I agree with his comment about instruments. I know that computers are capable of doing the same things but they're not as portable or as much fun.

i dont know why people always debating that this board better than the others. it depends on your need. i have a chanche buying the kronos 2 years ago but I didn't go for it. i bought a casio px-5s which is ky main stage piano til now. i need a workstation/synth to match with my casio, i went to all the motif series but tue user interface are not user friendly and hard to navigate. i tried all the fantom series and same thing its not user friendly. i tried all the triton series i still have my triton extreme now,. And planning to sell it. i bought the kronos today over the montage even the montage was just recently released and same price range, because after all the brands and models i tried, still korg is easier to navigate, sequence, and create/edit sounds.. this is on my own opinion. i sold more than 50 keyboards/workstations for the past two years i keep on cycling my stuffs. Now my mainboard is the casio px-5s and a kronos 2. For live and studio purposes. but i always want the motif sounds so im keeping my motif rack, also i have an integra 7 to have a roland sounds. Again, all keyboard has pros and cons.. so if which one will make you happy then go for it. 🎹✌🏿️👌

Casio PX-5S is an amazing Piano and Casio hasn't gotten the kudos it deserves because people think "cheap casio" not so. I have a PX-160 and it's a solid Piano, Casio has risen up to professional play. I got the Korg Kross because I needed a workstation. I agree with you on learning curve, Korg's workflow logic is odd, as compared to Roland and others.

Those are pretty different boards. The PA800 is more of an arranger workstation (for automatic accompaniment) and the Korg M3 is a music production workstation (for producing your own music from scratch). Both are excellent, professional quality keyboards…they are just good for different things.

Can I trade all my Korg Keyboards for a fraction of Jordan's chops?? :-) What an amazing keyboardist and he is by far the bet keyboardist at imitating how a guitarist plays and the sounds so that sometime it is hard to tell who is doing what on guitar sounds. WOW!

  • @djlobb

on the last combination demonstration the drums were cutting out as if it was reaching it's max polyphony? I think Jordan's expertise and insane skills is too much for that combi which already has a lot going on.

    Hi,
I'm actually a bassist and recording engineer, and I use my M50 in my recording studio. I don't use it to play live, but if I did, I'd use Yamaha MSR250 powered speakers for monitors. You could also check out the new Yamaha DXR series for even better sound quality. Also, Roland KC350 and KC550 keyboard amps are great. Thanks for watching!

Rudess, an incredible keyboard player putting his mark on todays rock`n roll. A great sound engineer too! The Kronos is an incredible keyboard and tool, contribuiting to both as well. I bought my Kronos in 2014 and I cant get enough of it. There are no limits. It still surprises me every day, and it inspires me to do New and unexpekted things on my other keyboards as well . One of these Keyboards is a vintage Roland system 700 LAB series modular synth. This is a synth built up with the same essensial modules used in the big beast system 700. But the LAB series comes in only one portable cabinet. It sounds awasome together with the Kronos. If somebody wish to hear sounds from these two Keyboards, they can join this link: th-cam.com/video/28NiOw5ZAgE/w-d-xo.htmlm47s

Using korg keyboards for years with most other brand of keyboards and I can`t compare any other brand to the korg, but there is just one thing I always ask and is that they never seems to have that natural Grand Piano and Rhodes "MUSICICIANS" crave and would love to have in a keyboard. I remember the N1 had a nice Grand Piano but after that nothing close but now I am thanking God Korg finally came out with a lovely Grand Piano which was the only down fall, but now Korg pulled it off thanks korg.

Roland Fantom G8 actually... Jordan is like the biggest thing in keyboard business at the moment so almost every company wants him... He is a Korg guy mostly, but he also uses roland, apple, Haken, Zen Riffer and stuff like that when it comes to hardware and with software he uses tons of different stuff like Spectrasonics, Native Instruments and obviously Wizdom music ;)

    Hello Gents,
Could you pls advice if it is possible to record a MIC connected to Kronos on Cubase/Melodyne without additional sound card via USB Cable, save it on PC and then send the recorded & corrected vocal by Melodyne to Kronos and record on Cubase with Kronos X Rever Effects?

  • @synastikki

depends on what type of an instrument we're talking here... orchestral instruments are very often either from virtual instruments or keyboards instead of real orchestras for example... but if you're talking about virtual instruments vs. hardware keyboard-instruments then it very much depends on the player... some like to use software some hardware...

Is Rudess still alive, why don't we hear from him anymore? Korg just sold me a bunch of new sounds for 2018, the KRONOS 2 is still the most modern and incredible synth out there, i've had it for years and barely touched the surface of what this baby can do! Just when I think i understand how it works, I get a wonderful surprise at how it can also do much, much more. Is there no limit to what this monster is capable of, wow! Jorden where are you? :)

Quite different and very complimentary - in plain speak I want both! Korg seem to be very good at broad expansive sounds and the pianos in the Kronos are just awesome - both Grand Pianos and Electric ones. The JP-80 sounds great at more solo type instruments and I do like some of its analog pads. Only problems I have with the Roland are there is some very obvious aliasing going on in higher notes on some sounds and its architecture is perverse.

@Niekpas1 The M50 is an incredible instrument. I was in the same boat and I went on a limb and purchased the M50. Its got me so enticed that my practice regime has gone from an hour a day to 5 and 6 hours a day! I recommend the M50 to anyone who has a passion for ANY kind, or style, of music.

Ha! ALWAYS impressive. I can't even use the word 'incredible', because I believe there's nothing Jordan Rudess can't do with a keyboard, except maybe establish World Peace -- and that would only be because not enough people were listening. ; ]

I know the Korg Kronos is one great synthesizer and it's exactly that I want to protest about. It's a synth for christ's sake, not a piano! Why care for piano, organ or guitar sounds on a fantastic synth that can produce practically *any* sound? I'm MUCH MUCH more interested in how the sound synthesis works in the different modules in it. Does it offer something new, original and powerful? If you can show me that then maybe I'll buy a Kronos, not because it can sound like a booooring piano.

Wow. Incredible piece; what a talent. I just got the Kronos and it is definitely a game changer for composition. It seems to me there is a "cognitive window of opportunity" when creating that quickly closes if you cannot achieve some timely results. I have worked in studios with computer DAWs and VST instruments and it seems to me there is more of a lag time between inspiration and fruition. Workstations are great composing tools and the Kronos is the best I have used. Karma takes some getting used to, but that in and of itself is a powerful assistant.
