    It's so fascinating to see different photographers shoot the same film stock, especially with Lomography. It's a really great film stock and I think it suits your visual style perfectly!

    The „Fat Roll“ is a Lomo problem. Got the same 2 days ago with a Roll of Lomo 800. Before loading the film, just tighten a bit.

    • @kollegekool
      @kollegekool 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its also a problem with all of the more or less modern Fuji MF cameras when they aren't serviced properly / for a long time.

    • @jonrev
      @jonrev 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      One of my Mamiya 6x9 backs did this recently with a roll of CN400, fortunately not loose enough to ruin anything. From my experience it's rare, but def something to watch out for.

  • @areallyrealisticguyd4333
    @areallyrealisticguyd4333 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Lomo 100, 400, and 800 are just Pro-image, ultramax, and Max 800 spooled onto 120 rolls. I think they're all spectacular films in 35mm but even better on 120 with the tighter grain. A bit expensive for being consumer film but the fact that they're available on medium format is amazing

    So Lomo 400 and 800 are Kodak Ultramax. Kodak now only puts the 800 stuff in their disposable cameras but the 400 is the same as Ultramax 400. Lomography gets uncut master rolls from Kodak and then makes 35mm and 120 out of them.

  • @icantcnobodycam

    It’s from the loading I experienced this with Cinestill as well. Love the GA645 , and the photos you made with the LOMO.400/800 . This video made me want to go out and shoot ! 🔥🔥

    Yep, the Lomo 800 in 120 has given me so many problems in cameras that load similarly to 35mm cameras. In my cameras with film back loading (RB/500cm) I haven't had these problems. It probably has to do with the added tension, so definitely tighten it up when loading!

  • @jeremyrowlettmedia
    @jeremyrowlettmedia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Also I developed a roll of lomo 800 just lastnight and I noticed while drying that there's a scratch through the last two frames. I've never experienced it before so I'm not sure if it's from my film back or the tank. Never the less, I love the stock. Definitely recommend it.

    My ga645 did that once when I shot my only roll of Pro400h. I think it was from not tensioning the film enough when loading. I always keep a finger on the roll when loading now to make sure the first wind onto the take up spool is tight and have not had an issue since.

    I really like lomo 800 & 400, but I always have problems with light leaks. It seems like the backing paper isn't 100% light tight at the edges (between spool and the paper). Never had those problems with other stocks. The light leaks look similar to those at 6:38 :/

    Lomo 800 is absolutely NUTS when you push it 1-2 stops, shot at box speed or over exposed by 1.

  • @Memento_HiFi
    @Memento_HiFi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Lomo 800 is really nice, it's rumored to be the same film that Kodak puts in their disposables cameras but no one has really done a scientific test comparing the two yet.

    • @comfypeepo
      @comfypeepo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      check out this video where he compares lomo 800, not sure if it is "scientific" but a pretty good comparison th-cam.com/video/4DyRWIVHyB0/w-d-xo.html

    • @Memento_HiFi
      @Memento_HiFi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@comfypeepo yeah I saw that one Christopher said himself that it wasn't really a scientific comparison. He compared 35mm to 120 and also different lenses render colors differently so the colors were a little different. For a scientific comparison you would need two really similar cameras with identical lenses and you'd have to scan both rolls the same way with the same settings.

  • @melaninxhalide1165
    @melaninxhalide1165 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lomo 400/800 in 120 is notorious for loose backing when you finish rolls which causes the light leaks. It’s definitely not your camera.
    Also, if anyone scans this film on flatbed scanners, this film gets Newton Rings really bad. Just a heads up!

    lomo gets especially bad when spooling onto a roll that held a different film stock previously. seems as though the kodak spool is just slightly narrower than lomo's film is wide, and so you have to really tighten the film on the uptake end.
