Great video. Mini pc's are getting better, and have more and more capacity to run more demanding games. It is worth mentioning that some models also have the ability to run the system from an SD card. This option is also very useful for people who want to run Batocera or some Linux distribution without breaking the factory system, etc.

A day without a TechDweeb video is like a day when you wake up and you have this little pain behind your eye and you think about calling your boss and telling her you aren't going to make it in to work and then you reconsider because you're planning on calling out sick next Tuesday because that is $2 admission day at Last Level and you really want to get the house record for Pac-Man even though Frenchie already has it and he's really good and you probably won't beat it and Frenchie is me. Exactly like that.
I did get my own version of that drive. The old 5tb, I think. I removed the Game Night folder, etc. Have used that to add some Rom hacks. I forget the name, but there is a trilogy of the NES Castlevanias I like where they are done in gray scale on top of additions. Giving it a much more universal monster feel from the 30s. Forgive me. I don't know the names of the hacks. I got them in a large file full of several rom hacks, and they are only listed as Castlevania (1), etc.
Your videos are truly the highlight of my week. Quickly became my favorite content creator on this platform. I hope you continue to do videos on budget devices like the RG35XX and how to get the most out of these. There seems to be a sweet spot in retro emulation at about $60 to $70 devices.
I appreciate you saying so! I will always make videos on budget handhelds. Not only because it's important for the market, but usually those are actually my favorite devices. I have more expensive devices but I keep reaching for my Miyoo Mini!
@@TechDweeb Ditto with the RG35XX man. I love it. I was all about the Miyoo, but I keep on getting terrible quality devices. One of my 3 Original Minis has dead pixels and a bad speaker. One of my 2 mini plus devices has a bad speaker, the other Mini + has a lose/creaky screen. This is after an exchange with one that had a bad D pad. I don't know what it is about the quality / build of the Mini systems, but I've had some bad luck. My first RG35XX has zero issues.
You have so many systems, you should check out some custom-ish mechanical keyboards to use with them! The budget space (45-100) is going crazy right now, there's so many options that are just absolutely incredible, lightyears nicer than that grey/orange board you have or 99% of other mass-market options available in the past. It's a big rabbit-hole, but I can easily help you pick out one or two to try that you'll be really impressed with as they sound and feel incredible, and most options have 2.4ghzdongle + bluetooth wireless so they'll work with any of these mini pcs or android-based handhelds/phones/tablets and such.

Very good setup, nice to see that even non gaming mini pcs can perform very well, in fact even a celeron or a raspberry pi could be used to make an arcade cabinet at home I guess. I think you're one of the first english youtubers that I saw using a Blackview product, here in Brazil many tech inflencers make videos about the Blackview cellphones, trying to basically destroy them but never succeeding, It's a very niche company but i would like an invincible tablet to give to my children😅😅😂.

Very unique controller, I'm impressed at the quality of the sticks and triggers, the buttons have a very interesting feel. It's not my favorite controller in the world but I find myself grabbing it quite often because it's quick and easy to connect to PC.
I have never tried out a mini pc before, I chose to purchase a Beelink SER5 MAX. I'm personally excited for when it arrives, I'm planning on installing FL Studio to test out how much of a difference it's 32GB of ram will sound compared to my Desktop which only has 16GB of ram.

There's nothing about retrobat / ES that stops it being used to launch high end system emulators is there? Having two launchers is just an artifact of this drive having been slapped together isn't it?
I went with the ace magician myself but it’s a bit more powerful it has a ryzen 7 and I went with 32gb of ram..I went the plug and play route to save time.

This was great. The hotkeys on ps2 games were a bit of a nightmare though, combination controller moves like holding up with L1 would save states and screenshot, messing up the gameplay. I guess it's just a case of setting up the controller and userface config for each emulator then using the retrobat frontend etc.
Hi dweeb I got my drive but the dreamcast games are moving at tripple speed and I dont find the way into the emulators to fix this or find the internal resolution upscaler. Please help!.
Strange. Here's what I'd suggest: - Open the retroarch settings with select+B - Go to the core options, then performance, and check to see if there is any frame skipping. - Also check the 'video' options, try setting the broadcast standard to NTSC (or try PAL if they're pal roms) -Or try chaging the 'cable type' to vga or TV (RGB) There might be other options in the core options that can help you out. I can't test them because it's working fine for me. You can also as for help in the Retoarch subreddit. Good luck!

I watched this video and saw your screen making adjustments to make the games run but I don't know how you did it. Yes I am old and new to the world of emulation gaming 🤣
Ah, you can probably get those gamecube games running perfectly if you adjust the resolution. What you want to do is open up the Launchbox folder, then the Emulators folder, and then open Dolphin-emu, and then launch dolphin.exe. Then you can open the graphics options, and under the 'enhancements' settings you can change the internal resolution (try setting it to 1x to start). Close the settings and dolphin, then launch a game. It should have remembered your settings and run better. If that works you can play around with higher resolutions. The process is similar for PS3. Open RPCS3 and adjust the resolution settings (can't recall the exact options but you can figure that out). Good luck!
Yeah I think the Retro Beast is probably the better choice. The one thing I don't like about it is that it uses hyperspin instead of retrobat, so it's not as customizable or tweakable, but it is a solid build and everything is configured correctly and the ROM sets are freaking amazing, so it gets my vote.
Ive been setting up my own drive only 256gb with retrobat but trust me its more than plenty, i got all types of emulation up to ps2 with a few Wii games, everything runs great though some systems can require a bit of tinkering....i only added the best of the best
I need help I have powered USB hub I can't boot batocera when I connect my HDD through USB hub but I can boot it when I connect HDD directly with laptop I to connect it through USB hub so that I can connect controller also
I just ordered the hyper drive and want to know a recommended console for Xbox 360 and switch emulations. I am looking for something with a bit more power but not the powerful pc as I also want to run my own steam account on the same pc. If you could point me into the right direction that would be great. Why have the older stuff on a different frontend from the newer stuff? Both frontends could have the old stuff and the new stuff on them. Heck, I even have my different pc games (across all of the different storefronts) on launch box.

Yeah that's one of the things I don't like about this particular drive. I personally would have preferred if they stuck with retrobat for the whole thing.
Batocera is another great choice. I personally prefer running through windows so that we get access to windows stuff at the same time (for PC games, browsing web, cloud saves, file management, etc), but if ALL you care about is emulating older systems then batocera works great.
I have a um690 and a 5tb hyperbase mix. It's a decent setup, but the gamecube and ps2 games run like garbage... I don't know what is wrong with the performance or configuration. But, it runs so bad I quit trying.

PS3 emulation is tricky, some games can be very demanding. The best cheap mini PC I've found is the Trigkey S (5800h version), but if you're looking for a handheld I'd go with the ROG Ally. The Steam Deck and the 6800u handhelds can play most ps3 but not every single game will run perfectly. Really if you want the best emulation performance and want to make sure your favourite games will run, you should look at a gaming laptop or PC. Hope this helps!
You know how illegal these "Emulator Drives" are right? Selling tonnes of IP that the seller doesn't have a license to sell? I wouldn't encourage / endorse these in the slightest.
Just shoving a game console under my TV. Isn't gonna make it work because if it's not connected to my TV? I'm not gonna get no video output to the television from the console. So how is having a console just magically shoved under my TV give me the video game experience that I want

You won't be able to run the emulation app, but if you set up the emulators on your shield you can use the rom libraries off the drive.
Are you able to delete games that you don't want or libraries of you don't want and replace them with more weekend games for Wii u games

I have a um690 and a 5tb hyperbase mix. It's a decent setup, but the gamecube and ps2 games run like garbage... I don't know what is wrong with the performance or configuration. But, it runs so bad I quit trying.

PS3 emulation is tricky, some games can be very demanding. The best cheap mini PC I've found is the Trigkey S (5800h version), but if you're looking for a handheld I'd go with the ROG Ally. The Steam Deck and the 6800u handhelds can play most ps3 but not every single game will run perfectly. Really if you want the best emulation performance and want to make sure your favourite games will run, you should look at a gaming laptop or PC. Hope this helps!

That's my phone! Not perfect for Wii, some games won't run well, but it can handle all Gamecube.
You know how illegal these "Emulator Drives" are right? Selling tonnes of IP that the seller doesn't have a license to sell?

@@TechDweeb emulation itself is legal. Buying a drive loaded full of ROMs I would say crosses the line.
Just shoving a game console under my TV. Isn't gonna make it work because if it's not connected to my TV? I'm not gonna get no video output to the television from the console. So how is having a console just magically shoved under my TV give me the video game experience that I want
