Ron, what is the best retro emulation console in your opinion? I wouldn't mind buying one because I simply don't have the time to set one up on my own.
I built myself an EmuELEC 4.0 box two years ago. I first bought an SCX Pro then realized I can make the same thing. So I bought a TV box, installed EmuELEC 4.0, just copied the BIOS and ROM files over, and voila...more powerful system based on the S905X3 and 2GB RAM. I also paired it with a couple of new wireless gamepads from EasySMX. Cost me $70.
These are perfect for Arcade1up mods and/or a minimalist type of setup. You always have to keep your expectations in check, which is what you do an excellent job of pointing out. Idk why I enjoy these reviews so much lol. I think we’re all secretly hoping for one to be mind blowing or something.
I bought something similar on LAZADA in Thailand that hs 1000's of games that consists of a sm ll hdmi unit, two wireless game controllers and a usb cable used to power the unit that plugs directly into the usb port on the television or projector. Games in progress can be saved, individual games can be saved as favorites and so far, every game I have tried to play has worked flawlessly. There are duplicates, the same as described in the video, but that is no issue because the games that I remeber from my younger years are there and those are the ones I want to play. Additionally, the controllers work great, I see no noticable lag and after playing for about a year or so, both controllers are still working fine and neither one seems to be suffering any issues from use. One of my all time favorite purchases.
@@Nosaveddataretro did you look at the game list it's pathetic. they are missing the best games from so many systems. have 1 360 game. no real sega games. cool you have videos for your games. guess what you dont have. THE BEST GAMES TO PLAY. absolute FAIL.
Still on the fence if I’ll grab one , I see no difference from the x2 and the x2 pro. Better image quality? What sells me is the library of games , especially game boy colour. Big gems on there, especially Super Nintendo. If you are a collector who simply doesn’t have space or money to own every physical copy, this might be for you. Yeah some of the games don’t work, but I’ve also seen on other channels you can change settings on the games to make them a bit more playable. Sad with yoshis story, that game is amazing. Who remembers playing it on the n64 consoles they had set up at McDonald’s at the wal marts ?!?! There are games I have never heard of that look very interesting. As a kid I never got to play the neo geo stuff , or owned a game gear or any sega stuff, Nintendo and Sony all the way lol
And yet it is stupidly illegal. Nintendo games on a game machine not made by Nintendo? The big Nintendo attack is waiting around the corner to be unleashed on anyone selling this thing and maybe anyone owning it.
Hey it’s worth it to just create a rom library . Put file on your computer as a library . Then copy the games you own into a file . Add your library into any device for emulation . Thousands of hours and viruses saved vs downloading roms .
The reason why there are so many different versions is due to updates. It's relevant if you have a particular play style. For example, many versions of fighting games have updates to fix CPU advantage, giving players a fairer playing experience.
Great work! On your next review can you please focus some attention to MAME type games? Specifically NBA Jams or NBA Hang Time? I always seem to run into problems emulating those
As long as I can finally find a decent running MvC2 running in one of these machines, I'll buy it. For me it's worth it than the astronomical prices from the physical console games to the scalpers buying all the arcade 1up versions of the game.
I still have retro consoles from my childhood, but I generally emulate the games I have on Windows PCs. Batocera looks like a worthwhile game based Linux distro. A review of Batocera would make a worthwhile video, IMO.
Save you money and go for the super console x4 plus, i got one of these x2 pro and the PSX games ( not all)have either no sound graphics issues or refuse to load, tried all the emulators the 3 games that my buyer picked up on b4 he returned it run fine on the x4
I've bought a couple of them and yeah there all about the same. I look at Quality not quantity. If it plays "Killer Instinct" the Arcade perfect, That's a good sign of performance and if there's not Alot of copies. Also a controller with a good D-Pad, Especially for Fighting Games.
absolutely agree, I only got one that was pre loaded in my life, and the rom list for ps1 was all in Portuguese, I would love to see a quality rom list, btw that same buy all the audio was missing too
Took me forever to figure out how to switch games without resetting. Best I can figure if you push the buttons down on the joysticks together you get to a menu you can exit the game and get back to the menu. If someone knows a different way I'd be interested ... Hot key doesn't seem to do much
I’ve wasted money on several boxes from China, etc, etc… I tried Kinhank stuff as well I would say most games do run great and some are just downright horrendous to play, but for the cheap route it’s not bad either I suggest if you really want every game running smoothly you have to pay extra, but it’s a chore to do though so I go cheap 😂
There must be tons of people who have every ROM from the 80s and 90s burned to cds or something. Selling them is pretty sus… they’re not theirs to sell, but a lot of people don’t want to or don’t know how to get the games themselves.
Out of 108k games, probably about 100k are either duplicates, don't work right if they even work at all, or foreign language versions, some even fall in more than one of these categories.
What's a good one that has every PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 game on it? I'm looking for one with all the old Tomb Raider games on it and the Tenchu Stealth Assassin's games on it. That is worth the money that ain't a full PC.
I have same one and I do not get any slowdown at all even on the games you mentioned. What cpu and gpu are you running? I got an Intel 10900k with a 4070ti and 64gb ddr4 ram.
The main two questions I think everyone has is number one, can you add your own ROMs to it and then too, is there any input lag when using Bluetooth controllers. No one ever seems to address the importance of input lag on these machines. Whether it be retropie builds on raspberry pi 1 through the newest iterations or, these emulation machines. If the only way you can play these with your Bluetooth controllers is with a half-second input lag, it makes them completely unusable for Ninety-Nine percent of us.
I can say they is some lag on the included controllers with these super consoles. I have the X cube and I swapped them out for a wired PS3 and an 8bitdo SNES controller and it works awesome now. & yes you can add your own ROMs and delete ones off the system.
The issue here is including unnecessary ROMS which you cant even use elsewhere because you may run into a problem. Otherwise I would have got it just to have a ready back up of ROMs for the miniPC I can build myself. Is there a way to buy ROMS (up to Wii U and PS3) on demand or may be the most popular titles?
There are emulated collections like the NeoGeo Pocket collection that contain the ROMs. Also, there are virtual consoles on Wii U and 3DS for everything Wii and before Wii but you obviously need a 3DS/Wii U and the eShop is going to close very soon.
There is only two systems I like to know if they work, and for some strange reason -even thou they both are 30 years apart from each other - they both seem impossible to emulate. Its the Nintendo 64, and the Oddessy 2 (Philips G7000 ?) 😄

Hey Ron I've been looking for a replacement to the Nvidia shield Tv pro 2019. Gave it away and don't feel like spending $200 bucks to replace it. Do you know of a cheaper better alternative? I loved the 4k HDR on it.
If you want to do it yourself....I hear ya....it's all I can do to get roms on an ever drive. I would pay the 100 bucks though to play games on my big flat screen without having to use that sketchy thing I got that boosts to 480i for old systems that's a pain and gets so hot it scares me.
Does anybody knows how to play with other controllers? I have used several and they work in the menus, but once in the game the buttons remap and most games are unplayable. So I want to know how to prevent the auto button remap, as it happens in almost every console.
You did us a favor and tested it out and yeah it sucks that it didn’t live up to it’s potential. Have you ever tried locate a emulator that people put in a Wii system or psp ? I’d like you to find a Wii emulator and see if it’s worth buying.
For $135 this is like a steal for those that aren't too technical savvy and just want to plug it up and start playing.
