The Rite Of Passage off of our new album DOES feature a Bebot solo on it. It happens right after the regular (not too regular) keyboard solo..... Good ears there people!! JR
Yeah- It is amazing how really young kids totally love Bebot! I showed it to my niece, who is 2 earlier today and she thought the robot was going to sleep when she stopped jamming. So there ya go. from 2 to 52 and upward to 102. This is a great program!
You're right it blows my mind, I'm getting a lot of creative juices out of it. Don't forget to use the vertical direction, it gives you incredibly expressive notes.
Jordan.....awesome to see you making this video! I've been using Bebot for about 3 weeks now, and creating a library of patches...it truly is amazing!!! Thanks for the great vid!
Amazing. I've had Bebot on my phone since the iPhone 3G and I always download it with new iPhones. It's fun to mess around with, but I have a five year old now that I've introduced to Bebot! Thanks for this video 😁
I cannot get over how awesome this is. I bought the app on my sister's iPhone and played a pretty awesome sounding intro to Lines in the Sand. I bet he'll use it for that song as well as others. It sounded amazing.
GREAT presentation - beautifully explains the app's capabilities. The one thing to clarify is that when Jordan says it plays all the diatonic notes, you can hear that it actually plays the chromatic notes, not just the diatonic ones. Or more succinctly, it plays all the notes, not just the major scale. Again, a GREAT presentation! (Gotta' run - I'm DL'ing Bebot ASAP)
Huge thanks Jordan! I watched the first couple of minutes of this then went and bought it, got totally confused... Now having watched the whole video with you explaining everything I have a lot more control over what I'm doing with Bebot. Thanks for the heads up JR!
A great demo for a great product! Your explanation made the autotuning and related features simple to understand and use - and move it up a notch as a seriously useful synth. My friends 4 and 2 year old love it - the 4 year old said "It makes a neat sound if you kiss the screen!" Not sure I recommend that but I don't know any other iphone app that is as much fun from 2++
Rest in Peace dear Richard Lainhart. You did not only made awesome musical experiments, but also influenced Jordan Rudess a lot and pushed his possibilities on a musical level so much further, that the whole DT community is actually influenced by your know how and inspirations. Thank you for everything!
Wow I'm going to buy this for sure now. Thank you SO much Jordan for demonstrating how amazing Bebot is! I wouldn't have known what all the settings can do because I am not knowledgeble about all that stuff. I look forward to playing around with Bebot Synth!
you won't believe the power of this until you try it yourself...The other day I connected my iPod Touch to a PA system of a karaoke when it was over....the 5.1 speaker system gave it so much power....It actually feels and plays like a full grown synthesizer that would cost 1000x more than Bebot....I am a guitar player and I simply love playing with my Bebot from time to time:)

He uses it to play teh second part of the A Rite of Passage solo...I've seen it...very creative!!!
Jordan's evocative performance more or less dragged me by my lapels into the app store where I promptly bought it. Then my wife heard it and she got it.
Saw Dream Theater in ATL and noticed Rudess was playing an iPhone (iPod Touch?) above his keyboard. So he's definitely incorporated this into his live performance!
@Jhd0358 Also, without having to setting it to the home screen, you can just double click the home button and slide the mini menu that comes up to the left, where you can control your music (this works in any app). I have the 4th generation though, so I don't know if it works on the other generations.
I bought Bebot because of how much my four-year-olds liked Theremini on the Palm platform--but I had no idea it was such a capable little synth. Thanks for the explanation. Between this and Beatmaker, I'm thinking I could be using my subway time a little differently...
I find it awesome that a solo on such a cold and theatrical prog metal piece like A Rite Of Passage is performed on a bloody iPhone app with a FUNKY LITTLE ROBOT AND TRIPPY LIGHT EFFECTS ! \o/
Yes - I'm hard pressed to think of other instruments that combine this much fun and an interface that little kids can use to start making their own music (maybe a drum?). And as you show, there's not much of an upside limit. Bebot deserves to be an outrageous success for that reason alone.
Extremely cute and cool. Perhaps there could be a 'professional' version... obviously on a bigger/longer iPhone-esque screen. Just thinking of Jordan's 'knee-board' adaptation. Hey, maybe even like a slide guitar-like fretboard on legs! Keep up the good work!
My brother got this app from iTunes Store on his iPod Touch 3G . He downloaded that after watching this video by Jordan. It's a good application, but often i set scales because I'm a keyboard player (not as good as Jordan or as any previous Dream Theater keyboardist XD) and my brother is a guitarist.
Its an iPhone application. And its amplified by a cable going to an amplified... Or probably Jordan has it connected to the computer or some other stuff. BUt basically its connected to the amplifier.
Hey Guys and Gals-
So glad to turn you on to this.
Bebot is awesome and only gonna get better.
Mark my words! Here comes the future!!
The Rite Of Passage off of our new album DOES feature a Bebot solo on it. It happens right after the regular (not too regular) keyboard solo..... Good ears there people!!
JR
2021 and Bebot still lives on my long retired iPhone 3GS and my current iPhone XS!
Yeah- It is amazing how really young kids totally love Bebot! I showed it to my niece, who is 2 earlier today and she thought the robot was going to sleep when she stopped jamming.
So there ya go. from 2 to 52 and upward to 102. This is a great program!
Ahh yes the mysterious octave thing!!
Well- stay tuned to the Bebot channel for all these updates and more!!

Bebot is amazing, I've been dabbling with it for a month now and have enjoyed hours of cool music and sounds from it :)
You're right it blows my mind, I'm getting a lot of creative juices out of it. Don't forget to use the vertical direction, it gives you incredibly expressive notes.
Amazing, I saw JR last night in Phily and of course DT were amazing, but when he brought this out I was blown away.
Jordan.....awesome to see you making this video! I've been using Bebot for about 3 weeks now, and creating a library of patches...it truly is amazing!!! Thanks for the great vid!

I saw you rock this on stage in Toronto - amazing
Huge thanks Jordan! I watched the first couple of minutes of this then went and bought it, got totally confused... Now having watched the whole video with you explaining everything I have a lot more control over what I'm doing with Bebot. Thanks for the heads up JR!

Jordan Rudess slayed with this in Sydney last month

this has been one of my favorite apps, im always doodling with it while working. This guy is the master though!!!
what an amazing app - I can see young kids getting into music experimentation with this.
Sweet the pulse sound sounds like that thing Chick Corea used on that record My Spanish Heart!!!
I just bought this today and mine has the new features!
I am really loving the Bebot feature in ARoP Jordan! Unbelievable cool! Just like your lavalamp =]
wow, great, I just bought it, thanks for the review Jordan and see you on tour and on your diary :)
I never realised the touchy little thing he had when I saw them was an iPhone, that's pretty damn sweet, I'm well buying this.
It blew his mind so much, it is on the new DT record.
you won't believe the power of this until you try it yourself...The other day I connected my iPod Touch to a PA system of a karaoke when it was over....the 5.1 speaker system gave it so much power....It actually feels and plays like a full grown synthesizer that would cost 1000x more than Bebot....I am a guitar player and I simply love playing with my Bebot from time to time:)

This is great. Just bought the app. Thanks for the vid!
Saw Dream Theater in ATL and noticed Rudess was playing an iPhone (iPod Touch?) above his keyboard. So he's definitely incorporated this into his live performance!
Very informative, full review of this app! Thank you! Now if you'll excuse me, I must download bebot to my iPhone immediately!
me too! I think it's great!
@Jhd0358 Also, without having to setting it to the home screen, you can just double click the home button and slide the mini menu that comes up to the left, where you can control your music (this works in any app). Friendly singing robot and trippy light effects. WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED GET AN iPHONE
by the end of this video i'd bought bebot off the app store, awesome video even better app, thank you.
This is quite amazing.
It would be nice to have the interface (touch sensitive device) as a generic midi controller for other devices.
I find it awesome that a solo on such a cold and theatrical prog metal piece like A Rite Of Passage is performed on a bloody iPhone app with a FUNKY LITTLE ROBOT AND TRIPPY LIGHT EFFECTS ! \o/
AMAZING!
It would be great to see Jordan Rudess playing the Theremin which appears in the video
Yes - I'm hard pressed to think of other instruments that combine this much fun and an interface that little kids can use to start making their own music (maybe a drum?). And as you show, there's not much of an upside limit. Bebot deserves to be an outrageous success for that reason alone.
OMG. NO WAY. hahaha Jordan is amazing.
was practicing the bebot on iPad.. with the bigger touch pad, the possibilties multiply !!
woah!, another great example of a well developed app on the iPhone!
AWESOME
He makes playing on the iPhone look so easy
exactly....if you like me bought the special package you can isolate the solo track and hear it clearly.....sounds amazing :-P

apple should pay him for this great advertizing,, now i really want an iphone badly
The overdrive in the theremin is the sound they used in Half Life for the walkers :)
Could you please make a short video of the settings you used for that! thanks
Great demo!
oh god, getting this
cute apps on iphone and ipad, must HAVE:))
3:36 sounds like the sound they use in was it a Rite of Passage or a Nightmare to Remember, don't you think?
I just got this and it is the best app
My brother got this app from iTunes Store on his iPod Touch 3G .
He downloaded that after watching this video by Jordan. It's a good application, but often i set scales because I'm a keyboard player (not as good as Jordan or as any previous Dream Theater keyboardist XD) and my brother is a guitarist.
If DT doesn't work out, I'm sure Jordan could get hired as an Apple Genius.
this is only 1.99$ is really cool. This guy can do some awesome things with it DT rocks!!
Saw him using this last night, only with the Rudess Wizard guy - ME WANT!
INSANE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm actually about to buy iPod Touch just because of this app. AWESOME SHIT!
Its an iPhone application.
And its amplified by a cable going to an amplified...

Hello is amazing, please can i know the setting up of bebop app that you used in the start music video??? many tks
I was guessing that it was some sort of analog synth with a ring modulator. I was wrong!
