im only 18 right now, and ever since i was 10 and started piano lessons, i kept saying to myself "when i grow up, i wanna be like Jordan Rudess." its still true :)
Man they should let Rudess write songs. He has such amazing chord progressions. I mean not that they don't already have great stuff in DT but man when I hear Rudess play alone you hear so many epic moments.
Oh, you can actually hear the choir sound in some of the songs like "Wither" and some parts of "A nightmare to remeber" in the slow middle section. You just have to listen, its there! =)
yes, he is using the nano-key to switch patches. i dont know how you set that up, i only know that the keys of the nano-key are able to send Midi Control Changes.
love everything this guy plays and he did bouzouki which i always asked the Japanese why they didn't put that insturment like all the other instruments clarinet and so forth. please teach me how to connect and what software has bouzouki santour and even middle eastern sounds love it!!!!! I want to blend it into American
I'm pretty sure Jordan Rudess is the only one who can understand what he's saying, and all those people watching are just listening to his awesomeness.
What a great demo,by Jordan. I make ambient music as a hobby,Omnisphere is something I would love to buy My main PC hard drive is quite tight on space, with the other music software programs I have in there How or can I, if I bought Omnisphere, install on my 1tb external drive, and how would Play the software via the external drive or something. Not sure not done anything like this
no probplem installing Omni on an external harddrive. The library in omni is quite big. Between 40-50Gb. But all theese 8000+ sounds can be installed on an external HD without problems! Straigt forward!
I would recommend using SSD externals though. Or even flash disks. Not the conventional RPM disks. It would be hell to load up the library everytime and have to wait ages to load samples.
@dimebagalways Oh yes I know he writes songs. I mean as in writing songs with lyrics not instrumentals. He writes but he doesn't write a Dream Theater song by himself like Kevin Moore did. Kevin Moore wrote phenomenal lyrics as well as music without having to sound all technical all the time. Not taking anything away from Rudess cause he is my fave keyboardist of all time. Just saying he doesn't seem to contribute like Kevin Moore did...now in saying that it may not be Rudess' fault.
@fingerboy18 I actually have to disagree with you because there are (were) 2 main writers in the modern Dream Theater camp...John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy. Look at all the albums after 6 degrees. Those 2 were the primary writers. Not to say Rudess didn't contribute...cause he did...he just didn't solely write like the other 2. Now look back to Images and Words and Awake and you will find the whole band wrote and even lyrics.
im only 18 right now, and ever since i was 10 and started piano lessons, i kept saying to myself "when i grow up, i wanna be like Jordan Rudess." its still true :)
1:54 - 2:49 absolutely epic...

This guy could make some fuckin crazy trance!!
He sends shivvers down my spine everytime without fail.
The clarity in these sounds are incredible! There is a huge amount of potential for this album, and I'm very excited about it.
Stunning ... I want it!
Man they should let Rudess write songs. He has such amazing chord progressions. I mean not that they don't already have great stuff in DT but man when I hear Rudess play alone you hear so many epic moments.

some nice calmer moments here early on makes a refreshing change from this very skilful player. Hyper all the time becomes grating
The truly great sound you hear at 4:22 is 'Glorious Guitars'.

It sounds really like Heroes 3 Castle Theme.
Rudess is the man.

Dude, the absolute first song on the entire album, right in the beginning when everything comes in. 'A Nightmare To Remember'

Those choir voices at the beginning are creepy as hell!!!!!
I could do without that!!!!!

Check out the Super Articulation sounds in Yamaha's Tyros 3 for the Concert Guitar, really very close to the real thing.
Just a shame you can't buy a Rudess with every omnisphere lol.
It's a Roland A-50
I use that sound in almost all my tracks!

OoO! THE BEST VIDEO EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Wow!!
I like the Roland A-50 controller. The best non-weighted MIDI controller in the world. The best one being the A-80 weighted controller. :)
I'm pretty sure Jordan Rudess is the only one who can understand what he's saying, and all those people watching are just listening to his awesomeness.
@themusicman777 - What makes you think he doesn't write songs in DT?
4:24 - 5:29 Does somebody have an idea how the corrosponding song is called?
its omnisphere guitar pad
William Close I know it's omnisphere pad but I want to know tha song theme name.
Debesh Sarangi it's called hourglass by petrucci and rudess

What is that string on 1:57 WOW! Which preset?
5:08 DAT SOUND
Felipe Pjanno song called eve !!!
@themusicman777 He does write songs...
What is the model of the Keyboard? + the thing he use to change the voice (controller)?
What is the primary 88 key controller that Jordan is using?
Any demo you hear from Jordan is unfair though, he could make it sound great without even switching it on.
Not really, listen to his demo on the Korg Kronos live, it's horrible!
1:17 😍
I wanna make his music babies!
I love "hourglass" at 4:22
5:46 - 7:02 OMFG I CAME EVERYWHERE... and i watched it again and came everytime i watched it over and over :D
I love the small guy (or girl ???) at 3:25, who try to play the "air drum" :p
whats the name of the prests that starts at 4:22 ?
My bad; what is the 76 key controller he's using here?
What's that gorgeous guitar-based patch at 4'20? I've got Omnisphere and I can't find it. I WANT THAT SOUND!!!!!!!
yup, adagio expressivo is my favorite....
does anyone know what the two things on the right of the nano-kontrol are?
A Nightmare To Remember. It has choir written all over it haha!
Does anyone know what omnisphere patch he is using at 3:36 ?
those strings 1:57 are crazy gorgeous
What's the name of the choir patch?
Choir Full Vibratto Heavy
how much is omnisphere anyways?
2:12 OMG, goosebumps!!!
he should use the sounds from 8.50 in one of dream theater songs that would be cool!
Oh yes the sound from A Nightmare To Remember.
do you guys use vst sounds (cpu proccesed) or (dsp proccesed)
or
a real synth
Millions of classical pianists.
@RizzoAstronama thats how its done
Don't know the exact preset, but it's a choir.
Someone care to tell what preset is playing at 1:17?
Jordan has as much input as anyone else musically. They are a compromising band without a primary writer, for music that is.
woooooooooooow
@RizzoAstronama Haha..keep on the hush.
@dimebagalways Oh yes I know he writes songs. I mean as in writing songs with lyrics not instrumentals.

7:03 is soo good
You arent buying as much so you can save up?
4:21 Hourglass!!!!!
my god...
some _ucked up staff at the end!
I just want the piano skills.
That´s it, I´m gonna learn to play piano/keyboard. It´s settled.
@QuantikMusic: Best. Comment. Ever. :-)
