Food always looks delicious. 😋 Wish I could eat more variety. I'm on a low glycemic organic fruits and vegetables, no dairy, very low carb, no sugar, no nuts, seeds, etc. protocol along with clean meats because I treated my breast cancer holistically. I'm in year five cancer free (praise the Lord) and want to stay that way. However, I'll continue to watch and decided to start my own garden this spring. I figured I could grow some of what I can eat.
Organic, 100% grass fed, pasture raised, no nitrates, etc. Free of chemicals.... Knowing where the meats I eat come from and how they are raised. This is the beauty of local farms.
Yep, there's always room for better! Cancer loves sugar and high insulin; so you are doing the wise thing! I am growing an onion patch for next year... with some greens thrown in. I hope to build on that and eat cleaner, too!
HALLELUJAH AND PRAISE GOD 💃🏾💃🏾, I'm on that same protocol, however I'm believing GOD to heal my under active Thyroid. Congratulations on your 5 year ACHIEVEMENT 💪🏾✊🏾💪🏾✊🏾
Cassandra, you are the woman across the room for me! I am so impressed with the content you crank out! And you work full-time and manage your homestead! Girl, I wanna be you when I grow up❤❤❤
I bought the .69 lb turkey at Aldi!😃 I roasted it and then made stock with the carcass. I remembered that I had frozen an earlier carcass and broth so I dug that out and added that to my pot. So now I have 7qts of meat and broth & 5 qts of plain broth canned on my shelf! So satisfying!
I love your pantry chats! And yes, it’s SO important to preserve the memories and tips from your Nana and others. They had wisdom that this generation needs. I’m thankful for you and your channel. It has helped me SO much in reviving some of the practices of my grandmother and Mama. God bless you in all you do❤️
My eldest daughter said something the other day in one of our chats with a friend that stuck with me...who is on the other side of 50...she said " its like saving for your future self" that's what you teach and share on your channel...and we all can do that no matter how seasoned we are❤
Ms. Cassandra (we are probably the same age but I’m born and raised in the south and my granny wouldn’t just want me calling you your first name 😊), thank you for your videos. Truly. As a single mom of two, it feels so nice to see someone who looks like me teaching me how to live in abundance by being wise and not worrying about the world. I’m a way, your videos really minister to me. I’m so excited to learn more about canning, meal prep, freezing meals, cooking and preserving in season, and it’s all because of your videos. While I don’t have dreams of a homestead, I do have dreams of growing food for myself and to share in the community. And who knows, I may get a cow or something one day. Lol! The beauty is that because of your videos, I can actually see something for myself I never thought possible. So thank you for always showing up here. I know there may come a day when that may stop, and that’s just life. But as for now, if you needed more encouragement, I hope my message has done that for you and that you keep giving us this wisdom. Also, I’m really looking forward to doing your breakfast prep video one day. My kids love pancake on a stick, and your video made me feel like I could really get in the kitchen and make something for my kids they will love. So thank you. Truly. I really enjoy seeing you here!
So I tell Steve, the roommate, who is in a time crunch - put a squash in the oven, just cut it open and stick it in the oven, you don't have to take out the seeds, Farm Girl says so. Youre not Cassie fyi. Not yet anyway. Lol
One of the things I love most about your content is all the ways to use every piece of edible/non edible food in your possession. I am learning such simple things that I never thought of doing. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Cassandra, for all you do in your content! You have truly inspired me to start shopping seasonally, planning ahead, and make that price journal. I can see that you really know your stuff and I appreciate that you want to share it with all of us. I'm so excited to see your hunting and quailing journey this year! I hope that by applying some of the shopping and planning methods you use will help me to organize my responsibilities at home. Being a stay home mom, time and money are precious resources and I want to ensure I am not wasting either by being "lazy", for lack of a better word. I hope to teach my daughter these things as she gets older to make her life much easier and to live more frugally. Looking forward to 2024 being a wiser and smoother year for me and my family.
I track everything I purchase .... .it's easy ...just say receipt please! Then weekly or monthly or whatever I total. I watch prices for staples and over time I have a price book in my memory but I also when I have time. Make my grocery list with price previously paid next to it. Look for that price or better.
I have been watching these pantry chats for not quite a year yet, but I am looking forward to the one year mark where you cover months I have already spent with your channel. I want to hear that information again to confirm that I am learning and growing since I last heard it :)
I’m very happy to see a new pantry chat. Keep them coming. I’ll be canning the chicken and turkey pieces I put in the freezer from the birds I got on sale and butchered probably tomorrow. I processed that turkey in a little less than an hour. My sister said, I must have been a butcher in a former life. I had to laugh.🤣 Thanks for all the tips and the stories. They are appreciated.😊🫶🏽
I am so glad you are keeping doing the pantry chats you have been very encouraging and have kept me hoping and praying fir ny own place and that dream started in Sept. I finally have my own place. I am 60 but God is good for all our days.
Ok. Im going to make a bunch of freezer ready made food from your channel. GF, think about putting out a cookbook with your freezer meals in it please. There are kots more summer days than winter that we're too pooped to cook. You are the QUEEN of freezer meals.
I scoop out my squash seeds, before roasting, rinse them, dry them and package them for growing season. Then I don’t have to buy them at all. I just grow them myself and share some of the seed packets with family and friends. BTW, growing season for me is all year round. I live in the Caribbean.
You have some wonderful ideas. I'm 73 years old and I wish i'd have known about you 25 or 30 years ago which would help me out greatly. But I'm goingredients to start a price book even at my age. Thank you for your inspiration.
Dear Cassandra- our backgrounds and interests are so similar and the excitement u share when u get a deal- I feel like ur my bestie across the country! I like to say I was stealing with no one having to call SECURITY! LOLOL I need to get better at pressure canning meals. I have the meat down pat, need expansion. Praying the Lord will continue to bless you. Love love love ur channel.
Girl ❤ love you and this channel ❤ Can you please do a favorite soup video and how to preserve them if we (me) don't know how to can ❤ thank you in advance if you see and read my comment ❤😊
I just have to say your content makes me so happy. I love that while you’re focused on healthy foods, you aren’t extreme in your rigidity for organic or “perfect” options when not everyone can realistically afford that kind of eating plan. We have 7 kids so it’s definitely not within our budget to afford all organic, but I do what I can to bake and cook from scratch, and still learning more tricks to grow in skills. Thank you for being down to earth and balanced in your focus ❤️
I just found your channel the last month I have only canned my peaches off my trees and look forward to getting my pantry well stocked with your help! My husband and I went out and got a Perfection Heater for our house I love it! I am from California and we have 5 acres we moved here 3 yrs ago and now I have a burner under my butt to get things going around here. Thank you for your lovely chats Jen
The little ac thing is an evaporative cooler. They are fantastic out west where conditions are very dry. Not so much in places that have heat & humidity.
It's great to see others cooking from scratch saves money tastes so much better than store bought and healthier seen the pumpkin lasagna video so good to see your not using packaged sauces nothing better than home made new favourite cooking channel
99 cent/lb hams are a great find. I bought 4 more today, now in my freezer. Those bean/ham patties look yummy! Scored snapware/glass storage containers today for $8.49 for a set of 4. Score! And boxes of freezer Ziplock bags with Christmas prints for cheap 🙂 Make sure your wax melts don't melt in the heat of your attic over the summer. Congrats on the sink find.
I live in Florida and bought that Artic Air fan. Here's MY hack to make it blow cool air for8-10 hours. Freeze water in mini silicone tart pan. That ice puck fits perfectly in the water holding tray. Then fill up with water, turn on and enjoy cooler air.
I took the meat from last Spring’s ham cubed it up and froze it. During the summer, I removed the chunks from the freezer and put into my freeze dryer. Yep. Freeze dried instead of canning. I added a couple of cups to my pot of white Great Northern Beans a couple of weeks ago. Oh man! That ham became as tender as the day I cooked it, the beans soaked up the flavor and it was delicious! And I love looking at that half gallon jar of freeze dried ham in my pantry, I keep it vacuum sealed for freshness. You’ve got to try it.
I live in the Caribbean and our groceries don’t have coupons or mark down prices on anything, but I love your recipes and your approach to saving money. You are an inspiration! Keep up with what you are doing 😊😊
We love butternut squash here and our favorite way is to cook it with wild rice and cranberries. Currently working on a video with that recipe that I'm planning on posting within a week but these are amazing tips. I'm planning on making freezer meals a big part of my life this year while documenting it along the way. There's so much to do and so little time; planning ahead helps A TON! You make it look easy and fun.
I came back to say, that Price Book you showed us to make? Well I made one for my seed inventory because I have a terrible habit of buying more seeds than I need or I get excited when I see a new variety! I set it up with plant families for the tabs with some pages in between with headings date for the year they were bought, where I got them, how much they were, variety, and notes for things like germination rate. All this so I can decide which seeds I should get where and how fast I go through certain seeds so I know I should buy in bulk or start seed saving, and save me from buying duplicates. Thanks so much for your inspiration!
Love love love your pantry chats!!! Your tips and tricks have been very helpful to this young wife! Meeting you through your lecture at HOA '23 was very informative and I'm glad I picked yours to sit in on and get to learn from you and now continue to through TH-cam. **love your Raw Milk t-shirt, we twinning! 🎉
Oh yes, that ham is tucked away in the freezer! Spiral slices make amazing sandwiches, and on an English muffin with an egg & onion jam 😋 Amazing! Got avocados for .50 last week! 20 in the freezer, three ways. Best price in two years!
You can freeze avocados? Do you just throw them in there? I got a real deal, but couldn't eat them all fast enough (used them on my toast). How aere they when you thaw them?
@carolsedgwick5749 yep! Some sliced, some diced, a few halves. I flash froze on parchment for about an hour, then bagged. They recommend vacuum sealed, I went zip lock, I doubt they'll last long! They're great, thaw fast, still creamy, flavor was still good. They haven't been in there long, so I can't speak to longevity. For that price, it was worth a try!
Got Ham for $0.49 a pound. I bought a few to freeze and can in recipes. I also found a great deal on cranberries and made juice, cranberry mustard and froze some. I love prepping and using my pantry. Thank you for inspiring everyone. I appreciate you! ❤💐
I'm so glad to hear you're staying with pantry chat!!! Sending hugs!! As a child who grew up without a family, I can definitely say any memory of such a loving family is worth spreading and remembering!!!
I was moaning about not having any food in the house (meaning the fresh stuff was gone cuz I didn't get to grocery shop this week) and I hate coming from my pantry. So I said I'll see what Cassandra has cooking in her pantry chat and wouldn't you know it, within the first two minutes I was up and making your stuffed butternut squash! ❤ so happy to hear you'll be continuing the pantry chats!
I’m so glad you’ll be keeping up the pantry chats! I love em. I will do my homework and start my price guide journal, but in a Happy Planner ;) I love any excuse to recycle one I have.
I bought 2 bone in hams at my local Price Rite, a division of Shop Rite. I'm glad you showed how to get the meat off it because I was at a loss as to how to get it off. Thanks Cassandra! I also bought the smallest turkey I could find at Aldi since I don't have a lot of freezer space. I might go back for a bigger one since bigger means more meat to can! I love Aldi and am lucky enough to have one within walking distance.
You motivated me to get more serious about my grocery budget shopping, and I dehydrated a couple pounds of mushrooms and canned 5 jars of oranges. Baby steps 😊
Oh Cassandra you are the best. Antler ornaments. I love them and your beautiful sweater. Winter squash dish looks yummy well everything looks yummy. Baby quail were so cute. Your area has FBMP bargains galore. So lucky to find those cages. Have a wonderful weekend.
Hey Cassandra! Just got the new issue of Green Stalk magazine, and there you are - again! Always enjoy reading about your gardening successes, regardless of source. In fact, you are the reason I bought my first Green Stalk last year and currently try to figure how to add another planter to my tiny balcony. Thanks so much, and keep on posting!
I love your pantry chats! I always glean so much info and so many ideas from you. And you are right about learning and honing skills where we are now…my husband and I just signed up for a beekeeping course next month and are also wanting to learn to keep quail or chickens until we can make it onto some land. We are learning what we want to know where we currently are. ❤
You have such a great channel. You pointed a tip that I didn’t think about which is you can break down those hams before making them. I usually portion after cooked but your tip will make use of the ham become easier.
Thank you for sharing soooo much good information. Something I always do that I noticed you don't is when you cut the plastic bag off a ham do it in a way that allows you to catch and save the juice in the bag. It is only about a quarter cup but so full of flavor. I then freeze it and then later add it back into a soup.
Loving the new chat :) just so you know the arctic chiller is awesome use it in my garage/office which has no air in NC. Would suggest instead of ice in the little pocket put use 2 of the freezer wraps that you use for sprains toss into the lunch box and rotate them works like a charm for an 8 hr day.
I just want you to know that I always feel like I am hearing from one of my besties when I watch your videos. I found you about May 2023 and it has changed my life. I never thought much about canning or preserving, but it is all I think about now. I'm 63, divorced, no kids living in Fairbanks AK and I am actually excited about all that I am doing and experiencing for the first time. Thanks for your excitement about learning and becoming a better steward of what God has provided. I can't wait to see what you think of next. ☻️🤩
I do love your pantry chats! And as someone who only found your channel a few months ago, all this information is new to me. Now, after watching this I want to go buy a ham... 😂
I just love your enthusiasm! And you’re sharp as a knife and such a hard worker. You must spend a lot of your time just in planning your videos, much less the recoding. Thank you for all you do for us!
We tried the mesh door things and they weren't successful, hopefully you will have better luck. BUT, that arctic air was a find! We got one for our camper but 2 yrs ago on July 4th (it was HOT as blazes), we lost power overnight and used that by our bed and it worked fabulously! Thanks for all your knowledge and energy!
Wow, you are a wiz with those notebooks! I've been tracking every single grocery item I've bot since 2020 on Excel. It's so telling. I came on to see your squash recipes. I have a bunch in the freezer.
I love watching you put meals together that you canned. I am working on building up my family food storage with homemade. I also love how you use only cast iron as i do too. Seems not many do. I'm going to make your bean cakes next week. I love to meal prep!
What a great tip with the apple cider vinegar! I've never heard that, but makes total sense now I have, kinda a moment of why didn't I think of that 😆 You are really amazing teacher. I appreciate the do it yourself info here ss i do not have a printer for your lists etc.
Oh my ! Thank you for letting us experience sweet baby quail hatching!!! Loved it! I so enjoy these chats and never miss them! I keep telling myself to have pen and paper to write down all those things that I want to remember from them but get so caught up in them that I almost always forget to! Gotta try those bean patties- that is a totally new idea on me!! Woo Hoo on all your great finds , especially the cages and sink!
Thank you!!!! I know you’re looking for land but I e learned so much from watching you and trying in my little rental! We close soon on our little 1963 brick rambler in the burbs. 1/4 acre and I am so excited to apply more of my learning!
Omg! I have been doing the broth wrong all along! I have put the ACV in while it was hot! I will define change my ways. Thank you so much! You are such a great teacher!❤
One of my Christmas gifts was a Garden stalk planter. the large one like you have .. and guess..... what a magazine was included and there you were in the magazine on several pages I was so excited for you and myself because this was included with the planter .. Have ordered Heirloom seeds and cannot wait for the results, Thank You
Thank you for continuing the pantry chat! I look forward to it every month and you inspire me to grow and make more homemade food! I have two greenstalks and have learned so much from you ❤
Your Grocery Guide is already in your email if you've signed up. WANT JANUARY'S Guide? Click here: tinyurl.com/2cdstpfv
Is anyone else having problems with getting their email? I had to sign up again in December to get mine. The January one hasn't arrived yet. :(
I’m having trouble getting the January pdf to print. It says I need access? Dec & Nov work fine. Anyone else?
It would be good to call out pressure canning versus water bath canning for newbies, like me.
me too, it says i need to request access :(@@melodyh.781
@@melodyh.781 i had trouble printing too and had to ask for access.
What meats do you call CLEAN meats ? 🤔
Amazing,
Do you mind sharing what you did to cure your cancer.

So so loved this vlog, chat on honey; we're all with you. The more you chat the more inspired and educated we are. We love 😍you Cassandra❤

And some of us need to hear a thing more than once to remember it, so I do like the repeat, it's like I'm hearing it for the first time lol!
Listening and watching while canning applesauce…. Which is in season… 😂
Shopping around the crowds...and YES bargain hunting after Christmas...quintessential Cassandra...I have found my tribe - so love this.

I could not watch this fast enough, thank you so much for continuing the pantry chats! Much love from MN❤
Girl ❤ love you and this channel ❤ Can you please do a favorite soup video and how to preserve them if we (me) don't know how to can ❤ thank you in advance if you see and read my comment ❤😊
When you cook, you remind me of my sister. She is a naturally good cook. She can make anything out of nothing. I could watch you cook all day long.❤

Thank you for sharing the quail hatching out. So precious!
I was in the store this morning and picked up 3 discounted hams. I will be making a creamy ham and potato soup with some of it.
I was canning my first batch ever yesterday and was in the processing stage when my grocery guide came in. I literally squealed with delight.

I live in the Caribbean and our groceries don’t have coupons or mark down prices on anything, but I love your recipes and your approach to saving money. You are an inspiration! Keep up with what you are doing 😊😊
@Susie : some "sales" r fake. There was a Target vital vid with a
SALE signs same price as orignal orce hidden underneath 😂
But I discovered that if you shop where the restaurants shop and are willing to buy in bulk you can save up to 50% in the Caribbean
Yay! I really look forward to your videos and pantry chats! It’s like visiting with a friend!

I’m so excited that you kept the pantry chats. I always look forward to see what you created. Thank you for all you do ❤
Hey girl! I'm so happy you decided to keep doing the pantry chats!! I don't know what I'd do without you ❣️
You're my only friend some days❤🙏
Ooh for the ornament you could put the date you finish your program on one and the date you get your first deer on the other. 😊
You motivated me to get more serious about my grocery budget shopping, and I dehydrated a couple pounds of mushrooms and canned 5 jars of oranges. Baby steps 😊
I've been wanting to try and make bean burgers! So glad you showed this recipe. The quail are adorable.
Great delivery and information, no messing around!
I love your wisdom. Thank you so much for keeping up the pantry chats!
I am so glad to hear that the pantry chats will continue. You know I need to see or hear it at least 7 times before I know it 😊. Have a Blessed Week.
Love these chats….loved the antler ornaments…❤❤❤
Hey Cassandra! Just got the new issue of Green Stalk magazine, and there you are - again! Always enjoy reading about your gardening successes, regardless of source. In fact, you are the reason I bought my first Green Stalk last year and currently try to figure how to add another planter to my tiny balcony. Thanks so much, and keep on posting!
Your videos are so inspirational to eat healthy AND save money. Thank you for starting this channel!
Cassandra, I just adore you.
Thank you for being you ❤️❤️❤️ much love, from your Northwestern girlfriend🥰
Hey lady! I’m so glad you don’t mind my kind of crazy! I’m feeling the love and sending it right back! ❤️🥰❤️🥰
I like how you put out this seeking energy and it draws in what you need. Thanks for inspiring and cheering. Best wishes.
You are out here changing lives, kitchens, and wallets 😂 I so appreciate you, and I love every video that you make! Thanks for sharing 💜
YAAAAAAAAAAAHHH! She is keeping the chats! Happy happy Joy joy!
You are the best!!! Please consider posting more frequently! You are such a talent.
I loved everything. Thank you. The antler ornaments are adorable 🥰
Stocked up on ham 🙋♀️ Tehe the composition book hacks are a brilliant nod to your day job ❤
January and February is my favorite time of year day clearance season
Just wanted to say I was so excited when I saw your pantry chat come out again! Thank you!!
Aww! Baby quail! They’re so cute! Thank you for continuing the pantry chats and taking us along with you as you learn and do. 🙂
I love watching you put meals together that you canned. I am working on building up my family food storage with homemade. I also love how you use only cast iron as i do too. Seems not many do. I'm going to make your bean cakes next week. I love to meal prep!
"Canned soups will always be inferior to anything you can dump in a pot and make yourself." - YESSSSS
"Some women light candles to fragrance the house, but beef stew is an aroma I'll take wafting through the air any day." - Woman after my own heart!!
What a great tip with the apple cider vinegar! I've never heard that, but makes total sense now I have, kinda a moment of why didn't I think of that 😆
You are really amazing teacher. I appreciate the do it yourself info here ss i do not have a printer for your lists etc.
Yes true, I was going to write that I'm grateful for the tip. It makes sense to me & this is broth canning weather! 🧡
Me too! I never thought about letting it sit 🤯. Always great tips!
Awesomeness…yay!…Thanks Cassandra. I was VERY happy to see a January Pantry Chat…sigh…so happy right now.
Omg! I have been doing the broth wrong all along! I have put the ACV in while it was hot! I will define change my ways. Thank you so much! You are such a great teacher!❤
