Ele é único ❤
This video was ahead of it's time
I was 15 when I first heard this. Saw Robert Cray at the Coogee Bay Hotel, Sydney in the late 1980s and I am here now at 52, still enjoying this brilliant performer.
A wonderful voice, great guitar work and a great story teller through his music.
What a complicated world we live in…
She’s just another notch on my guitar, cold 🥶
Incredible blues guitarist ,singer and so handsome!
that helped him be "such a strong persuader"
One of the grooviest guitar riffs ever
A song that has beat, melody and a huge soul. This is no ordinary song. This is special.
Criminally underrated
He is such a gentleman too, I seen him at the town Hall in Sydney Australia, He gave me his plectrum and the hand towel he had been using on stage. Just an all round excellent musician, singer and song writer. A true gentleman..that was in the very early 90's I still have the towel the pick got mixed up with my own but I still use that brand and I have 1 that is so rounded off its unusable now I believe it is the plectrum he gave me, won't swear it but seems like it..
Brings tears to my eyes! My parents, but deceased, absolutely loved Robert Cray! And who could blame them, he's amazing!!
I've been listening to Robert Cray for 40 years !
This is a real blues standard.
It will never ever lose it's listening appeal
A real blues master
2023
Me too. My cousin's husband lived across the street and he would blast this song after work and I loved Robert ever since. Truly a legend, saw him back in his heyday around 92 👊🏿
I am 63 years old today and come from Germany. When I was backpacking through Asia in 1986 with my best friend (RIP brother🙏), I bought the Strong Persuader cassette by Robert Cray from a street vendor in Bangkok without ever having heard of him before. Since then, his fantastic music and very good lyrics have accompanied me through good times and bad (now via Spotify or TH-cam). Timeless and incredibly good music. Keep it up Robert!
This guy here is one of the most phenomenal guitarist out there. He certainly has his own sound. I'm not sure it's blues in the true sense. It's Robert Cray and he is in his own world. As a guitarist myself I can listen to this guy play and sing for hours. Truly underrated.
Real blues is usually acoustic
but there's definitely Blues elements in this
as well as Jazz.
R 'n' B maybe?
I don't know.
It's music.
Amen James. He is a legend for sure...to me he is as good as it gets.
@@abegarfield7031 I call it electric blues...better yet just wonderful music all the way around!
This man knows how to play the guitar like Jimi Hendrix Eric Clapton and all the rest of them and can put it down that man knows how to play
He reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughan... in so many GREAT ways! Rob has his own sound, yet he is so GREAT!! Just like SRV was!!❤
1986 Grammy winner . Robert is underrated.
Grammys are tone deaf overated,Robert is genius with guitar!!😎😆
So True
Robert Crays' staccato style of lead guitar playing is stunning, he doesn't rely on sustain and what avoice. The man is a legend

True daht 🌹
Just saw him yesterday and I swear his voice has not changed. It’s amazing.
@@signsofthetimessignsofposi9030 Where was the gig? Thanks.
Hands down one of the all time greats! His ability to make the guitar sing and cry in that signature tone of his is unforgettable! His guitar is truly an extension of his smooth and soulful voice, and what I sense he is feeling deep inside. I wish I could sing and play like that!
2021 Anyone???
Great mid 80s blues music, I even went to one of his concerts in 1988 in Auckland, so unbeatable.
True has he been to Nz?
I got to see Robert Cray, and the late SRV play the Texas blues fest. It was a glorious day of blues that made everyone CRAYzeee! SRV and Robert were very close and did alot of touring together. In fact we're very fortunate that we didn't lose Robert that same day. They usually traveled together.
RIP SRV..
I am going to see him tomorrow night.
Einfach mega suuuuuuper
Strong Persuader is a really great blues album!
I love this song. Always have. I happened to be on Beale Street in Memphis, TN back in July. Went into a music store and they played this song at my request. Even sang it with an elderly man who I only know as "Smokey". He knew all the words. Just goes to show that great music lasts forever.
I love to put this album at parties and the mood shifts people singing dancing laughing everyone a expert on guitar 😂💙🧡
sure was underated
19 years old just grabbed this album vinyl for 4 bucks getting into them and wow beautiful blues man !!!! love learning about the past and finding great musicians this way✌🏽
That's how you do it friend 👌
Wow my friend...I am envious now. That album came out in 1986! I can tell you where I was when I first heard it on the radio. It's so great that young people like you are finding this stuff out at an early age. No, I don't want to go back to those days, but I do cherish them. He's still on my bucket list for shows. Look for an album called "Showdown" , by Collins , Copeland & Cray. You will slowly find that key, to open up that door to a wonderful world of blues!! Peace, my friend.✌♥️
Robert Cray has so much more material out there since this song and album were produced. He has more than 20 albums. I love his voice and guitar playing. Simply amazing!
A great pilgrimage to be on bruv.🙏👍😎
@@johnroseman9087 my uncle who just turned 53 saw cray live and said it’s one of the best shows he’s ever seen. I hope you achieve this bucket list item
I think Robert Cray's solos, come as close to vocals, as anyone I've ever heard.
When he stops singing to play his lead, he's still singing! Literally!!!!
It's spine tingling.
Could listen to him all day.
What exquisite tone. Robert Cray was part of sort of a quiet blues explosion in Rock and Roll that went on through the nineties, at least in the South. Love this song. Robert Cray is an incredible talent.
Why would 1k people firstly find this song and then dislike it, Fuckin mental. Its Robert Cray the music flows freely people like a river
Proper music for proper people
Seriously, who bothers to watch a video with such talent, to then give it a thumbs down? Robert is a fantastic musician.
Every Cray is unreal. The most under rated guitarst alive
+Tommy Preer and a great singer too
+Tommy Preer I remember him from the 90's. So very smooth and melodic
how true brother
How can Cray be under-rated when he plays beside Clapton and BB King et al? But I see what you mean.
+Chawki Nacef LOL
If Robert Cray isn't on your list of Great Blues Players, then your list needs work as it's incomplete, enough said.
Damn, couldn't of said it better!
I dont have a Great Blues Players. Checkmate!
Yes..

@@maxinehuirama7673 - That blues lick that goes with "say goodbye" is so perfect. That's song-writing, as well, I guess. 2:18
One of the best combinations of voice and guitar tone ever in the music history. Cray is a living legend. All respect for his dedication to the Blues.
I used to like this song as a late teen. Now that I am older than Robert Cray was at the time this song was released, I am amazed how mature he was (and is) as a musician. This is a wonderful tune by the great musician! I feel that I am fortunate that I have known his music.
My favorite song. GREETINGS FROM SERBIA!
This man is a STAR 🌟. Absolutely beautiful voice..
God I love this song.Robert Cray is genius

Apart from the funk and beauty of the melody, such a caring song. Hurtin blues sayin I wish I hadn’t done that babe...

Excellent . Nothing comes even close in these days .
Awesome song. Robert cray is SMOOTH!!
this is real music unlike whats out there today!
Love this man's voice. He is from right next to where i live. I hope he keeps singing
In the vibrant atmosphere of the 80s, my mother didn't miss any opportunity to have fun. And then came that fateful night when I was conceived between stacks of paper and empty bottles by Robert Clay. I am the son of a blues legend, and that's truly something special. I can only imagine how deep the music runs through my veins. It's in my DNA to carry on this musical legacy and write my own story. I will do my best to live out my passion for the blues and inspire the world with my music.
Whole tune is just a masterpiece.
THE MAN!!!
Love this song. Steve Wright RIP xx

I was in the audience right alongside Robert Cray when he performed this track on 'Later, with Jools Holland'. I thought all my Christmases had come at once. Legend.
That's cookin,lucky lucky you
The bass on this song is also awesome! It very much completes Roberts playing style
Richard and Robert were in a band with my guitar teacher, Jho Blenis, back in the 1970’s in Tacoma WA.
The bands name was Foghorn Leghorn…no kidding!
24/04/2020 still love this...im 63..when it came out Robert was the man
Was brought up on Robbie Cray as young as 2 years old. Love, love, love xxxooo
This song gets me every time, in so many ways. ❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸
beyond handsome and talented Keep rocking the Universe, Robert.
Thanks, will do!
Going to see him July 13 2024! Saw him first in 1987😮 Charlotte NC!!!
Lucky you!
Robert Cray never loses his youth
I been around a long, long time......heard 'em all....Muddy, Johnny W., Stevie Ray, B.B., Big Twist, all the Alberts....you get the picture.... Robert Cray is my absolute favorite. Never heard a voice like his, or songs like his. Laid a lot of pipe to his music. Nothing was better!
yes, yes, yes
Yes and smart enough to havea good background of talented musicians
Yeah, I know what yer sayin. Me too. Without being genre specific there are many very good blues guitar players out there although some are dead now. Alvin Lee, Mark Knofler, Gary Moore Joe Satriani ,David Gilmore to name just a few.
He makes the guitar talk, his voice is so smooth, I saw him in concert in Tucson, and enjoyed every minute!
Fark yeah
Ohhhh whoa whoa
Smooth operator. So fine.
One of my best friends died in 1987 in a car accident, he loved this song , so everytime i hear this song i think of him, always in my heart Dear Clemens😪😪

omi53 Nice story :)
I bought this album back in '86 when it first came out and haven't listened to it in a long time. Tell you what though, these songs sound just as good as they did back then. Absolutely timeless. I know some blues purists don't think Robert is gritty enough but I say balls to that. He's a great player, writes a great tune and has a great voice. Nowt more that one can ask for I think.
Wear it out.
After all those years I still love this song!!
Listening in 2024
😎🤟🎶🎶🎸
Right up there with Stevie Ray, Clapton and B.B. King as a guitarist. one of the cleanest sound you'll hear from a guitarist.
YES I LIKE ROBERT CRAY
Curtis Conner
I saw Stevie Ray, B.B. King and Robert Cray together at Rockefeller's, a small venue in Houston not long before Stevie Ray died in a plane crash. I also saw Ricky Nelson at the same venue and he died in a plane crash not long after I saw him, also... Crazy. Both were awsome concerts.
Curtis Conner can't forget Gary Moore
This guy is an amazing talent but he's no Stevie Ray.
