As a teenager and until one week ago, I used to be addicted to dumping dopamine in my system to experience accessible happiness. The techniques that I used to engage in were extremely harmful to the brain. My attention span wasn't stable and today as a university student, a maintained attention span is a significant characteristic that one should acquire, my dopamine addiction used to make me distant from informative content. I used to be hooked on TikTok and would spend hours watching 10-second videos back to back to the point it ruined my interests. However, an hour ago, I decided to randomly click on this video just out of curiosity from the title. I desperately wanted to heal my mind in order to succeed in life, and let me tell you that this one-hour podcast was worth years of my future. The techniques listed are extremely critical in maintaining a healthy brain and thus a positive mind. Thank you for this guideline and I truly believe that I am from now on, a healed brain.

"Live each DAY based on clearly defined values, purpose and goals."
    Everyday healing:
Say to myself (first thing!) in the morning:
Today is going to be a great day.
    Ask myself:
Is this good for my brain?
Is this bad for my brain?
Write down feelings (of stress, anxiety, anger) and ask myself: is it true?
Write the opposite and ask myself: is it true?
    Tell myself @ night:
(Prayer +) What went well today?

I love what Dr. Amen shared about the butterlies/hummingbirds and noticing the way it feels to hold his wife's hand. Beautiful! Being present in the moment. So good. I started keeping a gratitude journal at night, and it is transformative. I love what he said about habits and the idea of going on a "treasure hunt" each night to notice the good micro-moments of your day. I have also heard the analogy of collecting "flowers" (goodness you notice) throughout your day, and by the end, you have a bouquet! Really good stuff in this interview! Deep diaphragmatic breathing! Gotta do that more! (especially in the midst of stressful day)
Love all these nuggets of wisdom. Killing the ANTS (heard him talk about that before) - writing down the negative thought and then asking "Is this true?" then asking if the opposite is true... I want to live in truth! The truth sets me free!

This CD has three separate relaxation/meditation sessions on it th-cam.com/users/postUgkxzpa8CIfZcihW4Z0F_ja0QF3W9KIatrsq guided by a very pleasant and direct male voice. Unlike so many other products of its type, this CD does not have bad synthesizer music, does not feature a phony or affected style of narration, and does not make any bogus claims to be subliminal or to re-train the brain or any of that balderdash. What you get is 1. a guided meditation for getting into a pleasantly relaxed state of body awareness while taking a stroll (superb for those easing back into a fitness routine slowly after an illness or injury) 2. A nice long breath-awareness relaxation session that if followed diligently can put you into very deep states of full-body relaxation and mental calmness, and 3. a buddhist-inspired meditation session designed to help you develop and maintain feelings of loving kindness toward not just yourself and your friends, but toward people you don't even like. The CD makes no claims to be designed for advanced meditators or for buddhists or hindus/yoga practitioners looking for very deep and esoteric stuff. It is geared more toward the average person who just wants to develop the habit of relaxation and stress relief through natural, healthy means. him, if you happen to be reading this, keep up the good work fella, and I love your accent. I would also like to note that I have never fallen asleep while listening to this product. I would like to kindly suggest to the reviewer who said this CD makes him fall asleep, that he might want to get checked to see if he has a sleep disorder, or if he is simply not setting aside ample time for restful sleep at night. A healthy person getting adequate rest at night should be able to go into deep states of mental relaxation without dozing off, if not all the time, then most of the time.

I've done plenty of research, I said he was the only FAMOUS doctor I've come across who doesn't reach for the prescription pad before trying multiple options besides stimulants or pharmaceutic drugs. I mean the doctor from Love Lines Dr. Drew isn't all about pushing pharmaceutic options as well but IN MY OPINION Dr. Amen goes the holistic approach AND he uses the latest technology. It's the best of both worlds, again in my opinion. Maybe before trying to correct someone you should reread their comment. Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one. Doctors here used to shrug me off when I say I eat this or I drink that because my mom said it helps and I would list what it helps with. Many doctors shrugged me off and I thought some of what I learned was just not good advice. So, now my mom too is going to have her moment telling me that I should have listened to her all along.

Wow, about Saffron. I have a friend from Iran, once I was his teacher. He married a Dutch woman. In his native country he was fed saffron every week, almost daily. But now in the Netherlands he mainly eats Dutch cuisine. In recent years, my friend has been regularly depressed, while he was once a very cheerful person with a big smile on his face. I will tell him about the healing properties of saffron as soon as possible.❤👌🏻

the Dutch society can depress you very quickly! first the weather is terrible then Dutch are extremely anti social ! if your friend move to a sunny place it will make a huge difference! sun sun sun is all what we need sometimes to cheer up! the brain needs it ! am not sure it is just the saffron !

@@petitparis9836 I'm not agree with the anti social aspect. Maybe in the west of the Netherlands in the big cities where people live crammed together. But that is in almost every big city in the world. I'm a Dutch resident and I don't notice the anti-social aspect here. But I live in a rural area, far away from the busy cities. The Dutch are generally direct and do not talk around things. But I wouldn't call that anti-social. Sorry that you have such a negative image of Dutch people in general.

@@catlover8034 oh well i know NL very well ! your neighbors after years would hardly say hello or communicate with you unless for their dhl package that was delivered at your house where they would come smiling to pick up! they are not friendly at all you do not jump into dutch crowed just as you would do in Italy, France , Spain Hungary etc if you do not speak their language they take it painfully and would continue to converse in dutch when you answer in english ! they are totally rude in the name of directness of dutch people ! of course there are exceptions of people but in general dutch tend to mingle among them , never invite you in their house for dinner etc so yes i disagree with you, but good for you in the country side where you live people were kind to you but that is not the thinking of majority foreigners living there ! expat foreigners tend to stay together so your experience is rather unique ! your friend married to Dutch women as an iranian could tell you more ! I have a spanish friend married to a dutch but it ended up in a divorce cause he could not connect within her family ! they are terrible communicators in their own yard !

When you eat junk food it feels good in the moment but it doesn't take long before you feel yuke... As you said at the beginning of when you exercise it doesn't feel good but the long term impact on your body is so good for you. So the moral of the story is" You can pay a huge price's for Conveniences " love the podcast, thank you both so much 👍😉🇮🇪☘️Eire

I was raised by an unhappy mom and a drug addict dad and short fuse dad, and I now find it so hard to be happy. It takes me a lot of daily mental work to get me to a nice happy level. Thank you Dr. Amen ❤

Wow! Talk about a game-changer conversation. Thank you, Jay, for focusing a few minutes on Dr. Amen's newest book. I will be reading it on my next flight. That cover will be a natural conversation starter, and a great way to keep spreading the wisdom of Dr. Amen's information and mission. I have followed Dr. Amen since he talked about the penquin in his office on a PBS special, and he, like you, is a gift to this world.

I think it’s so important what he said about weed and how it negatively impacts the brain. With it being legalized everywhere it’s almost being rebranded as this harmless thing which isn’t the reality. People deserve to know the truth about how something will harm their brain

Hi, I am so grateful to have teachings like this. Thank you for all of the good that you do by spreading your wisdom. I have a traumatic brain injury that happened in 2020. And I have spent every waling minute doing my best to heal my brain. The strangest thing is that I am not the same person I was before I fractured my skull, and I am too scared to go to the doctor and request mri scans because I dont want to know how bad the damage is. But I also feel that nobody who knew me before the injury understands that. I did end up unemployed and homeless because of my brain injury, and to me that is such a dark manifestation of human nature, everybody turned on me. The single most miraculous thing that happened though, is that I died, and during that time I had an encounter with God and His angels, and that has provided me with so much wisdom and knowledge on how to be a better person.
