    Being left handed I had problems playing piano and keyboard. The fingers of my right hand were really slow in comparison to the left hand's. JR's techniques kinda cured me :D

    I like sound of a metronome and it also makes me calm, but classic metronome, this sound would get me crazy :)

    I think that those exercises are from one book of Cherny finger exercises thats the name i think... :D:D So rudess got some classic music influences...thats awesome combining classic with new music you create something powerfull like dream theater's music...

    So they play to a click track live eh? I kinda figured, their shit is so technical....and it's seriously amazing to see him and John on sync...especially in some of the more complicated songs.

    @rizz7604 I know u write your comment 5 months ago, but I knew that someone was going to say something about how he move his fingers or dont use the wrist or etc. when I watched this video. If u watch his other videos he explains all that u´re looking in the "traditional way". And I need to tell u that Jordan studied at JULLIARD and he plays in a little band called DREAM THEATER.

    Ah, but nowhere in there did I actually tell him how to play piano! I'm just saying his is an approach that works for him and probably only him. Anyone else trying to play with "only their fingers" would probably not only not be nearly as good, but would suffer massive playing injuries as well, something which JR seems to be immune to!

  • @rizz7604
    @rizz7604 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @StreamOfMetal I'm aware. The technique seems to work well for him...probably not for most other people though.

  • @rizz7604
    @rizz7604 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    By the way, my apologies if you thought I was dissing him...obviously he's a massively talented player, it's just that his playing technique is very anti-traditional, that's all.

    Great teaching technique. Could also substitute a drum machine with a groove to add interest. Presented so you can understand it! A couple of good riff ideas, too, especially at 8:00. Must be nice to be able to do this for a living.

    I'm sure Jordan is like Chuck Norris. While he plays a song, if he decides the beat must slow down, the metronome will slow down

    He developed this technique because he is playing keybords most of the time.... most of the sounds won't be performed right if the wrist is involved, 'cause you'll tire your entire body if doing so for 5 mins..... he usually does play for about 2-3 hrs in a concert... ah! i'm a keyboardist myself (1,000,000,000 Kms behind Rudess!!!)
