  • Since the beginning we have been feeding Mouse a grain-free diet. When we tried to add some rice for Mouse to gain weight, he vomited and had loose stools. We did a food sensitivity test called "Pawllergy" where we realized he is highly sensitive to rice, turkey, duck, abalone and blueberries amongst other items. The decision to switch was after we read up more about bioavailability of Kibbles vs Fresh Food (Cooked or Raw). Mouse did well with Kibbles: Orijen 6 Fish (protein level above 30%) but lost weight rapidly when we fed Nuture Pro Original Love Salmon with Fish Oil (protein about 20%). Do research and balance out what works best for you and your doggies in the long run as diet will affect your dog's future health conditions!
Amount of food to feed your dog depends on its age, activity level and current health condition. On a regular note, you can feed 2-3% of your dog's weight per day. For Mouse, he is slightly underweight as his ribs are visible at times, so we can increase to 5-6%.
    Our breakdown for his meals:
75% Muscle Meat: Chicken Thigh or Pork Cubes
10% Bones: Chicken Wing Tip (Raw)
5% Liver: Pork Liver (Lamb and Beef Liver are more fatty and can be reduced)
    5% Secreting Organs: Beef Spleen
5% Fiber: Mix of Vegetable Peels (Carrot, Mushroom, Broccoli, Spinach, Cabbage etc)
Let us know if you cook for your dogs or what type of food do you feed your dogs! It is always a learning journey when it comes to being a dog owner.
