Absolutely spot on! This man is a living legend, and one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time! its straight from the heart with this guy! as well as the whole band but Robert ( Night Train! ) Cray! and Richard are just at the top of their game! Blew the roof off the place in NJ August 26th!
One of the things I really appreciate about Robert Cray, is the completely unadorned nature of his performances. He just shows up on stage in a pair of slacks and a plain long-sleeved shirt, picks up his guitar, and begins to play and sing. No flashing lights, no costumes, no jumping around like a cricket on a hot skillet. Just great musicianship, great singing, and superb songwriting. So refreshing.
@ Grey Jay... I just want to say I appreciate that you appreciate Robert Cray. Less is more with R.C. Nobody is smoother and fluid like in his guitar mastery. Jam on Brother in these confusing times we are in.
Cool song, I am lated deaf, do remember a couple next door thin walls back in the day, keeping me and my girl friends awake with their arguments, sort of a middle of night soap opera,ha!🤔😎
I TRUELY APPRECIATE EVERY WORD ALL OF HIS FANS HAVE TO SAY. YOU LET ME KNOW THAT I AM NOT ALONE. HIS MUSIC HAS BEEN A PART OF MY LIFE. THANKS XANMAN714😁😁😁
He sounds as good as he did in the 70's!! This guy has been around for a lot longer than most think. He has played with the best and is one of the best. Not flash, just pure talent
I grew in the Stevie Ray Vaugn error in Austin, Texas and was fortunate enough to get to see some of the best blues any young bass player could hope to see over a lifetime if they were lucky. Always thought Robert Cray was a class act. The blues is the blues, but when you can put your own stamp and signature on your own blues, thats when it's special. Freddy King, Buddy Guy, Stevie, Rober Cray, Albert Collins, were the soundtrack to my story.
Introduced to him.byba friend when he was touring up and down the west coast and i knew he was to become a big sensation. And that he is...when Eric Clapton met him..he said where have you been ?!!!
Maybe but he plays with great force he really digs in those strings very hard. I think he improvise too in this song falsetto singing some places and guitar solo little different than record. He plays only few notes but they mean a lot.
Mark Knopfler is another unappreciated talent. People have heard of Dire Straits, of course. Incredibly most do not know the name of the guy up front. When new MK records are released, only those "in the know" realize what is there. He's been putting out new recordings about every two years,, starting with Golden Heart in'96, he's been making new music on a regular basis. Of artists that are close to him in age, he is the only one who consistently puts out great new music.
I don't think he wants the fame and the stardom. Not that he doesn't deserves it. He's a frontman, lest we forget. At this point he knows hes appreciated by the ones that listens to him. He's reconized in the industry, having won Grammys, tells us this, but He never went after the ''Big Fame'' as a choice, I think. Never had that ''Attitude'' that alot of artists have ( all discipline included ) of the rock star. He never cared and I always respected him so much for that. And its also why he strikes such a deep chord into me. I Love his guitar playing and its always SO on point, its crazy. But I always loved him so much more for his vocal, they soots my soul to the core.
First time I ever saw Robert Cray Band was about 15 years ago when he opened for Buddy Guy. Couldn't have cared less about the headliner, Robert Cray Band stole the show. They were so smooth and so tight, I remember just closing my eyes and taking it all in. It was like I was listening to a CD but with so much heartfelt emotion and dynamics. Robert Cray is a master and without a doubt the best live act I have ever seen.
Saw him open for Huey Lewis News and yes, Tina Turner ( Thunder Dome) tour, no joke, in Auburn , AL at University Coliseum there, i was 10? Incredible from what I can remember.,....would later come to appreciate RC' s music/ and no effects style much more as I got older, listing, playing guitar...
I just saw Robert and his band in Clearwater last night. Blows me away. It’s been six years between performances and last night was spot on. His guitar is so clean. His voice is amazing. It doesn’t sound as if he’s aged a day. A living legend.
I'm 66 years old... I've been to the BEST concerts this world has to offer... but the one.....I'm gonna cry... lol... the ONE..... the BEST CONCERT was Stevie Ray Vaughan and Rober Cray.... on the "RIVER BOAT NATCHEZ" we left the dock in New Orleans... and what happened next was the most incredible performance by two eficianado gutarists!! They did a "DUALING GUTIAR' deal... and they were breakin the strings, and new guitars were being thrown to'em .. it was un FUCKN' BELIEVABLE!!! I've been to the best.... I've seen the best... THIS was now 40 years later..... the ultimate concert as we rolled down the Mighty Mississippi!!! I'll take it to my grave....
I was fortunate to see him at an empty Garden District mansion in New Orleans very late one summer evening. Maybe 30 people there. Warm beer. Warm whiskey. Sticky with sweat and smoke. Ghosts were dancing in the shadows. He shook the house to the rafters. Been a fan ever since!
Richard Cousins, you're really good, without your way of bass playing this song would never exist ,,, congratulations, .. .Robert ...without comment, ...always good!
What a bassline accompanied by such an incredible voice..He really was born with a guitar in his hand ..I love the ending of this version it has a doors vibe to it !!
Saw Robert Cray Band on Saturday in Edinburgh on his current tour. He’s just so good, as was the rest of the band. An absolute must see - pure class all round👏👏👏
Anyone who had played guitar knows how difficult it is to do that. Especially when you close your eyes and let the music flow. Most people wouldn't think it to be that way. But it is. Respect.
@@guinness77100 That bit at the end is quite impressive, many people try to play with dynamics like that but I never heard someone pull it off this good. Also, this is an insanely amazing live sound!
This is otherworldly...from start to finish he grabs a hold of your heart and holds it tight and doesn't let go till he's done..Robert thank you for this.
Young Bobby has more talent in a cut off piece of his toenail, than any song writer, singer, guitar player, vocalist, composer, front man, genius.. ON THIS PLANET PERIOD YO!!! If anyone ever has the chance to see Bobby Live, jump on it!!! His shows are a fucking treat!! I once was at one of his performances, couldn't get tickets to get in... I found a piece of cardboard had a sharpie in my whip, and wrote NEED 3 TICKETS on it. After holding the cardboard in front of every person possible, I said fuck this, and went over to a guy who was guarding a side door, gave him 60 bucks to let the three of us in. No problem dude, he then guided us right up in front of the stage, damn shit couldn't be any better yo!! Show started, it was awesome, big time, I held up my cardboard along with a sharpie, and just held it there, after his show a person was shining a flashlight, and pointing at my face then he called me over, and said Mr. Cray wants to give me his autograph, wow I was in disbelief so I gave him my cardboard that says NEED 3 TICKETS then took it backstage, and Yong Bobby signed it he gave it back to me. It's been 20 years, and I still have it framed hanging in my music room. Young Bobby, I love you my Irish cousin. Keep on with the keeping on cuz!!
Saw Robert Cray with Clapton at the United Center in Chicago in 2006, Cray joined Clapton and the band for the song "Old Love" and played the longest guitar solo of the night. He brought the house down! That and Clapton's solo on I shot the sheriff were the highlights of the night.
I have seen Robert, little Bob Cray 3 times in KC, every show I wished would not stop. In 1990 I bought an old 1970 MGBGT with a cassette player in it and put the tape Strong Persuader in the tape deck, it stayed there for 3 years until I sold the car, so if you rode with me in the MGBGT, you were going to hear Robert Cray, or get out of the car and walk to your destination, no hard feelings of course. The sound of the car and Robert Cray was fantastic to the ear.
Rick! I'm blown away you're a MG and a Robert Cray fan!! Next time you're in Seattle, contact me. I'll give you an address of a certain blues club in Tacoma!
Saw Robert at the Grand Opra in Wilmington, DE in 2000 or 2001. Had a half hour conversation with him outside in the cold. What a really humble and great guitarist! One of the best shows I've ever seen!!! If you can't feel his playing you're dead!
I saw this great singer/guitarist/songwriter about a month ago, year:2019. I had previously seen him in the '80s right after he released his best LP: Strong Persuader. After all these years, he is as good or better than ever. The blues can sometimes be a bit boring to me--but that is not the case with Robert Cray. His great voice has not changed a bit. That unique guitar playing has not done anything but get better. I find it hard to believe that so few people have ever even heard of this remarkable talent. What a shame that is, They do not know what they are missing!
Man Robert and Richard have an incredible chemistry...it just didn't have the same "stank" without Cousins...here it is obvious that the magic is back!!!
Robert Cray Oh man what can I say he's so underappreciated under rated and to me he is the blues. He's so smooth and cool. He's all about the beautiful music and the guitar. Robert you are awesome!

On a scale of 1 to 10..A 10+..let's hear it for the boy..Robert Cray !!

Under Credited, underappreciated, under paid. What an absolute legend. As Clapton insinuated - a soulful genius which appreciated music over fame

Indeed.
I have had the privilege to see him live 2x’s & he is as good as it gets. Love me some Robert Cray!

Incredible voice!! Great player too! His #1 guitar hero was the "Iceman". The great Albert Collins! That kinda says it all. Wow!
It's been years and years and I keep coming back.
Who are you bro?
Robert Cray helped keep the blues alive.
Brilliant vocalist and guitarist extraordinary. ❤❤❤❤
Robert Cray is an unbelievable, under rated and under appreciated blues man. He sounds as good now as he did in the 90s.
He sounds as good as he did in the 70's!! This guy has been around for a lot longer than most think. He has played with the best and is one of the best. Not flash, just pure talent

Yes .Don't know his history but BB King must've been his inspiration
Yes. No flash but he can't hide his sex appeal

Great blues, musician, singer and entertainer.
real music unlike what we have today well done mr cray!
Robert Cray is such a smooth and cool dude. An underappreciated blues icon.

doesn't rely on pedals nor using pedalboard, just pure guitar and amplifier tone. Love you Robert ❤
Three amplifiers!
Storytelling on the highest level possible. Such a beautiful song
So smooth and effortless with those notes both singing and playing. The young generation Z are missing out on real musicians.
Long time not heard, takes me back to mid 80,remembering our younger days, now 60 yrs old.
Smooth as silk. He's a musical genius. I love the arrangement of this song. The other musicians playing in this are also on another level. 👏👏👏
A soul singer that so happens to be one of the purest guitarist around.
Anytime a performer sounds like the recording.
That's real Talent..no bullshit
he's in the mood.

This is great music......nothing fancy.....just the stuff we all need. Why didn't I know about Robert before?
Fab, Fab - Richard Cousins is awesome too, and very appealing!
Growing up in an era of The Robert Cray band since the eighties, is so thankfull to tell my grandchildren. Enjoying a moment worth a lifetime.
We have seen Robert Cray, at least 5 times in the Chicago area, he never seizes to amaze us.

I have loved Robert's music since I first heard him. What a voice and guitar playing.
for real, authentic blues - beautiful soul
The best thing about Robert is his voice. Then the guitar solo plays. And I change my preference. Again.
March 10th at Penns Peak! Tickets purchased 💯 Can’t wait… 1 ticket so I can actually watch the master class
I grew up with them since the 70's my grandmother would play the on a vinyl player
