Wasn't mentioned but this drive, like all his others, have lifetime upgrades. I have a 48 TB configuration, updates are every month which include new games, artwork, fixes, improvements, etc.
Not all drive have Lifetime upgrades. For example, the 2 TB Arcade drive which is no longer offered does not have anymore upgrades or support. So now I'm stuck with the older version and no way to upgrade to his last version he released. And me not being very techy cant figure out how to upgrade the controls which stopped working, so now have a worthless drive.
Wish I had 48TB build you should make video I would watch. I never knew this existed until the 2019 an trying to learn all I can an love the artwork by the builders an Emulation perps. I just got to say Thank you all for sharing knowledge.
I have his 8tb drive, very nice with constant updates and fixes.
Excellent well balanced review. I do have this drive for my OneXPlayer and it runs well. I did find it struggled with the higher end systems and mentioned it to Kris who had already implemented a one click solution to drop the settings in that instance. I’m just doing an update which will have that now built in to the drive. I am sure Kris will take on board the very valid points you raise where improvement is needed, like wheel art and the computer set up which isn’t consistent with this build or his bigger build which I also have. He is always looking at ways to improve which come with the updates. As for the Wii, I don’t miss that as I wouldn’t use it on a handheld device.

I wish it was more plug in play. It’s kind of a pain to set up. At least for me it was.
For this kind of build it is as plug and play as it can get, does require a little bit of setup, i think it wouldnt be too bad if it was better explained on the setup stuff. Does seem some systems need to have buttons configured as well.

@@stephenedwards9341 it works well you just have to manually install a bunch of drivers and move file folders around. Just was hoping it was more plug it in and go.
Why is there a CoinOPS video playing at 2:32? I also spotted a few other familiar icons and artworks. Did KrisCoolMod rip off another OpenSource project to sell you this build?
This was interesting to watch. I read in the comment section. You can acquire a 48 TB drive. I would need 10 lifetimes to play every game.

Bloody hell hes selling a cheapo drive full of other peoples ip for hundreds of dollars? People like this give the emulation scene a bad name, blatant profiteering and I really wouldnt like to be in his shoes when Nintendo finds out, which they will thanks to him shilling the thing on youtube.
Anyone selling these compilation drives with Switch games is crazy. Noway I would risk that knowing what Nintendo is like.

With RB5 mini price 4T I did my own Emulator costume with share play from my private cloud 40T it is not SSD but it is very comfortable all my friends are happy with it …

Good afternoon. For the Genesis console, is Def Jam Vendetta and Def Jam fight for NY on there, and for the light gun games, Let's go Jungle, an, Let's go Island. Thanks in advance. I'm considering getting this
is this the end of development as we see it? once the parasitic drive sellers are getting publicized, it's over, actual devs shut down, it's all stolen work, done by others for free, everything he offers is free, lovingly put together by actual developers for the good of the community, then stolen, filled with roms, and sold for cheap shortsighted profit, (usually a lot uglier, missing art, mashed up themes) it stops the chain I suppose, the seller won't have anything to steal, but the community loses regardless, Vman is gone, CoinOPS is behind closed doors, who's next, very disappointed to see this getting publicity, for the price of a free harddrive, disappointing
a direct example, CoinOPS were planning on a full new build to replace collections, even talking about making it easier to add/use, but, due to this issue, are now, shelving that plan, community loses out, as sellers who take, remove the name, and call it something new to make a profit, directly killed the development, and the recent rise in publicity for drive sellers for the price of a free drive, has quickened the process, very upsetting for someone who works hard in their free time, to make something for free, gratis, nada, for the sellers to slap their name on it and sell under their noses, I get that reviewers, not their job to judge (loved your previous vid telling people to stop wasting their money), but, reviewers are a huge cog in the wheel, and when one cog breaks...
@@martinbland4949 Brother these old games would become lost media if not for pirates and emulation. The megacorpos only care about day one or week one sales to get stock prices up, they don't give a flip about older games.
It I’ll be interesting to see which of the cheapest mini pc can run the higher end consoles because that hard drive isn’t cheap😢
Looks like a nice product! That wheel though... Is there no way to search for games by name or anything else than having to scroll through the wheel, because I can see that becoming a chore REAL fast if you know what you want to play.

I bought his 16tb setup back in 2020 but my drive corrupted and he won't let me redownload despite claims of lifetime updates.

Have you asked about sending it back for a rebuild? I’ve seen Kris offer that to others when they have either not updated each month and the drive needs redoing, or if having a problem. He will likely make a charge, but that’s only fair as time is money.

So I looked into this getting ready to buy, and in terms of ROM selection I was *really* let down. So the 360/xbox/PS2/PS3/switch collections aren't complete, entirely expected. So which games were included? Just the main AAA ones....right? Look at the included game lists for those systems. It's the worst collection imaginable. No Metal Gear Solid? No Gears of War? No Forza? No RDR? No GTA VC? No time splitters? All a bunch of shitty games I've never heard of, which makes the partial collections kinda useless... I think they just chose titles at random... Kinda leaves you with just SNES, NES, Genesis, arcades, etc. And that's fine, but not for $300 USD The price isn't worth it for only retro systems. I'd def. have bought it last night if he included the popular titles for those incomplete systems. I can only imagine he left them out to try and upsell you to the 16 or something for 2x the cost.
yea i looked at the xbox and the games the selection looked lame makes me think he wants to force you to spend 1000 dollars .he should add the games you want for the price he charges even at 4tb he should add the games we want but that would cost even more a pity
@@patrickkerns2022 Well doing each one custom is time consuming, so I can understand not doing that. But ffs he should have included the popular ones. It's ridiculous not to. But yea, I think his goal is to upcharge which is really kinda slimy IMO. I bought a 2TB on Amazon for like $80 that doesn't have complete collections but has many of the mainstream PS2/Xbox/GC/etc. games which I'd want to play. All the ones I looked for were there. No retro stuff though, but that's easy enough to find elsewhere.

Interesting. Bit pricey. I see people in the comments talking about updates, how exactly do you update this? I thought they just mailed you a drive?
It's a sync. It comes with a utility that you run monthly, it indexes your drive with Kris' drive on his server and then syncs your drive to match his.

The idea is pretty appealing, but a little worried about downloading arbitrary software and running it.

I'm with everyone here that says this looks like an overpriced POS slap together of Hyperspin. That being said this is not the case. For whatever reason MadPixels Beast Launcher brought him into the backup Hyperspin launcher and not the Fully dedicated setup of Coin Ops that Kris had put together. The ending of the video where Mr Pixel sayd he wished it would be more customised in the PC wheel. well it is under the Coin Ops build. The Hyperspin is just a backup incase Coin Ops fails. I hope that Mr MadPixel can get with Myself of Kris and get it resolved and maybe a second look at. Bacause again this does look bad compared to the Normal Coin Ops launcher set.
Hey, looks interesting. Is there a minimum size to get all arcade setups and console setups completely set up? I understand if you lack a lot of larger games on the smaller drive(s), but I want to know which I could get to get lifetime upgrades and not have to set up entire systems myself.
@@tosvus The 4tb Mini has all the old school arcade games on it.
If your getting 4tb of memory it should at least come with the full library of n64. It's only 8gb for around 300 games aka the full library

No it’s $860 for 16TB, the 96TB is 5K lol. Kind of outrageous prices in my opinion. I know he offers updates and support and it takes time to configure everything but still that is ludicrous!

Its $651.00 per 16 terabyte drive ( converted from Canadian to U.S.)...I have 5 of them because one of the drives is about entertainment like Kodi, Jukeboxes , and Magazine's and stuff. I spent $3,255 it's a lot but its worth it to me...Its over 2,500 PC games on this thing which also included the PS5 and Series X forms of those systems ....
I wish was true about the 96tb men but it cost 3604.51 $ men sorry

great vid these builds always have flaws in it. you could customize it yourself for your own liking providing you have your own roms and artwork and vids.
What’s the main difference between 4TB, 8tb and those much bigger ones
The 4tb is basically a starter setup as we have gone in and condensed what's on what what control scheme is used to save space. But also what's good about his free updates (not talked about in the video) is that on the Discord we have a discussion group of what could be pulled off and added onto as well as emulators updates to keep everything running smoothly.
So how are there bigger than 12 TB hard drives used in the setup Are they multiple hard drives or is there truly 24 or 48 or 64 and 96 terabyte drives out there all in one? I've never seen drives that big they must cost a fortune if they were even empty.

Hey can you test out the Siden light gun on shooters and the G920 racing wheel for racers? Ive had similar setups from other sellers before and gun games and racing game controls are always poorly implemented
On this build everything is configured for the Xbox controllers. His bigger 16-96tb setups they are configure and have dedicated wheels for Siden & gun4ir and Racing wheel controllers.

@Fluoride Jones correct. As long as you can connect it to your pc preferably by the xbox dongle. It will work no issues.

I already seen this drive earlier. The builder is on drugs if he thinks people are going to pay $399.00 for stolen property! Get real man no one is going to order a $70 EHDD with pirated ROMS for $399.00! I can see charging $199 at most. Cost of HDD and his time cloning each drive, which lets be honest. He is not even doing any work to clone the drives. This guy is out of touch with the times and needs to rethink his price, if he is really trying to move units! Waste of time and money in my opinion,. also a majority of ROMS are not working...
How can you say most ROM aren't working if you do not own it? I can assure you if the game is on that Drive it loads up and is the correct game. As for the people that keep saying $399 thats not the Price its $300. I am with you on the video as it seems like slapped together Hyperspin build as that is how the Backup launcher is. The coin Ops build thats was way more customized did not launch for Mad Pixel for whatever reason. As someone thats bought a bunch of drive from off ETSY, Ebay, and Amazon I can tell you first hand this will be the first and last setup you'd need to get. But to each their own. Everyone is entiled to their own Opinion. I just don't get how you can say the Majority of the ROMs don't work when in fact thats a outright falsehood.

The way the computers are set up (i.e. not categorized by system) is a non-starter for me.
Yeah was a weird way to do it. The guy changed it later though since I brought it up. Now they are categorized properly.

Nope, you need to plug it into some sort of PC; be it a handheld, mini, laptop, desktop, etc.
@@Fluoride_Jones After plugging it into a mini, can't you just HDMI the mini then to your TV? That's how I would like to do this. Haven't bought the 4tb yet but looking into it. Don't have a gaming laptop.

@@squeak751 I have a similar 2TB Drive SSD with curated games....It's set up very similar...I just didn't like the way that the dashboard wheel was cluttered with miss- mash of consoles and collections.....
I got you. I just wish the launcher would have went into the coinops build. It's so much cleaner on that launcher. There's a few other reviews of this setup out there on youtube that the reviewers where able to launch into the coinops build . It's definitely worth a look
Will these games work on steam deck?
He has a Steam Deck version. It's only 1tb but hes working on getting a full 4tb and 96tb in Dock mode to run on the SteamDeck

I suppose it works with the Ally since it runs Windows, but why would you want to buy an expensive handheld just to have it tethered to a hard drive?
@@piratesephiroth I didn’t buy the ally just to have it tethered. I already ordered an ally, if I can also use it to play retro games docked it will be another usage for it.
He has a 1tb option for Steamdeck. The Ally as its new thus will work on it. He has an option to make it a SSD for lighter and more versatile to use with a handheld.
