if you are not tech savy and you buy this, then use an xbox controller. anything else will cause you a headache to reconfigure. Also run a virus scan. there are some trojans, however don't let that scare you from buying the product. Honestly the value of this is incredible. When you run an antivirus on this know that HACKS and CRACKS are NOT viruses. Those are there to either help you cheat in a game, or to launch specific games. TROJANS and RANSOMWARE are the bad ones. I found some of these but were easily managed with the antivirus that comes with windows - microsoft defender. go ahead and quarantine those that have a severe threat label. there is also a good chance that those threats are just false flags.
comments saying that anyone can create by himself this collection and the emulators... is like saying that anyone can build his house by laying bricks. xD
I remember spending an entire summer putting one of these together and it only had a couple terabytes. Although, there are easier ways to do this, now days.
Just got this hard drive and been playing with it for hours. I do consider myself an expert on emulation and could build this myself but I can assure you guys it would take months to years to set something like this up depending on how you go about it. So far everything has worked with controls including the pinball stuff and all the obscure stuff. All the teknoparot stuff is working and pretty much everything I've tested so far. Only a few systems like switch and a few others did not have control setup but most of the controls are set. The only other gripe is you might have to use the esc key or alt 4 to close some systems as the pre programed two button process on the Xbox controller does not close everything but closes most systems. If something is not working its probably related to the individual setup. This is definitely the real deal and would advise to grab it while you still can as something this good is never meant to last..
Hey I got mine a few days ago and me and my dad were amazed by the collection we had some fun but...... I was messing around with the DS games and I realize I couldn't play them so I extracted the files with winrar instead of seven zip and now I have an error message that I don't know how to fix please help please help please help😢
@@user-vb8ln5st3z The DS games worked on my setup and should have on yours so this is odd. However since you extracted the files they will not load unless you make changes to the emulator settings and or hyper spin itself. Ideally anything you alter you should make a copy of just in case as you can’t go back once you alter the files. You can try converting back to rar files? It hard to know what’s going on unless I can literally see the setup. These setups are extremely complex so if you’re not familiar with emulation and hyper spin stuff you should never attempt alter anything as literally one missing file can break the entire setup. Good luck bro .. Brother …
So happy you got this drive. I recently got this thing for the very reasons you listed. I work allot and just don't have the time to download all these rom's. I would love for someone to do a deep dive on this thing. For example how to properly and most effectively transfer these games to a RP3+ or RP2s. Also I have watched your channel and retro game core for over a year now and have been learning the retro game handheld scene very slowly but for some odd reason I still cant get my games to save. If you could do a small intro on how to do a save state very slowly that would be awesome. I just don't understand what I'm missing.
Awesome! For the saves, you mean in this drive or on your handhelds? If it's on this drive you'll need to open up the retoarch settings (l3 + r3) while the game is open, and then go to the main settings>input>hotkeys, and in there you can set whatever hotkey you want for save (I choose 'select' as the hotkey enable, and r1 as save, and l1 as load). Stop by my discord and ask for help if you need a hand :)
The amount of work is why i was intrigued by this product and clicked. 12tb's, 96,000 games?? no problems? yes please..but then you come in and sell it to me again. IM subbed now THank the TH-cam gods for directing me to this mighty nerd. oh and today is my birthday... and currently this is cheaper than advertised 8 months ago
In my opinion this is an incredible value. The 12TB enterprise grade drive and the external drive enclosure alone could cost what this does. Add in the enormous amount of games and emulators that this has. I only gave 4 stars because this isn't exactly intuitive to use. It isn't a simple plug n play unit. There is definitely some knowledge that is needed to make full use of this product. I have a generic Playstation controller that works perfectly well at navigating the menus and getting into the games. Once in the games the controller does nothing. Turns out that I have to go into all of the purported emulators and map out the controller for each of them. Many of which I have yet to figure out how to do. When I contacted the seller for support on this issue I received a single response of, we'll get back to you. The instructions for installation were quite easy to read, understand and follow. Everything went into my system as it was intended. On that end they did a marvelous job.
Very good value. I've been working on my own "Build" of Batocera for 3 YEARS now! Picking "All killer, No filler" games, scraping/manually finding and adding art and gameplay videos. Researching themes, trying to get the perfect "hidden gem" theme. Loading that theme with my own music list, filled with songs that have a obvious connection to games Eg. "Play the Game" by Queen, "Pac Man Fever" Buckner and Garcia etc... Creating custom settings for all the "testy" games, to get them running just right. Even creating my own boot video! All while dumping all of my own perfectly legally acquired BIOSeses and keys and firmwares and finally games. These things take time and PASSION! You don't just embark on this scale of project for "Funzies". If time is indeed money, then this is a cheap 12tb drive indeed (sure they only had to do it once and pump out copies...)serious work was done. Oh and by the way..... MY drive is only a 128gig mini USB HAH!
Wow. I've watched the other videos you made on these hard drive ROMsets, but even at $300 this is the first one that's really tempted me to go and buy one. Because of my data cap, it'd take me around 9-10 months to download all this stuff. I'd say getting everything in January (in a 12 TB Seagate drive) is worth the asking price.
You'd probably play more if the games taking the year to download your own collection, loll. Plus there's new English transitions for games every month it feels like.
For me I do prefer to set it up myself, but I do see the the positives even for $300 if they they are using a new hard drive (and not a renewed one). Most ISPs have a stupid data cap (from 1-2TB per month) so those people will have to wait between 6-12 months to complete it the old fashioned way. It's basically a extra $50 premium to not deal with the setup and wait time to fill up the whole drive. For me I set mine up to make sure all the ROMs are in english (originally or patched), or games that don't need me to learn another language to play. However with that said those cracked games may have pitfalls like viruses, because you don't know who's cracks they're using nor where the got them. Also if someone has Steam turned on (even if it's running in the background) when they start one of those cracked games you could get your Steam account banned (or worse). Even though they are cracked most use a phony Steam ID that'll alert the Steam Guard your using a pirated game if Steam is running. That is why if they buy one they need to either make sure Steam is not running, or just delete those pirated games. Oh and scan the drive for viruses when you get it plugged in for the first time..
The drive I linked when discussing the price was a renewed drive. I don't doubt that they're renewed, I personally buy renewed drives all the time, never had an issue. I did a virus scan. It's clean. I've never heard of a steam acct getting banned for playing cracked games! Is that a real thing?
@@TechDweeb It depends on the crack, but I have seen my fair share of people that got banned over the years. There are some in the cracking community that do a good job to prevent it, and those that do not. It's best though to ALWAYS be cautious especially since these drives do come from China even if they're sold on Amazon.
I don't know... Since configuring every known emulator for the Steamdeck, I am pretty convinced that the Steamdeck is the best emulation platform on the face of the planet right now. If that box can emulate PS3, Xbox 360 and PS Vita games perfectly, then I'll concede that it's a decent system. Up to now though, I am in retro gaming heaven with the Steamdeck, since realising that it can emulate OG Xbox games, PSP games, Vita games and PS3 games perfectly. I have NEVER had this much access to so many games before. No matter which system is being used though, I think that it's wonderful that retro games are making a come back.

Curious to know if you had better results than some of the reviewers - e.g. which games worked out of the box? eg. teknoparrot, arcades, or common consoles like genesis, snes, PS1, DC, N64, Gamecube, and more advanced systems like PS3, Switch and XBOX360. They mentioned many games do not work like 3DS, but if you use your own emulator then you can at least get the roms configured yourself to run. ...other systems are like this too. So a lot of figuring out maybe?

I bought a similar drive which came with Launchbox but it didn't come with quite as many of the higher-end titles. It was extremely easy to add/delete/off-load titles though and I still use this drive as a depot today. I honestly don't know why anyone would complain about the price unless they already had all these collections saved; If so, just don't buy it. I noticed you have a lot of mushrooms growing in your mom's basement. I'm no expert, but have you considered letting in some sunlight and using a dehumidifier? Then again, those mushrooms are kind of cute.
I think people just realize that this CAN be made by one's self, and that it would be relatively simple, so they complain without actually thinking through what would really be involved. I just get that kind of complaint often so I wanted to address it in the actual video rather than explain it in every comment 😅 The mushrooms are my friends. They show me truth.
im happy with my own emulation setup on my pc and steam deck, but man the value on that is crazy. lifetime of games ready to be plugged and played for under 300 bucks???
I got mine in the mail today the same day you release this video. I was so stoked! however so far I have had nothing but trouble with it. I've been stuck and can't close the game and the first game I tried Killer Instinct didn't work for me. I have to admit I'm not computer literate so it's probably me .I will try and reinstall later.
It's pretty good if you want a plug and play for a pc or laptop but the problem is how it was configured. Because of how the company basically just downloaded everything off the internet and just threw it into a free game manager, they didn't really optimize the experience and you might find that some game libraries don't even have pictures. I give it 3 out of 5 star rating because like I said, it's good for a plug and play and what you're really paying for is not having to do the work and waste your wifi downloading all these games, but all these games are generally free and easy to download except for new aaa titles. But the fact that I have to configure my pc to run certain libraries of games and that the game managers don't seem polished and optimized, just shows me that they were lazy with it and just downloaded everything to the ssd real quick with very minimal quality control

This thing had a bunch of viruses. I know the anti-virus is probably just throwing false positives because of the software used to crack the PC games on it, but there are viruses that are listed as Trojans so I'm not 100% sure that's the case.
from my experience (i have bought already few gaming hard drive from aliexpress and amazon) I have never had issues with this kind of "viruses" most of the time windows recognise the crack files for pc games as malware, you can sleep on it do not worries, there are not peoples who want to strike your system from china, they just make money with very old hard disk throwing on them hyperspin and retrobat just to justify the price of an old and very used hard disk on sale!!!!
As a person who has no time to download every single game due to work commitments, yeah I am all in for this harddrive solely for the complete sets of games for GameCube, DS, 3DS & other retro systems. I shall keep this one as a master drive & copy games that I will eventually play into smaller SSDs.
That's exactly how I'm planning on using it. This is my new master collection. I needed a giant drive for emulation backup anyways so this is like a short cut :P. Although I plan on deleting the PC games and adding more PS3 stuff.
Seems like a great option. Not sure of the legality but i'm interested ahahaha. Hopefully I could copy over just a couple systems onto a smaller drive too, maybe keep a big "master" drive on my gaming pc
This is the exact same thing I’m gonna do. I got mine off AliExpress for half the price and I’m just gonna copy the ROMs onto another drive that I have and run it that way.
Can’t believe I saw the Acorn BBC model B on this video, that’s pretty specific as those are the computers we used to use at school in the UK, this emulator would be worth buying just for that alone.
I would be curious if you could put this drive into a NAS and have it accessible from multiple computers... would be interesting to just have all of this network accessible.
Here's my stance on the piracy thing th-cam.com/video/yQaTJ_Vjws8/w-d-xo.html TLDW; Don't pirate games you can legally buy, but roms of games you can't buy are fair game.
Question: How difficult is it to export the ROM files from this drive? I cannot be the only one curious. Because, if it’s easy enough, I’ll be placing my affiliate linked Amazon order for one TODAY. 😊
It's VERY easy to do! The roms are in the Arcade/Collections/ directory, there is a folder for each system, and all the rom files are in there and easily accessible.
@@TechDweeb OH! So easier to access than the Kinhank 2TB Batocera drive I purchased a couple years ago? If you know that process, then you know exactly why I asked my original question.
@@mvanalst2003 Since they have it set up to use on Windows the drive partition will be in NTFS so explorer will have no issues accessing it. Sooo agree with you. I value my time at $25 an hour (on the very cheap end because I'm doing something I somewhat enjoy). I couldn't accomplish this task in 10 hours, I wouldn't even come close - and that's without the cost of hardware added to the total. No brainer.
Cool video TechDweeb! I really enjoy your videos! The description in Amazon says you have to install some plug-ins but wasn't mentioned in the video. What are the plug-ins that need to be installed? Just wondering if there's more setup involved to get it running.

I'm definitely loving never having to worry about not having a rom of a game. And also hidden gem hunting for the higher end systems without having to download them one by one!
I know exactly what you mean. Mainstream marketplaces like Amazon tend to crack down more on any emulation gear with any games included with it, in the UK and EU. Often you will see the product come up for a few days and then it'll either have the "No longer available" tag on the product or it's taken off the marketplace and listings altogether. Ebay and AliExpress tend to be better, but there's also a hell of a lot of fake stuff and rip off merchants on them.
And I have one more question, does the hard drive what I have seen comes with a power plug and just wondering is that necessary or does it come in different plugs?
Anyone who says this isn't worth it is smoking some good shit... These are the people who don't spend days trying to source their own roms ... Forget the nicely set up front end do you realize how much time and bandwidth you'd have to invest just to get these rom sets (and good working roms not including the ones that are bad copies). Great video and this one will be on my watch list on Amazon for sure!
I read some user reviews, and it seems like there's lots of bad roms, and games that won't launch. I really wan't one of these myself, I'm not trying to talk it down. It just seems that there are problems that this review didn't encounter unfortunately.
@@lenniskovgaard8278 no I can see that but at least you are introduced to the roms and collections to get good copies (legally of course) if some don't launch or if you find something you know you want to play that won't launch specifically

I do my own emulation setups, so not for me, but I’ll admit it’s pretty cool. I can see making ur own setup a bit too much for some, so it makes sense there. I’d just recommend anyone who gets one to look into the types of games u like and eliminating a lot the rom clutter. Navigating through full collections is a pain.
To the guy that said they can do this in like 5 minutes good luck. You’d need 24tb of free space to do it. 12tb to download the million games it comes with and box art and stuff. Then you need a 12tb drive to setup the frontends and write all the files to. $280 honestly is a great price. I spent $200 on the 5tb one and was happy with that. The time and effort that goes into things like this is insane.
@@__EMULATIONPROS__ tab that's understood. Do you have the time or storage to download 12tb then write the 12tb to a 12tb HDD? A decent 12tb HDD is around $150 brand new. Thats roughly $163 with tax. Whoa. Now that's pretty awesome. Looks like I know what I'm buying for my birthday next week. Thanks Tech Dweeb
Loved this video. I am a kind of tech nerd myself. Talking about pirating if buying is not owning games, pirating is not stealing but sharing games.
How are you kids this morally bankrupt? Emulating is "socially acceptable"; but this whole aspect of making it some virtuous activity is beyond baffling.
@@JgHavertyPirating games is similar to sharing toys, food, or anything for that matter. You capitalistic cold blooded people can't really digest this fact. Emulating and pirating games is not stealing as you don't actually break into studios to steal them. You just modify them to share with others.
I want to thank all those generous Robin hoods branded as pirates by capitalistic minded morons - Codex, FLT, Empress, El Mighuel, Razor and more who had made games accessible to poor people all over the world. 🎉

I can understand the hate towards these devices. Basically you can build one yourself for cheaper but it is very convenient and great for video game history nerds.
Man this is exactly what I need! I'm an old dinosaur that doesn't have the tech savvy or the time to build something like this. I've been watching alot of videos on this but you explained it the best Tech Dweeb! Thank you so much!
if you are not tech savy and you buy this, then use an xbox controller. anything else will cause you a headache to reconfigure.
This video is why I own this Emulator Hardrive. You were 100% on the reasons why someone would want to buy this.
Nice, glad it's working out for ya! I still use mine all the time. It's my main emulation drive :D
Did yours have any malware?
comments saying that anyone can create by himself this collection and the emulators... is like saying that anyone can build his house by laying bricks. xD
They underestimate the amount of time it would take to make one this extensive.
I remember spending an entire summer putting one of these together and it only had a couple terabytes. Although, there are easier ways to do this, now days.
I have been collecting emus for a while but I like the convenience of this one. Definitely a buy. Thanks for the info
That's awesome, glad it worked out for you and thanks for sharing your experience!
Hey I got mine a few days ago and me and my dad were amazed by the collection we had some fun but...... I was messing around with the DS games and I realize I couldn't play them so I extracted the files with winrar instead of seven zip and now I have an error message that I don't know how to fix please help please help please help😢

The error messages for all things by the way not just the DS games please help
@@user-vb8ln5st3z The DS games worked on my setup and should have on yours so this is odd. However since you extracted the files they will not load unless you make changes to the emulator settings and or hyper spin itself. Ideally anything you alter you should make a copy of just in case as you can’t go back once you alter the files. You can try converting back to rar files? It hard to know what’s going on unless I can literally see the setup. These setups are extremely complex so if you’re not familiar with emulation and hyper spin stuff you should never attempt alter anything as literally one missing file can break the entire setup. thank you for listing all the game names and the system on the top of the screen. you are a legend!

This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for! Thank you so much for this awesome video!
Glad it was helpful!
I finally ordered mine yesterday and dude, I am HYPED! I grew up playing so many of these wonderful games.
This blows my mind. Has to be the best value for money rom set I’ve seen. This is going on my wish list
Share it pleaseeee 😢😢
This is the best one I've ever seen. I'm happy to bring it to people's attention.
You'd probably play more if the games taking the year to download your own collection, loll. Plus there's new English transitions for games every month it feels like.

@@coreystill7197 okay - thanks. Hope you get it soon!
@@coreystill7197 kindly tell if bully game was on it?

As a person who has no time to download every single game due to work commitments, yeah I am all in for this harddrive solely for the complete sets of games for GameCube, DS, 3DS & other retro systems. I shall keep this one as a master drive & copy games that I will eventually play into smaller SSDs.

Could it be that the actual products sometimes are in worse condition than the review samples out there? Not pointing fingers, just wondering@@TechDweeb
@@warpathh you need a good enough pc or laptop. At least a decent rtx gpu and Ryzen intel cpu combo. That can run all the older stuff Nintendo cemu and maybe some ps3 and Xbox 360 games. I have i7 12700h 3060 and run Nintendo games on yuzu just fine. And cemu and xenia with red dead redemption. That runs 30 to 60fps depends on the area. Oh yeah btw that is a laptop. I can even workaround playing ps4 console on laptop with a capture card. Its pretty neat. I don't need to carry a monitor for the ps4. My co worker jokingly sad I have a whole playground in my room 😂.
Just wondering if there's more setup involved to get it running.
you have to install 4 things, they are included in the hardrive and it comes with step by step instrucctions on how to install it, it's very simple
thnx for video ! I was looking for exactly this ! :D
Are you able to take the drive out of the case? or is it sealed?
Yup! 13:00. It's a Seagate enterprise ST12000NM0127.
I knew this existed, but daaaaamn, that's a lot of games. I added it to my cart just to dream big. It would be nice just to have the sets. I'm pretty sure if I had one of these in high school I would have avoided all those peskey STDs.
I'm definitely loving never having to worry about not having a rom of a game. And also hidden gem hunting for the higher end systems without having to download them one by one!
Honestly for a 12tb drive this is a good deal. It pays for itself if you consider how long it would take to do it yourself.
Thanks! This is just what the Doctor ordered!
Thank YOU for the tip!
This look cool, but it’s hard to get it in the UK I think
Maybe you can get it directly through the manufacturer website? www.kinhank-retrogame.com/products/hyperspin-attraction-system-12tb-hdd
Thanks for your help
And I have one more question, does the hard drive what I have seen comes with a power plug and just wondering is that necessary or does it come in different plugs?
Anyone who says this isn't worth it is smoking some good shit... These are the people who don't spend days trying to source their own roms ... Forget the nicely set up front end do you realize how much time and bandwidth you'd have to invest just to get these rom sets (and good working roms not including the ones that are bad copies). You've reviewed a good number of these and this is the first one I'm actually thinking about purchasing just for the 12 TB hard drive alone.
That is about 11.8Tb of games you will never play
Like most games in the world
@@kennypowers1945 . Yeah but I don't have most games. You are paying this and you will probably never play 99% of the games on it
@LuisPerez-5 but still it would be worth even if you only play just 1% of the games
@@ardianha5346 not really
I had this same idea back in 2006 when hyperspin was in development i actually made about of the boxs and name art for a lot of the games/ systems back then . I made alot of video intros as well for the gamecube .
Amazing. I hope someone loads these files up to one place.
OMG that would be a month-long download for me 😅
I do my own emulation setups, so not for me, but I’ll admit it’s pretty cool. I can see making ur own setup a bit too much for some, so it makes sense there. I’d just recommend anyone who gets one to look into the types of games u like and eliminating a lot the rom clutter. Navigating through full collections is a pain.
Would love to see the rest of the ps2 and ps3 library added in future, but this is amazing and I definitely want to get it
Just ordered mine, this is gonna save me so much time I hope it has a Rock band/Guitar hero section also. Thanks!
This is awesome my nephew would also love this beside me
Thank you for reviewing this
I just purchased from Amazon.
i am so tempted to buy this...
They just stole this lol it clearly says on a text document on the drive if you bought this your were scammed this is free to download
@@__EMULATIONPROS__ tab that's understood. Do you have the time or storage to download 12tb then write the 12tb to a 12tb HDD? A decent 12tb HDD is around $150 brand new. Thats roughly $163 with tax. I'd have no issue spending $100 for someone to do that mundane shit for me. And 95% of people that this is marketed to would agree.
Thank u for the video. Gonna buy one right now. 🎉
Enjoy!
