As someone with an extensive collection of physical media, I have decided to look into this, partially for science but mostly for archival purposes. You never know when a scratched disc or a dead flash memory chip is going to ruin your day. This thing is about as shady as an eclipse on the dark side of the moon, but there's something to be said about the bandwidth of a truck going 75 MPH on the interstate.
A lotta this stuff you can dump yourself. Softmod a Wii, get an optical drive, etc.

Suppose customising the hd by deleting Playnight (not needed since already on steam) to make space, and adding missing Roms to Retrobat Emulators, do you need to edit ini files and add custom boxarts and game videos? 😮

What would you do if Drive G is taken ? Keep switching drive letters between the game drive and your internal drive ? I also think the pc collection and too recent emulators are too much. They are well presented and available. The retro gaming, the good oldies, I think they did do a good job. Looks nice too. Overall great drive review. Thanks.
$130 and my old Dell i5 with big LCD , arcade fightstick/joypad using raspberry pi pico and cut out a wooden cabinet. Perfect project and prob come out looking like it's worth way more...

Sorry to be a pain, but any tips on how to get this running? Startup screen is the furthest I have got through the TV, when plugged into my HDMI port on my laptop absolutely nothing is being recognised. It’s like the port doesn’t even exist. I bought the second link in the info box under the video

Having Switch games and PC games which are still available for sale is just straight up piracy. This is the type of thing that gets publishers putting DRM protection on their games.

Retro consoles sure, Modern day is not cool. I would also be watching network activity and checking for malware on something like this. They might not mean to have it but some modern day cracks could be running stuff in the background.

i agree, I dont care about any of the PC games personally. The ones in the list Id play I already own through Steam. Rather they had filled up Wii, Wii U and PS3 instead. But im sure there are others who love the PC games being apart of it. 🤷

Did you check this drive for any virus maleware? If buying anything like this on amazon is there anything I can do to make sure it's safe before I connect it to my PC?
I checked, and found nothing malicious. But everyone should check for themselves and run it on a separate PC or via a virtual machine just in case while doing so. Id rather not make the statement that there is nothing malicious on it as I cannot speak for every drive that gets shipped.

If I own a video game disc and I give it to my friend and he makes a copy of it. I’m allowed to do that because I own the game and I could share it with people that I know because in reality who is going to know.

You should make a video where you go into the folders to see if your able to add or remove games
its actually really easy to add and remove games. Just as you say go within the system folders and add/remove whatever you want. A little more to add the artwork but its simple.
seems like a decent build. How do you get to combine multidisc games on Retrobat? Pirating AAA games is bad enough but if they're making money from it, then they really will come down on them like a ton of bricks. I'm guessing they're sent from China? Might be impossible to get hold of them in that case.

@@genos_vacuum good luck most chrome books have crap for specs. Processor alone is normally 2-3 generations behind unless you for pegged for the over the top versions and even then they not only cost more they are still slower than a 600 laptop from BB or even Walmart.

Ive not tested it on any mini pc yet, but most the stuff on it should work on a lot of the mid level mini pc's I have reviewed... like the SER 5 from Beelink, I have mini pc's ive tested linked in my amazon influencer page if people want to check if anything is online etc.. www.amazon.com/shop/madlittlepixel
But with some of the AAA PC games and some higher end stuff on the emulation side settings may have to be tweaked a bit to get the best performance on most of the Mini PCs out there that are running integrated graphics or an AMD APU.

At $140, it's not that much more than just an external 2TB SSD. It's tempting for those PC games, but feels more dirty than pirating 20-40 year old games.
30 year old SMS and NES games that the publishers wont release is one thing. Current games is something entirely
@@FallicIdol I work for Microsoft and have for the last 27 years. I had a co-worker who was pirating newer Xbox 360 games and also J-Tagging Xbox 360’s. He was fired and then sued by Microsoft. After they got done, the individual development companies had a go, then FINALLY the US government got involved. He ended up owning millions in restitution and 5 years in prison (which he only served 2). Still beware… if one of these companies wants to make an example of you, they have MUCH better lawyers than the average person can afford.

How do PC games work?
Hope you scanned it first. I bought the launchbox drive and it had a Trojan horse on it that defender found
I always scan and check everything, but cannot say for sure if every drive that gets shipped is clear. But also at the same time gotta double check things as you will find some files get marked as malicious by Windows when they are not, especially PC game cracks. Ya never know though but ive not had a real issue yet.

I use a Mac Pro for my daily work, a Xbox Series X for gaming, and a QNAP NAS for storage. So for me there hasn’t been much need for a Windows based PC. Regardless, I need to build one just for emulation gaming… so I feel your pain, LOL!
