I'm pretty sure you can just get a normal disc reader (such as built in a pc or laptop) and drop the audio file from the computers external storage to your daw
I had the same problem with the sample fading out towards the end. I found a different workaround though and just thought I'd share it with you so you can free up that control knob for something else. In the INST EDIT menu, change the Env Mode from "NO-SUS" to "SUSTAIN". After doing this, the sample will still fade at the end if you only hit the pad once but if you hold the pad down for the duration of the sample it will not decay at the end and will play at normal volume. Hope that helps! Thanks for making this video. I learned some new tips from you!

In somewhat way easier on the 707, you have a visual representation of the sample.. but I wouldn’t say that’s a huge advantage though, I’ve been spending more time with my Roland gear lately like the 404, 101 & MV.. Hello Boombap, would you advice this machine to play around with sampling guitarlicks and chords etc, to write or atleast figure out songs, without the hassle of a laptop and logic and an interface etc?
For structuring songs, play chords it’s a nice piece of machine. I haven’t messed around anything with my guitar yet. The sampling/editing is quite limited. The new sp404mkii can handle that much better, and what I’ve seen it has nice amps for guitar as well + it’s an interface. The sequencer might not be as intuitive as on the MV1, but you have the option to either sequence or record jams..
@@BoombapArt thanks for the reply, i also like the sounds in the mv, and drumkits. I won’t do much sample editing. Just record a lick an put it under a pad.
After you perform slice sample on the MV is possible to edit the slice start/end after u execute it? Or does it become a new sample after u execute slice?
It becomes a new sample once you execute, so you’re stuck with the slice and that start/end.. but you can still edit the S/E afterwards but not extend it.
@@BoombapArt I mean its not a dealbreaker for me. I mostly like the sample feature for getting sounds/audio in the MV to be sequenced. The start/end editing in your vid didn't look bad at all IMO and I really rarely ever auto chop samples.
I can't get the samples to stop trailing off, I put decay all the way up and the sample still gets lower at the end.... Do you have any suggestions for me my friend?
Question: how do you save a kit of samples you've put together? I'm looking through the manual but can't tell Also, can you merge vocal tracks to save space?
I think you can save it as a template, not sure if you can save like a preset.. I haven’t tried, and all my beats I’ve put together are just saved projects. I’m pretty sure you can’t merge tracks, unless you bounce it out and import it back in.
@@BoombapArt Thanks for the response! much appreciated Yeah I can't find anything on saving kits, which, if I bought the mv-1 would be the primary thing I'd wanna do with it

@@dhaniivan12kilian if you’re planning to stick with the NI eco system, the M32 works flawlessly..but if you thinking about grabbing other types of gear (standalone) and wanna hook it up via Midi I suggest going with Arturia... I mean the Keystep will work inside the Maschine software, and you might not need the transport controls on the keyboard if you have the MK3 close to you. In my opinion Arturia Keystep wins, the keybed feels a little bit better, more versatile.. but the M32 is really good.

@@BoombapArt I currently have the MV, MC101, tb-3, tb03, Korg ESX1 +2, korg EMX1, Arturia Keystep pro all connected to a Roland Mx1… I also have a Novation bass station, Roland jx305 and an Akai Force.
The list you shared, seems like you have everything you need 👌🏻.. my personal opinion is that I think everyone should have a 404 in their arsenal no matter how they’re planning on using it. Great for processing sounds, as a standalone unit itself, for fx and performances. If I had to choose between the MV and SP, I would go with the SP.. and I prefer the 101 over MV even though you can’t sample with the 101..
@@BoombapArt I agree.. now the new unit is out there are a lot of cheap units on eBay.
But.. Koala sampler on iOS is really good and if you add a midi controller to the mix you have total control.. idk.. I am going to keep an eye out for a SP and use what I have for now.
Going to work on using the MV for sampling just now and see how I get on.
Is chopping samples an easier workflow on 707 or mv1 cheers love the channel
In somewhat way easier on the 707, you have a visual representation of the sample.. but I wouldn’t say that’s a huge advantage though, I’ve been spending more time with my Roland gear lately like the 404, 101 & MV.. I don’t find it harder to use my ears instead of eyes to be honest.. but with a visual waveform it goes a bit faster when you know where the kicks/snares are etc.. but I do enjoy dialing in my ears instead of eyes. Much appreciated my friend! 🙏🏻
@@BoombapArt I picked that up that the 707 screen showed it on the larger screen. If it was your cash what would you recommend Mv or 707 ?
@@Darren950 The 707 is more complexed with the synth engine, a little more menu diving.. honestly, I would go with the MV! It’s also very convenient having Zenbeats to hook up your phone/tablet straight to the machine for mixing/arranging purposes. Also, Zenbeats keeps pushing out features.. they have a visual waveform for the “reverse” feature, I’m hoping for a trimming feature in the near future.
@@BoombapArt Thanks for taking the time to reply appreciated 👍
@@Darren950 My pleasure 👊🏻
@BoombapArt Yeah, I'm getting that error message every time I try to assign my recorded sample to a pad. But the sample ends up on the pad as I wanted but still with the error message. Very weird. Anyway, if you can shed anymore light on that bug I am all ears! Cheers my friend.
Good to hear that I’m not the only one getting that message.. but yeah, still annoying. I guess this bug will be fixed in the next update.
@@BoombapArt Hey man, just checking back in on the error discussed above. Are you still getting it today? Or have you figured out what is causing it? Thnx for any info. I have not seen anymore firmware updates yet.
I haven’t sampled with it in a while, last video I did I chopped everything on the computer. Do you still get the error message?
@@BoombapArt Oh ok, yes I still get the error. I watched Noisegates video called "Roland Verselab Tutorial: Sample Anything and Everything.." and it was not happening to him. So I thought I'd ask. I left a comment there too.
@@djantix1200 do you get the error every time? I got it a couple of times during my “sampling video”, but not all the time.. not sure what’s up with that 🤷🏼♂️ nothing happened besides the message, no corrupted audio or anything..
Great tutorial. I’m about getting decided between mv1 or mc101. I d like to sample live My guitar but it doesn’t look like it is possible with those two guys. Any advice ? Thanks.
Thank you. It’s possible to sample your guitar live into the MV-1, not the 101..btw, acoustic or electric?
Hey sorry man but one last question and I’m good! I tried doing the muted pad that ave Mcree showed ya. And it just doesn’t do it. Am I missing something? Once again thanks again
Have you set a pad and changed the level to 0 as well as that pad in the same mute group?
@@BoombapArt so should they all be in the same mute group? No I’m guna try now!
@@Ubermensch16 Yes in the same mute group
@@BoombapArt hey really appreciate your help. Just so eager to learn the damn thing. Thanks to you I think I’m covered now
@@Ubermensch16 No problem my friend! 👊🏻☕️
@@BoombapArt Damn...lol...ok, i understand. Thanks.
And trust me.. it’s not meant for melodic samples.. I’ve tried a drum loop and that’s not a problem 👌🏻
I'm looking through the manual but can't tell
Also, can you merge vocal tracks to save space?
I think you can save it as a template, not sure if you can save like a preset.. I haven’t tried, and all my beats I’ve put together are just saved projects. I’m pretty sure you can’t merge tracks, unless you bounce it out and import it back in.
@@BoombapArt Thanks for the response! much appreciated
Yeah I can't find anything on saving kits, which, if I bought the mv-1 would be the primary thing I'd wanna do with it
Hey sorry I just got the mv1 still can’t figure out how to get the pads to stop playing after I let go of them. Any help? Thanks
I’m not sure if there’s a proper solution.. I think I tried something with the 101 while back but it didn’t work as I wanted it.. I haven’t tried it myself yet, but if you try to set the pad to “SUSTAIN” and set a negative decay value.. I’m not sure it works tho.. if you figure something out please let me know! 👊🏻
@@BoombapArt i came here looking for this discussion. a proper gate mode would be fantastic. really hope roland doesn't let this one go.. its got so much potential, there are just some things that could use some work. undo, gate, fix that sample error thing we all get, and id like to be able to change between workflow modes without it retriggering. really fucks up the groove.
Do you still have an MV1?
I do
@@BoombapArt do you use it much?
Nah, it’s not really my favorite gear. I use Maschine Plus and SP404 MK2 most of the time.
@@BoombapArt nice choices 👍
After seeing just a few of your videos i feel like buying this Maschine eventough I have no experience at all in this..but I have faith i will learn fast, one question for you my friend,, do you recommend me to buy the arturia midi or akai? I already order the same scratch record player like yours 👌🙂 Hola from Madison Wisconsin
Hi D! I’ve spent countless hours with the Maschine and it’s a really nice piece of equipment, no question about it! I would definitely go with Arturia Keystep! Ah sweet, the PT01 is really nice to have and also it’s portable 👌🏻
@@BoombapArt whats the difference between the komplete kontrol M32 and the arturia? If they are the same but different brand which one you recommend to buy?
@@dhaniivan12kilian if you’re planning to stick with the NI eco system, the M32 works flawlessly..but if you thinking about grabbing other types of gear (standalone) and wanna hook it up via Midi I suggest going with Arturia... I mean the Keystep will work inside the Maschine software, and you might not need the transport controls on the keyboard if you have the MK3 close to you. In my opinion Arturia Keystep wins, the keybed feels a little bit better, more versatile.. but the M32 is really good.
Hey! How to sample to the 101 and are you happier with the Verselab now after a while or which one is your favourite box to work with at the moment? 😊😃✨🎶🎶🎶
To be honest, both are great.. of course it’s convenient to sample straight into the Verselab, but it goes faster to have chops ready from the computer. The Verselab has a faster workflow overall, easier to arrange.. so my vote goes to MV1 at the moment 😁
@@BoombapArt Great, I want to do Voclals too so it feels like that one is for me, bu I need to learn how to use the 101 better before I buy anything else 😊
Hi how do you delete a sample can't figure it out
Thank you
Oh, been a while since I made something with the MV.. I think you hold down or press clear and the pad you want to delete
Neat
Yeah 😊
What 's the name of the sample?
I don’t know to be honest.. I had this bunch of 45s my stepdad gave me for my birthday recently and I just went through the pile really quick for this tutorial 😬☕️.. but I can probably look that up when I’m in the studio next time 👊🏻

MPC is King....
… after Maschine 😉
This instructional video is gold! Thank you for making everything so clear and accessible, the cords connections info alone just saved me several hours of moving back and forth between manual, terrible TH-cam instructionals and my verse lab. Stoked to sample. Love your beats!

Sample remembers me at this german rapper samy deluxe, a track from demotape, 1997: th-cam.com/video/qGeF3sELfQE/w-d-xo.html
I think that’s the same sample, a really dope one! As I mentioned earlier in a comment, luckily I have a stepdad with great music taste who bought me the records 😊
