For the record, GameSir make absolutely incredible controllers, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if that gamepad had microswitches for the face buttons, and hall-effect analogue sensors for the joysticks and/or the triggers.
I used a mini PC a HP Elitedesk with a Ryzen 5 2400G for $100 and use Batocera, Xbox controller works great. Took a couple days to fully set up, but now It's great. Just need to get some more games.
I'm gonna get one of these things in the next year or so, keep the reviews coming. I'd be willing to buy a beefier system to play some more advanced consoles, too. I really hope they listen to you on better curated lists and the ability to start up directly into game selection (but retain the ability to easily get to Windows).
And I think the reason why is because it has a certain program installed on it! I tried to fix it with retroarch but it's in Chinese! How could you sell Americans products with retroarch in Chinese!! But I added and deleted a lot of games and I think that's what might have messed it up! That's all I can think of because I did nothing
Don't waste your money. Buy an Xbox series S and do dev mode. Then install all emus and apps you want. It is cheaper than this and much better power and quality and you get warranty with MS. You're taking a huge risk with this. Imagine you buy it then the company disappears and you're stuck with a Chinese paperweight with no idea on how to fix if something happens. Not worth it bro
Price is a little steep, considering you can get a mini PC and load emulators for less than $150. It takes extra work, but it's worth it to save yourself $170.
To each their own. I have absolutely zero interest in buying a system that I have to set up myself. I'm just not nerdy enough. I'd consider - am considering - one of these though. Would rather pay the extra for something relatively plug and play. Can't put a price on your own spare time ;-)

I know there's a lot of people that dont like these loaded game boxes, but i like kinhank products. Ive been using the super console x cube for a couple of years now and it didn't disappoint. Glad to see kinhank got a new box and especially new controller!

@@Limowreck207 well the only thing I had to do was configure the controller button layout. It's simple. It does come with an HDMI cord, so you'll need an HDTV. You can do so much tinkering with the settings but it's not required. It is mostly plug and play.

That type of d-pad, like any sony d-pad ever, is really the best bc each of its buttons is "encased" , thus resulting much more precise than the round or cross shaped pads.
Okay, disclaimers: I'm a nearly 40 mom who hasn't played a video game since ps2 in 2006. I've had a back injury, which may be heading toward surgery and a Loooooong recovery. I thought to myself, "self, this would be easier if i had a ps2" looked into it and damn that ish is expensive. Then 3ish days ago I learned the word emulator. And that some blessed souls have preserved the turbografx 16 (the console I grew up with) and its possible to have both tg16 and ps2 at the same time! And everything in between. Actual question: this appears to be truly plug and play, straight into the tv without needing a pc to run it through. And can play ps2. I know it can be done by yourself and yadayada i do not have that skill set, and with two 5year olds i do not have the time or inclination to learn. Is this what it seems?
Super Console X5 Pro and you want to specify the 4Tb version. It will have a bit more of the PS2 and lower as well mostly complete sets of roms. This will probably your best bet to get up to the PS2 and a bit more even in a plug and play setup. They are improving all the time but if you get something even with all these games and it only has a few games of the systems you hold dear, you will get upset after the novelty wears off.
This probably is what you want or at least close to it. Although I think at a similar price you can get a Super Console X5 Pro (4TB) version, it's got a very clean build with over 600 PS2 games, the full Game Cube and US Dreamcast collections, 33 Wii games and then everything older with no double or triple copies. It hooks up to whatever screen you have and can also access the Google Play Store and any streaming service once hooked up to WiFi. 😄👍
I don’t understand covering illegal systems and roms when most of these products don’t even last long for sale due to their legality. Seems to run out of ideas so turn to these boxes.
Virtua Fighter 3 is a fine fighting game, Sega just took way too long getting it to console because of the Saturn's commercial issues. If they could've made that port happen, the conversation around VF3 would be entirely different.

Actually emulators run better with less cores,on my steam deck I use pluggys power tools to go from 8 cores to 4 and the ps2 and Nintendo switch emulators run at 60fps with upscaling.
Loading screen minigames are tied up in a patent/trademark thing. That's why we don't get them anymore. You are also correct about the games list on theses, a top 20 or top 50 list at the start of each would be amazing
Yeah burnout 3 is fixed these days in pcsx2 with no tweaked settings. I dont think these games are tuned game by game at all. I bet any of those Nintendo DS games that have to be turned side ways (ninja gaiden, brain age, rhythm heaven, hotel dusk) are not turned sideways.
Why would you get this one? Just get a Steam Deck when it's on sale for 350 dollars new or 320 refurbished and get a dock if you really need to play it on TV. The Steam Deck has a LOT more power than that system and can emulated some PS3 games and almost all Switch and Xbox 360 ones + is portable so is already far more versatile than that PC box.
Yeah but setting up a Steam Deck for all that emulation is gonna be too much trouble for the average person. This comes out of the box ready to play without either having knowledge of pcs and stuff or looking on Etsy for preloaded sd cards

That app already installs and downloads the latest emulators for you, all you need to do is "legally" (obviously, cough*, cough*) get your roms aka games but everything else is pretty much 1 mouse click aka Steam Deck click with your R2 or right analog stick R3 or clicking on the track pad button (I prefer using R2 as my right mouse click), that's pretty much it.
I have had a GameSir as my PC controller for years. They are quality controllers...... and your GameSir has a "Mouse mode". Not a good mouse option, but serviceable.
In the not so distant future… All games will come on their own flash drive/Hard drive type devices with the game on it. It’s own controller & cutting out the console companies

Just ordered this, after considering Ryzen 5800 systems, but couldn't find any that were all pre-configured like this one. I'm not expecting this to do satisfactory PS2 / DC / GC / Xbox OG / 3DS stuff, but through PS1 level it's a nice "dip the toe in" level. Got it for $255.
OK. I just went through most of the website, & there's a "Super PC Box" that has 120,000 games in it, plus an 8-thread quad-core CPU for $600.00. And that's it being on sale. They also have much cheaper consoles, as low as about $110 with their 35-38% sale happening right now. And from what I've seen, those consoles are pure consoles - no mouse needed.
Pretty impressive! The price is right and the gamelist of all the systems shown are also pretty good and the controller is made by Gamesir, which to me is as good as 8bit Do since I have couple controllers from them. I'm surprised this little chip, Intel Alder Lake N100 can play up to Game Cube, let alone PS2 or Wii U (of course I don't think it can play all of them!)! But I think it is possible because of the help of LPDDR5 4800mhz, with slower memory 3200mhz, I don't think it can! Overall, good deal for the whole package! 👍
GameSir controllers are not bad. I own a back bone style controller and it feels really good actually. A bit tricky to setup throught the app but the controller itself feels great.
This might be a very dumb question, but can you hook one of these up to a TV? Will it need any form of PC tower required or PC parts to operate just like a gaming console in your living room?
Exactly. For games before the 6th generation , I run emulators on my Xbox Series X in dev mode . It works great and I reboot into retail mode to play newer Xbox titles.

@@haarlemceo7085 It's best to get experience on a PC first. Locating files, extracting files, and getting the right core to run them. Arcade Mame games don't need to be extracted but in RetroArch you'll have to test out different cores if your mame rom don't run. If you lack a PC and don't have the tools to extract other roms. There's also online extracters. So for instance. You wanna play Nintendo. You have no PC to get anything. You would Google on your device for the rom. Once the rom game is inside your Nvidia shield. You would then Google for an online extracter. Meaning you would upload the rom to extract it. Like if you downloaded Super Mario 3 and find out there's ten roms of the same game but slightly different. Just look for the one that has (!) That's the official super Mario 3. Just download the main super Mario 3 and ignore the 9 duplicated roms to save on space. Now to run this super Mario 3 rom. You would download the nestopia core inside RetroArch. Load up the core, load up the rom, you're good to go if you have Bluetooth controller. All the other cores are basically the same concept. Other cores might need a bios to run like Sega Saturn. It's a easy Google search to get the bios. The hard part is placing that bios inside the right folder if you never had any experience moving files. It's way easier getting the roms from a PC before hand. Then sticking all the roms inside a USB flash drive. Then plugging the flash drive inside the Nvidia shield. Extra difficult if you lack a PC.

my advice is to build a brand new system with a ryzen 3200g in it, those cpu's go for about 50 euro new these days, u build the whole system for under 250 euro.
Honestly, I would have preferred if this mini PC came with Batocera instead of Windows 11 with Retrobat after all the idea is for this to be a retro game mini console not a full on pc with the ability to retro game in it and personally speaking i've alwais had a better gaming experience on Batocera that on Retrobat.
"EVERYTHING" is quite a bold claim. is it able to run the arcade versions of mvc2, tekken4, fate unlimited codes, and soul calibur 2? i have my own retroarch rig(i had to create several helper programs in order to get everything tidy), which i compiled myself because it didnt come with certain functionality that i wanted....but i havent been able to get those particular games to work.

yeah 2200g and 2400g are great for emulators, even emulates most ps2 games easily.

I have had a GameSir as my PC controller for years. They are quality controllers...... and your GameSir has a "Mouse mode". Not a good mouse option, but serviceable.

I can digg it. This is kenhanks 1st mini PC if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure future iterations will be nothing but better. The controller does look good tho
They pretty much stole this hardware and just put a bunch of emulators and roms on it and called it a day. Can’t really or at all call this kinhank’s mini pc. Seeing how it’s not “theirs”

Just ordered this, after considering Ryzen 5800 systems, but couldn't find any that were all pre-configured like this one. I'm not expecting this to do satisfactory PS2 / DC / GC / Xbox OG / 3DS stuff, but through PS1 level it's a nice "dip the toe in" level. Got it for $255.

OK. I just went through most of the website, & there's a "Super PC Box" that has 120,000 games in it, plus an 8-thread quad-core CPU for $600.00. And that's it being on sale. They also have much cheaper consoles, as low as about $110 with their 35-38% sale happening right now. And from what I've seen, those consoles are pure consoles - no mouse needed.
For me, the hard part is getting the games to work. Ps1, N64, NeoGeo

Pretty impressive! The price is right and the gamelist of all the systems shown are also pretty good and the controller is made by Gamesir, which to me is as good as 8bit Do since I have couple controllers from them. I'm surprised this little chip, Intel Alder Lake N100 can play up to Game Cube, let alone PS2 or Wii U (of course I don't think it can play all of them!)! But I think it is possible because of the help of LPDDR5 4800mhz, with slower memory 3200mhz, I don't think it can! Overall, good deal for the whole package! 👍

GameSir controllers are not bad. I own a back bone style controller and it feels really good actually. A bit tricky to setup throught the app but the controller itself feels great.

This might be a very dumb question, but can you hook one of these up to a TV? Will it need any form of PC tower required or PC parts to operate just like a gaming console in your living room?

People are lazy and can't place a rom inside of a rom folder but can easily give away money.
Exactly. For games before the 6th generation , I run emulators on my Xbox Series X in dev mode . It works great and I reboot into retail mode to play newer Xbox titles.
Simple bios searches for each emulator, roms a Google search. Retrobat. Retroarch.

@@haarlemceo7085 It's best to get experience on a PC first. Locating files, extracting files, and getting the right core to run them. Arcade Mame games don't need to be extracted but in RetroArch you'll have to test out different cores if your mame rom don't run. If you lack a PC and don't have the tools to extract other roms. There's also online extracters. So for instance. You wanna play Nintendo. You have no PC to get anything. You would Google on your device for the rom. Once the rom game is inside your Nvidia shield. You would then Google for an online extracter. Meaning you would upload the rom to extract it. Like if you downloaded Super Mario 3 and find out there's ten roms of the same game but slightly different. Just look for the one that has (!) That's the official super Mario 3. Just download the main super Mario 3 and ignore the 9 duplicated roms to save on space. Now to run this super Mario 3 rom. You would download the nestopia core inside RetroArch. Load up the core, load up the rom, you're good to go if you have Bluetooth controller. All the other cores are basically the same concept. Other cores might need a bios to run like Sega Saturn. It's a easy Google search to get the bios. The hard part is placing that bios inside the right folder if you never had any experience moving files. It's way easier getting the roms from a PC before hand. Then sticking all the roms inside a USB flash drive. Then plugging the flash drive inside the Nvidia shield. Extra difficult if you lack a PC.

my advice is to build a brand new system with a ryzen 3200g in it, those cpu's go for about 50 euro new these days, u build the whole system for under 250 euro.

Honestly, I would have preferred if this mini PC came with Batocera instead of Windows 11 with Retrobat after all the idea is for this to be a retro game mini console not a full on pc with the ability to retro game in it and personally speaking i've alwais had a better gaming experience on Batocera that on Retrobat.

i have my own retroarch rig(i had to create several helper programs in order to get everything tidy), which i compiled myself because it didnt come with certain functionality that i wanted....but i havent been able to get those particular games to work.
