I thought the advice about compression socks and kitchen shoes was going to turn into an ad... and I was SHOCKED when you said you got those shoes from the thrift store. I didn't believe at first that that segment was just honest, compassionate advice for home cooks - and I am so pleasantly surprised it was. I love that kind of advice!!
Haha! Absolutely, darlin’-there are so many compression sock brands to choose from and I’m not an expert on anyone else’s feet but my own, but the church mother’s, my grandma and mom all keep a pair of house shoes to help with back and body support and fatigue. It’s a noticeable difference after just one use! I garden on a deck so I share about my Greenstalk planters and I can a lot so I mention For Jar. TH-cam is my hobby and I fully intend keep my professional job and work until I retire. 🥰
Works for us service workers, so yeah, do the same at home
Compression socks are the way to go for everyone.
@@BecomingaFarmGirl even if it was an ad segment - i would not be mad - you bring fire content and if it was a sponsorship, you would deserve it!!! I know you won't be out there promoting items unless it was economical and quality.
So proud of you girl for learning to hunt! I just took up hunting 2 years ago. Nothing yet but will be so rewarding when I get my first deer. My husband has been pretty successful. We process our own deer, too. That will be another skill to look into. It will save you $$ processing yourself rather than having a butcher do it. Keep it up Cassandra! You are such an encouragement to so many of us!
Reading your comment made me smile from ear to ear knowing that there are other female hunters. I 'm committed to developing my skills over the long term and over the winter and spring will leverage getting out to the range to practice shooting. I am so appreciative for our state sponsoring this program, and, I'm excited about all of the other skills I'll learn while out on my first few hunts even if I don't get my first deer. You are absolutely right about processing your own deer at home. If I'm fortunate enough, that's exactly what I plan to do! I've got a long heavy dinning room table and wooden floors so I'm ready! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
I have been hunting deer for a few years now my husband got me into it and has shown me processing. We typically use as much as we can, tenderloin, backstraps, roasts, stew meat, grind for burgers and sausage. Mostly put in food saver bags later can some if freezer getting full. Last few years we have also been grinding the tougher and more fatty areas for dog food as a topper to add good protein for them also. They also love it.
Watch Arms Family Homestead. Daniel's daughter Emma Lee got a huge buck at about age 11. They hunt their. own land. Over 100 acres Homestead.
I cannot say in proper words just how much I enjoy and value your content, not to mention the enthusiasm that goes along with it. Thank you so much!
Good luck hunting. You can do this. Processing a deer is like processing a huge rabbit. The meat will taste better when you do everything yourself. I love seeing more woman hunting and can't wait to see how your first day goes. Even if you don't get a deer, being in nature is so rewarding in itself, have fun, and be safe, most of all enjoy.
I love the absolute joy and excitement when you are talking to your dad about your day!!
I was so proud of myself that day and excited to have met so many skillful hunters. Truly, my heart felt so full and appreciative for the opportunity and I knew my dad would have the initial reaction of being shocked, but also reconcile that "one thing leads to another" :) The nickname "Calamity Jane" might stick! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
I checked my local area and they have becoming an outdoor woman group! I didn't even know that was a thing!! So thank you!!
I am looking forward to starting the process for my hunting license and now will have a group to teach me 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving and I look forward to seeing the video of you processing your deer
I do too!! I love the dad conversations
I am a nurse and can def vouch for the compression socks. Consider them “anti-fatigue” socks. After a 12 hour shift I always still have energy when I get home to do necessary chores.
Amen, sister! They are the best investment that too few folks share. So glad to hear you’re already on this tip!
Also look for "football" or "soccer" socks, as these are almost the same as compression socks and a lot less expensive.
You are just growing by leaps and bounds as a homesteader. Your videos are so encouraging and informative. It's a joy to watch you. Thanks for the great advise on the socks and discounts. I wish that 20 years ago that there weren't the programs around that there are today. I would have been right there with you. Thanks for keeping me motivated and believing that I can do this too,
I've been hunting most of my 65 years. So proud of you sweet pea. This new skill could feed your family with healthy organic food.
Amen, friend! I was shocked at the statistic that the number of folks that hunt has dropped so low. What a blessing to have been raised with such a valuable skill. To others, it may be a “stretch” for hat Im hunting, but 1 to 2 deer a season, along with a few rabbits and other birds is a viable way to get good clean meat (as you mentioned). Now that I have a baseline for harvesting and food preservation I’m so glad I can explore this skill. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Watching you talk about hunting had me beaming with joy, as if I was watching my daughter. My little girl is almost 23 now and she’s been a hunter since she was 10 years old and she loves it. I’m so proud of you, you’ve grown so much since I started following your journey! 💞
Use the turkey fat when making biscuits. Replace the fat with room temp turkey fat, chicken fat even leftover beef fat. Make a wonderful creamy soup and then dine. I recently made corn beef brisket. I strain the fat after cooking, it was infused with flavor from the spices I used with the brine. I made biscuits and used end season berries mixed with a little sugar and fresh whipped cream, so good.
Wendy, say what? This makes perfect sense as I've used chicken fat for biscuits, but never turkey. Honey, I thank you so much for this recommendation. I need an invitation to your kitchen because YOU are my kind of cook! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Oh my goodness! It’s the sweetest thing ever when you call your dad! ❤️
Your Dad is such a delight!!❤. I always tune in to learn something. But I get a bonus with the family cameos. May all of you have a blessed Thanksgiving.
Haha, isn't he? I really lucked out with him! Thank you for the encouraging words my friend. I pray that you and yours have a blessed Thanksgiving as well.
Congratulations on getting into the program! I do wish you luck. You should be so happy and proud of yourself for the level ups you are getting in your skills. This is so great!
Hello friend! It pays to be patient. I was wondering if my application had fallen into the abyss, so when I received the email, I was too tickled! I'm so appreciative that our Department of Natural Resources has allocated a budget to grooming new hunters, because, without a mentor it's hard to access the hunting world. I certainly have realistic expectations, and there's so much I'm learning about wildlife habitats and conservation that is just fascinating. I'll keep you posted on my progress, but thank you for the encouragement! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
So proud of you! I was 50 when I handled my first weapon. I got to shot everything from an old revolver to a sighted rifle. (Don't ask me specs - I don't remember lol). Settled on a 9mil for now, but will get a rifle with hubby in the near future.
I love that you are learning to hunt; I started deer hunting a few years ago now in Australia. Our hunting culture is far from what it is in the northern hemisphere, but my husband and I are now at a point where we rarely eat beef - red meat in our house is venison. I'm a fellow 'homestead dreamer'; hunting allows me to have self-sufficiency for protein without needing the space to farm. Best of luck!
So happy for you! My ex husband hunted all of our time married. I helped process many deer, rabbits, quail, & pheasant. Even after we got divorced he still shared the meat with me. He has since passed away. But, I really miss the meat and the time people spend together processing hunted meat. I live in Illinois and we also have a very large deer population. Can't wait to hear about your hunt in December. You look like you are having the time of your life, and surprising your dad and his reaction was everything! I think they know you are serious now!
Hello friend! Oh yes, my folks know that I am very serious! And, I'm so appreciative that they are supportive. I didn't want to "worry" about things in advance so I waited to tell them. You described a beautiful scenario that I have experienced when helping others process their birds---its the quality time, conversation, and sense of accomplishment that comes with harvesting your own meat. It can't be beat. What a blessing to have had years of freshly harvested proteins--it's so rare. I couldn't believe the statistic that were down to single digits among the hunting population. I'll keep you posted on my December hunt! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl Thank you. Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to you and your family.
I am so proud of you Cassandra. I would love to learn to hunt. But at 66 I think I will leave it to the younger folks 😊. Growing up in NW Louisiana, my Dad and brother would duck hunt. We did not eat wild game at home though. Large fish fries were the extent of my Mom's nonbutcher shop meat cooking. You go, girl!
I always look forward to your videos! Your energy and enthusiasm is contagious. Thank you for posting ❤ Truly a pick me up for when I needed it the most
Hello friend! I just love that there is a community of folks that feel very similar to how I do about eating well on a budget, and leveraging what you've got. You already know I"m a tad crazy (but its the good kind). Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Just wanted to drop in and say that I just discovered your channel last week & I am SO glad that I did! I've been straight up BINGING on it! 😅 I'm a fellow Maryland girl (live in north Harford, used to work at Hopkins) who's obsessed with thrifting, recently bought my first house on around an acre, am currently learning to grow my own food am just getting into canning & food preservation. This channel, you and your family are AHMAZING! 💕
You cover everything on your videos, even our feet, lol. I love your advice on taking care of ourselves while we are trying to meal plan. Thank you! May you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving.
I just canned 25 bags of cranberries into juice, sauce, conserve, jam, and froze some for breads. I bought the bags for .75 cents each, name brand! I now have plenty of product to last me thru the year. Thanks again for some great recipes!
37:30 your smile is so precious when ur telling ur dad!!! Priceless..
Dang, Vanessa! Love that you are learning to hunt! The mentor program put on by your state sounds like an excellent way to learn properly. How exciting!!! Looking forward to that December Pantry Chat even more that usual. Also, I never thought about compression socks, but definitely wear my supportive Vionic slippers when cooking/canning. Makes such a huge difference. Take care 😊
The excitement and pride in your dads voice!!!!🎉
Awww! You heard it too! He’s my biggest encourager and while I waited to share with him about the hunt so that he wouldn’t worry, you’re right, he’s super excited for me. That, and he wants to take some deer meat home! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
I am 52 years old and began hunting about 7 years ago. It is something I really enjoy! Good luck!
YOU GO GIRL. Happy hunting.
You're officially my YT home-lifestyle girl crush now. I'm from Kansas, and have a picture of me at age 5, with a bunch of couins, all seated at a picnic table, a huge pile of quail on the table in front of us, all our uncles/dads/Gpa lined up behind us in their hunting gear. The kids cleaned all the quail. The wives/aunts cooked up a feast, which included a lot of home-canned veg!! You would fit in KS like butter on hot toast!!
Haha, I could picture this in my mind's eye because your description was THAT vivid. Honey, you described the good life. I reckon I would enjoy KS, but I'll need to stay in the tri-state area until I retire :) I pray that you and yours have a blessed Thanksgiving!
"Dad look at my outfit!" 😂😂😂❤ Dad's always act like they don't know what's going on! Lol love the video. Your journey is such a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing with us!
You said it! Since I video called him I thought it would hit him smack dab in the face! It’s not like I casually (or at all) wear camo! 😜 I have low expectations about getting a deer on my first few hunts, but the experience of watching the “woods wake up” is one that I’m so excited about. Have a blessed Thanksgiving my friend!
Cassandra you brought tears to my eyes! You are so amazing!! Im so excited for you and love watching! You are helping so many people who have like minded goals!! ❤❤ God bless you! You're moving mountains!! 💪💪💪
This year I roasted some carrots that I harvested from my garden. I noticed that my home grown roasted carrots, tasted like sweet potatoes! So that's so funny that you've added them to a sweet potato recipe.
Breaking down a deer carcass will come in handy when you get goats. We raise goats for milk and meat. Skinning is the easiest part of the process. We raise turkeys as well. We are having family and friends out on Saturday for our annual turkey culling. Starting with breakfast and then processing 3 turkeys and 2 rosters. Two of the turkeys are for our Thanksgiving dinner one will be fried and the other smoked. The third turkey the largest around 35 pounds will be roasted then canned and some of the meat freeze dried. All the leftover bones will be burned saved as bone meal for our gardens.
My friend you are absolutely right, which is why I am so thankful I got selected for this program. Sounds like you've got your turkey operation down to a tee! Whoa, 35 lbs of turkey meat! Nothing feels better than being able to use out of every part. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Turn the bones into stock! It is amazing when making soup
Now you added making bone meal to my list of skills to learn! I will be doing this
@susiea1419 yes I boil the bones for hours then we burn the bones for bone meal.
Congrats on getting your hunting license! My husband just took his first buck of the year, and the biggest one yet! We got almost 80 pounds of meat, and this is just the beginning of the season! We have a real deer problem, too, so our limit is currently 6, requiring 3 bucks and 3 does per season. The kicker is, he can go to his buddy's house in the next county, and bag 6 more! You're going to LOVE venison, and wonder how you'd gone so long without it. Yay! In no time, each deer you take will be FREE. Way better than the poison they try to sell us at the grocery stores. 🙂
I love the relationship you have with your dad. It brought tear to my eyes. That is the same relationship that I had with my dad. ❤
🤣 These are some of the tricks that I used to trick my littles into eating cauliflower, radishes, and liver (chop it, soak it in milk, drain it, and slip it into spicy chili 5 minutes before serving - nobody ever noticed). When they got older my kids were devastated to learn that their favorite minestrone is just Italian bean-and-cabbage soup, that 'giblets' are chicken guts, and that the green bits in the Mac 'n Cheese were chopped scallion greens. They went right on eating them, though!
Great recipe ideas and I have compression socks. I’ll find them and hope they work. My feet and ankles are screaming already
I love your enthusiasm for everything you tackle!! when shtf you will be well equipped!! Dont ever apologize for learning skills!! You are rocking them all!
Haha, this is exactly what my dad says! I truly cannot convey how empowering it feels to learn these skills, and to know that even someone like me (without land or livestock) can still work towards increasing self-sufficiency. Little by little, anyone can make strides over time. I pray that you and yours have a blessed Thanksgiving!
I am all over that compression socks tip!! I got some "recovery" sandals (it's like a anti fatigue mat with a strap, they are heavenly) and now need to add those socks! The ONE thing I'll add: if you are already a little taller than average like me, adding a thick sole can make counter tops too low for neck comfort when chopping and stirring large quantities, so working from a thick cutting board (or anything that raises your counter surface by several inches) will help with that back of the neck and shoulder pain.
Also, that carrot sweet potato combo makes all the sense in the world to me! I have made brandy butter carrots that were so sticky and sweet, why not combine that with the silkiness of sweet potato??
Hey 👋🏾 Christine! Ooh, girl this is such a good tip-but wait, did you say recovery sandals? I want to look into that. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl Yes! I have Oofos and my Mr has Hoka Ones (he is WFH and stands most of the day and they have been amazing for him)! And a blessed Thanksgiving to you and your lovely family!
Love hunting. Some of my best sleep has been while hunting. Warm stand, no noises, absolutely still. Of course I might miss a deer or two but I get mine. I would suggest if you are planning on processing your own to start looking for the stuff now. You really don’t want a cheap meat grinder and I find the kitchen aid attachment cannot handle the quantity of meat.
I just found you a couple days ago. Really enjoy your recipes and demeanor!
Here's a tip not everyone knows. Grab sweet potatoes on sale. Bake them, let cool then freeze. We freeze on the tray so they don't stick together. Once frozen put servings in freezer bags. When ever you want a sweet potato just microwave for a minute or two and it's like fresh baked. It holds it's texture unlike regular potatoes that get mealy. I throw one in my lunch box so it thaws and is quicker to heat at lunch and it keeps my lunch cool.
Can we just talk about your amazing coffee/tea mugs?
Can we also talk about your garlic? How do you get it all perfectly minced up like that (because I'm pretty sure you didn't buy it pre-minced lol)
I've never thought about compression socks for long kitchen days, but I absolutely swear by them for long-haul airplane flights.
"Outdoor World" YES!!!! I think it was just called "Bass Pro Shop" where I lived, but oh my do I love that kind of store. Knives, flashlights, hiking boots, I'm all about that stuff. The mall just isn't my scene at all.
I wish you the best of luck on your first deer hunt coming up in a few weeks :D
When you said "Babe, take me to Outdoor world." that had me cackling. I love it!
You share some great tips. I really like the idea of putting smaller portions in muffin size tins.
I was just thinking that I need to get better at fishing and being able to clean and cook them for my family.
Oh my goodness..you make me laugh! I love your enthusiasm too. It is so infectious. You go, Cassandra. I can't wait until you get your first deer.
My 11 yo grandson bagged a large doe that is processed and in my freezer and my husband got an 8 point buck on Monday. Tomorrow we will process that for the freezer. Lots of venison to eat this winter and to also share some with family. Good luck with your hunting course.
Congratulations on becoming a hunter! You are an inspiration with everything that you’re doing 😊 looking forward to hearing about your upcoming hunt in December! I have been canning for 35 years and I’m learning so much from you on how to use up, repurpose and not waste food. Blessings!
Cassaund, you never cease to amaze me! You just ooze inspiration! I am so blessed to have found your channel. AND, you're right in my backyard. I live in Maryland, so no excuses for me.
Thank you for your genuine content❤
Hey lady 👋🏾! You’re in MD too? Yes, you can totally start learning homestead skills and build with what you have! I truly think it’s the best way to avoid the overwhelm, expense and time commitment that “getting everything at once” would entail. You’ve got this, girl!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl thank you! Yes! I am in Harford County.
I actually have been meaning yo thank you for mentioning BOW in a previous video. I looked them up immediately and was able to get into a range day workshop they were doing. It's not a super active chapter but they do promote other events that fit the philosophy and I'll be attending one of those December 2. It also led me to exploring my state's Fish and Wildlife website (our version of DNR) and seeing all the hunting and fishing education offered there and the fella and I attended a fishing class over the summer. I'm hoping to get into hinting within the next year or so and will definitely be checking out the mentor program!
You go girl!! I leave certain things to the men but more power to you. I love my off-grid life but still in development stages and learning all I can as I go. Thank you for a other great video!!
Cassandra i just love your content❤ Your energy and positivity levels are at and all time high!! If i lived near you...a friendship with you would be amazing. 🎉❤Keep me wanting to learn more.
Hello friend! Aww, this is so sweet of you to share and I’m certain if we were closer we’d be in the others kitchen all the time. Girl, I just saw a video of your living room and it’s a vibe! So gorgeous!!! You are talented and I love your style!!! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Thanks for the compliment...I love cooking and decorating. My channel is new but I love your channel. I want to attend HOA next year... The Most High willing.
Wegmans in Maryland has been selling frozen turkeys for $0.29/lb this last week
I live in northern MI, our opening day was Wednesday. We are a prime hunting area but surprisingly there are less hunters than previous years. We have 40 wooded acres and don't eat deer meat but we do put salt licks, sugar beets, and all the fallen apples and pears from our trees in the middle of our property to keep the deer away from hunters on the state land around us.
It’s raining in my neck of the woods. I’ve passed the time by binge watching your videos. Thank you for energetic solid tips. Sharing your ideas has given me a solid confidence boost and I thank you!
It is so exciting that you have taken up hunting. My husband and sons are big hunters and I go along as a mentor (for the quality time and snacks 😊). Making memories, it's so special. I just started pressure canning deer meat this year. It is super easy and so tasty. We do process our meat at home from start to finish. We have quite the assembly line. I just like being able to control what's in my meat and how it's handled.
So excited to see what all you do with your first harvest! Happy and safe hunting! 😊
I love the interaction between you and your Dad it’s so adorable 🥰
Just wanted to congratulate you on expanding your farm, friends are always with you, in heart, as well as spirit.
Ok. Comments, I gotz me a plenty. First of all, I love your relationship with your parents but especially your Dad. I was a Daddy's girl so I completely connect with the joy you exhibit when you call him with an update. Secondly, I was ON THE FLOOR when he called you Calamity Jane. 😂😂😂 Thirdly, stop on by with that shotgun and get these squirrel out my garden! They dropping peanuts and walnuts in all of my pots. And finally, thank you for the December shopping list. You are so amazing! Love your TH-cam channel. GOD Bless.
Hahah! 😜 Thabk you for this comment! Yes, I’m close with both my parents but totally a daddy’s girl and in the days since me that phone call, the name “Calamity Jane” has stuck! And, I hear you on the garden squirrels! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl You too Beautiful.
I am still saving up for the 2 green stalks I want, and I just love love love love love your personality and advice and recipes and You Make Me smile. Thank you so much!!!
They are having their Black Friday sale now. Check it out
Congratulations!
This is very motivating! My husband and I are searching for a Safeway to get out and learn to hunt deer and wild boars here in Florida! we have a lot of family that fishes but none that hunt-I had no idea less than 4% of Americans hunted, I would’ve thought that number was far closer to 20%!
We’re very excited with every step we moved towards and more traditional homestead lifestyle - all while spreading the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ 🙏🏻
God bless you and your family and all your homesteading adventures! You’re amazing!
I love the camera angle you use when preparing food!!
You are the most energetic , enthusiastic and determined young women! I am so proud of the time and effort you’re putting in now so that when the day comes, and it will, you’ll be ready! Great video, I’m looking forward to hearing how your first hunt goes 😊🍁🧡 Happy Thanksgiving!
Just a heads up foodlion in virgina has turkeys for 39 cents a pound right now. I've already bought 2 lol. Will be canning the whole bird soon!
Wait, what? Already? Oh this EXCELLENT! At those prices you've got to stock up now (as you've already done). What a blessing!
Great video. And I love how tickled you are about learning new things. Happy hunting 😁
Hi friend! I truly am! I had almost given up hope that I would hear from the program so you can imagine my surprise when I learned I DID get into a program. Plus, meeting all of the other mentees and veteran hunters was great. I met a great group of folks and it was so nice to hear how other folks came to their hunting journey. Have a blessed Thanksgiving, friend!
Cassandra you are my "Shero" you showing all of us that we can and will. If you ever need help with a tractor give call I'll be more than happy to help.🥰
Although I know where my meat comes from, I'm not okay with ME killing it myself. I so appreciate you sharing your meat growing and harvesting journey. While I've always respected the farmer, because you are breaking down your process you are showing a completely different perspective. Thank you so much for that!
Hi Kathy! I appreciate this more than you know. We’re working towards getting to where you are, but u til then, I’m leveraging what I can do with what I’ve got and the appreciation I have for the food on my plate and the skills it takes to get it there has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve learned. Take good care, friend!
And to think all I do with left over turkey is flour it and fry it! Your turkey pie looked delicious!!! Your amazing.
That demo on how to make boullion from the pan drippings is brilliant! I had to give up using boullion cubes awhile ago because the MSG triggers my husband’s migraines, and I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a substitute with my dehydrator, but haven’t found a recipe I’ve been satisfied with yet. I’m guessing that technique would probably work with a beef roast, too? And congrats on getting into the program! That is not what I expected when I read your video description, but it sounds like an exciting opportunity!
Hi Becky! Yes, the bouillon trick works with any of your pan dripping. Fingers crossed that one day I’llnhsve that update to share 😉
Becoming an outdoor woman is an awesome program.
All I can say is you bring a smile to my face. Keep up the good work!!!
I love your videos! Thank you very much for sharing. You make me feel like like I have dropped in for coffee and girl time. You are the best.
I'm so glad you feel this way and that's exactly as it should be! I pray that you and yours have a blessed Thanksgiving!
You are SO right about having your own cranberry sauce! We did our own for years, and then last year we tried making your Cranberry Steak Jam (I labeled it as Cranberry Chutney so there wouldn't be arguments about what we use it on - my Hubs can be VERY literal) and we have never looked back! We had it on baked pork chops, over baked brie, with cream cheese as an app or mixed into it as a bagel spread, and of course on the table with the turkey. SO good!! Thank you for sharing it!
It’s great that you’re expanding your horizons & I’m glad to follow along! 🤗
The turkey and blue cheese dish looks incredible! My daughter loves blue cheese so we are definitely trying that! And I just signed up for your newsletter for future recipes! ❤❤❤
That's so cool that these programs exist in Maryland! I'm in Maryland (Baltimore County), my husband hunts at Patuxent Wildlife Refuge. If you get a deer and choose to take it somewhere for processing, I recommend Hitchcock Taxidermy (if you are anywhere near Laurel/Servern). They are great, we get ground meat, hot italian sausage, pastrami, hotdogs, summer sausage, roasts, it's great!
I cannot find the actual words to tell you how overjoyed I am for you and your journey!!!!
I appreciate this so much!!! Truly! Thank you!!!
I have been long awaiting this video .
Thank you for your hard work ! And wonderful help ! ❤
Hello friend! I'm trying to back to my weekly posting schedule :). My pantry chat videos are fun to film. I pray that you and yours have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Love your channel! I made the sausage pancake muffins and the grandbabies loved them! I’m definitely trying the turkey pie after Thanksgiving. You come up with fantastic recipes. I appreciate you. -Natalie
Hi Natalie! I’m so glad the muffins worked out for you😉 Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
I really love your creativity! Keep it up my friend! Success is what happens after you have survived all of your disappointments! Never give up, great things take care! It deserves all success around and I'm here for you!
I am overcome with the encouraging words you have shared, my sweet, sweet friend! Amen to it all. I'm going to keep taking small steps over time. You have made my evening! Blessings to you and yours and a Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Compression socks and house shoes absolute game changer I have to use this thank you.❤❤
Honey, your whole body will thank you! If I'm going to be in the kitchen longer than 15 minutes, I switch to my socks and shoes which I keep in the hallway closet!
Cassandra, you are such an inspiration! My goodness it seems there’s nothing you can’t do! ❤
Haha, Hi Lori! Over time I've gained confidence, and truly, these past few years have really proved that small steps over time add up. I'm beyond appreciative for the folks that have shown up in my life to help me along this journey. Crystal, from the Farmer's Market, the DNR Hunting program, a connection I made at the conference last month, and my dad's constant stories about the homestead his grandparents had. Little by little, I'm getting there. I pray that you and yours have a blessed Thanksgiving!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl may you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving also!
So excited for your 🦌 hunt! I also love the muffin meal idea, so easy to deal with from freezing, thawing, and eating! So glad I found my farm 👧
Im a school administrator too in London, UK! ❤

Wanted to let you know that I was going to buy the silicone bags but right now budget was not allowing it. I love perusing the thrift stores and just happen to dig through a bin and what did I find but a bag of silicone bags for $10.00. There were 9 bags of assorted sixes and shapes. I just about passed out. I took a picture and tried to send through your blog contact site but it would not let me. I washed and started using the bags right away. Have to make a 150 mile trip and will be gone for 3 days. Plan on making some of your recipes in my new bags and taking along. No need for restaurants. I say again this 75 year old lady loves your channel and is always leading friends and family to your channel. By the way..we live in Alaska and get a moose and process every year. Venison is a favorite of ours and you will love it.
I also buy turkeys after the holidays when their so cheap and also can them. This year we are using up the two turkeys my husband raised, named “Thanksgiving” and “Christmas”. Since it’s only hubby & myself, these two birds lasted awhile in our freezer. Now the raising or buying of turkeys are needed for restocking.
🧡 You and your dad's relationship is awesome. Tfs!
Way to go girl! As someone else who has been skill gathering herself, I'm impressed. Hunting is one that's not on my radar.
I just bought my Greenstalk vertical planter and used your code. I'm so excited. I can't wait for spring to start my plants!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
You sold me with the fall flavored Lasagna going to make this today for my work week ❤
I live on a farm and we have a year round hunting permit. Congratulations on getting in your program! Once you get ready, try finding a local farm that has this permit. I wish I liked venison. I do like rabbit. We raise a lot of our own meat, I still raise pigs, beef, used to raise French chocolate turkeys, meat birds and egg layers. I’ve done lots of home butchering with my husband and kids, especially of birds, but as a widow, I’m raising pigs and beef only. I dislike dispatching animals but I do fine with the rest.
Hi congrats on your hunting license. I love your videos and recipes. You are so brave and a very joyful happy person. I always get a good laugh when I watch your videos. I have learned a lot about canning, watching you. Thank you for educating us and bringing us real life. contents.
I'm so proud of you! Going after what you love to do...so many more new adventures await you!
Love your autopsy skills lol. Didn't expect it, you surprised me and certainly impressed. Your so sweet, stay strong, live your best life. I get geeked at hunting season whoot whoot
That's wonderful that you're learning how to hunt as a woman! I just got my hunting license and got a crossbow. I wish we had a program like that in NY! Good luck on shooting your first deer!!! Wish me luck as well :)
So excited for you on your hunting adventure! We rely on hunting to cut our grocery bill WAY down!
I enjoy your videos all the time. This just made lunch prepping easier. I will start storing meals in portion sizes. Yeahhhhh life made easy.
The recipes sound great! You go girl - hunting. I have a few female friends that are hunters. My cousin used to hunt all the time til lymes disease hit him. He leased property in Maryland to hunt. He also hunted here in PA. His last one was 2 years ago. We canned some and it was good eating.
