add their $150 airpod knock offs to the cart and they are free as well. $742 after tax, free shipping, bonus earbuds which are actually not terrible at all. It's a really great deal right now. The best OLED deal I've seen in months.
    I returned one of the new 39 inch 240Hz LG Ultrawide OLED for this one after trying both of them out for a little over a week. I am definitely happy with my choice.
    It's roughly the same price as the 27 inch 240Hz OLEDs but almost 4x the size at the sacrifice of aboue 100Hz of refresh. The lower refresh really isn't as big a deal for OLED as it was with IPS/VA panels. The response time is just so much lower that it feels amazing, even at a much lower refresh rate. If you get any of these OLED monitors I would really suggest trying out 120Hz vs 180Hz vs 240Hz, etc... It was really surprising to me but I really feel like any 120Hz OLED is just as good as its 240Hz IPS equivalent. Going from 240Hz to 120Hz om the OLED felt exactly the same to me. Both were noticably smoother than the 180Hz IPS I've gotten used to using for the past couple years. OLED really is another great leap forward.

    I have purchased 3 monitors from LG with the most recent being a Gsync 34" widescreen. Every single one had a problem after a few months with vertical thin lines in the middle of the screen. The first two were sent to LG for repair and they were returned a few weeks later, having been fixed, only to develop the problem after a few months again.
    LG customer service in the US has proven to be one of the worst with a serious lack of support for it's customer base and I have stopped buying their monitors. I also check other brands to see if they are using a LG panel to ensure that I don't get the same issues.

      Not a monitor, but I have an LG fridge, and in just 3 years it's completely died and I need to replace it. Talking to others, it turns out that many people seem to have LG refrigerators die pretty fast. I'm really getting sour on LG as a brand.

      2:06 I wish LG would, on the back of their monitors, leave a cut out channel to run the cables down from a wall mounted display. Not many people hook these up to the wall, but a channel for the cabling would make surface mounts a little easier for surface mounted cable runs, instead of putting all the cables in the wall. The channel should be cut out down and to the right (from the front side). That way people can mount the monitor horizontally or vertically as needed for their application.

    I don't like the way you present browsing at min 9 at 100% scale. My 27" 4K monitor runs at 200% of picture scaling, which is a must in a 4K display.
    This is why 48" can be great for a PC is because you can cleanly scale it any way you want, especially when you don't do much document or spreadsheet editing (full white screen). In my case it's all multimedia, graphs, charts and moving lines. The monitor is made with a purpose for the purpose. If it fits yours, get it.

    This is why I don't trust "second-hand" reviews. What do I mean by this? Anything lower than the standard HDTVTest has set.
    You're clearly going off a spec sheet for the entire video and I don't detect any display technology experience present either, in the comments too. The language used is extremely vague and even hit or miss (for example, "deeper" blacks? The pixels are turned off, these are the deepest blacks possible on any display, there is no light). No personal tests run either, it's all "I looked at it and it was good, because [spec sheet number the company gives you]". No reference points presented, no solid metric to judge any aspect of a monitor, it's just all "great". No information on phenomena around these displays, just a very shallow understanding of how a screen works, again, just going off a spec sheet.
    This isn't a review, it's a sponsored-sounding overview. Whenever the concept of response time came on I rolled my eyes at how a reviewer in 2022-23 still doesn't understand that the milliseconds manufacturers use aren't indicative of absolutely anything and essentially don't matter in the response time you will experience, even when talking about OLEDs.

    AWESOME video, I'm figuring out components for a sim rig and narrowed it down to the 43" C3 and this. I was thinking the size of this might be too big for the distance on a sim rig, but it looks great on your setup. A question, a lot of people on Reddit recommend a floor standing mount vs a rig integrated one. They claim the integrated ones can lead to noticeable shaking from the FFB. Do you notice this at all? I'm looking at the Trak Racer TR8 Pro and am wondering which monitor mount to buy.

    Great first view on this monitor. I wonder about following:
    Is it lit well all around or are there darker or lighter spots here and there? Are all 3840 x 2160 pixels displayed or are some of them cut off at the edges? Are letters shown crystal clear and sharp in native resolution or is Fringing an issue?
    What kind of settings exist when feeding the monitor with a lower resolution than 4k? Is everything autostreched? Or can I display e.g. 2560 x 1440 without stretching the image and have black edges around it instead? Does it support integer scaling of smaller resolutions to e.g. 2 times or 4 times of their size and the rest filled with black edges?

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's well light all the way around so no issues there, actually just the other day I reduced the resolution to 1080 but the quality didn't seem that great on a PC. I'll test out 1440 but on the flip side why would want to take the resolution down if you have a 4K monitor best just to get a 1440 ?

    • @freezerfrieza8085
      @freezerfrieza8085 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GeekStreet Thx for your reply. What do you mean by the quality didn't look well by reducing it to 1080p? What did happen?
      Personally for me it would be super important that a screen provides following three options when feeding it with lower resolutions:
      a) Stretching the image it over the entire screen
      b) Stretching it with keeping the aspect ratio e.g. 4:3 and having black edges at the sides
      c) Displaying it 1:1 in the center with keeping the native resolution and black edges all around
      Ideally there would also be d) Integer Scaling
      Will be great to know if at least a) to c) are supported because those are kind of deal breakers for me.
      I basically do have two reasons for dealing with lower resolutions:
      1) Game limitations: Not all games (especially older ones) support 4k. And it is way better/sharper to display them with natural resolution in the center and black edges around it instead of stretch them super ugly over the entire screen.
      2) Hardware-limitations: For some games it is great to enjoy them in 4k but as they get more demanding at some point it might be better to take one step back and run them in 1440p or even 1080p resolution to have a more fluid experience.
      Unfortunately running games in Windowed mode is not always supported. And I think it is furthermore more protective for an OLED monitor when the LEDs around are turned off instead of having the same background around the window for hours.

    • @twinssword
      @twinssword 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the 1080 quality is because the monitor has difficulty with scaling down to non native resolution. Check retro forum or reddit too see this problem.

    Is it true the hdr performance on this monitor is a bit lacking? I heard the hdr mode crushes dark scenes into pure black and makes the rest of the image too blue. I love hdr gaming, I want to buy one but I'm afraid of a bad hdr output.

    ULTRAGEAR 48. As for me, a bit too large size to put it on a desk, and in turn too small to place it, for example, in the living room. They could be tempted to about 40" then it would be ok (I think so). Besides image quality looks stunning and this pilot looks phenomenal - is it practical ... I don't know (time would show)?

    • @jacksonville4932

      I think a monitor like this is especially for people who came from, say, an ultrawide. I have the Samsung G9, and its the 49 inch curve, but at 32:9. This was awesome at the start, and it is really good for productivity, but the 16:9 48 Inch would be a sufficient upgrade for me, as it adds more height, but also keeps that length that I like.
      I will know by next week, and I will be using both the G9 and this monitor side by side.

    Hi, man. I'm a graphics designer, but without using the graphics softwares, I'm planning to buy ps5 recently for gaming also but i dont understand which one i'll buy for a monitor,LG C2 Oled or this GQ Ultragear! Can you please recommend me? Is the PPI in this makes any difference for the text or gaming? Which one I should buy?

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  ปีที่แล้ว

      This monitor is optimised for use with a PC, whereas the LG C2 is TV. Personally I'd say this as is had a higher spec, a display port and more screen burnin protection. I've heard of people using a glossy screen like the C2 has and it causing headaches.

    • @RhysSGaming
      @RhysSGaming ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GeekStreet last question I promise (really helping me out here)
      My new desk will be 90cm deep. I've narrowed it down to this monitor vs the LG C2 (either 42" or 48"). I know the C2 is a TV with gaming capabilities vs this which is a monitor, would you lean one way over the other? I'll be getting thw GQ900 for £999, the C2 I'd get for £771?

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow your desktop is deep so either is fine, on C2 the colours will pop out more as the screen is glossy which will look awesome but the 48GQ900 has a matt finish so the colours won't pop out as much. Now if you have you screen near a window with the c2 you'll get alot of reflections and this could cause headaches which i read about online using a oled tv for a monitor a problem you wouldn't get with the 48GQ900. The 48GQ900 is optimised for gaming...so personally I'd be tempted to say the 48GQ900.
      Worse case scenario you can buy and if you don't like just return and get a C2.
      Hope that helps!

    I just want an OLED version of 38GL950-B :( The sphere lighting is great, the screen size is perfect... 1600p is king. • @e8root

      ALLM is not needed for this monitor as it is pretty much always in game mode. Also you do not need 1440p and even if you for whatever reason wanted 1440p it works with VRR. That said this monitor has broken HDR as it cuts lots of dark details making them black. So if you returned it then you made a right decision. Sound issues you describe I never heard
