I think the reason for a moving health bar is to make sure it is visible at all times when the weather changes. The color saturation is significantly different and it is hard to find a suitable color fit for every scenario. A wiggly health bar is definitely easier to notice at a glance.
Kinda appreciate wiggling hp bar tbh, I oftenly too lock in on the fight and forget to look at my hp when it got away chipped little by little, having it wiggling a bit will catch my attention from time to time.
i mean, another trick you could do to make it always visible is just give it a thicker hard outline to contrast against. I'd have to actually play to see how distracting the wiggly bar is while trying to lock in, though looking at it, having the bar get super wiggly when it gets low is distracting in a good way it seems
@@Much_Ado Wuthering Waves did something similar and I never found the UI elements too distracting. This one seems even more toned down so I doubt it'll be bad unless that low health wiggle is majorly in the way for the heroics users out there.
It's also funny that Max mentions the game feels guiding lands like. As people were speculating that guiding lands was done as a test by having a large map with multiple biomes and a vast amount of monsters to hunt.
My biggest problems with the Guiding Lands were twofold: the arbitrary region leveling system that felt unfun and the fact that you had too many resources by the time you had access to it. Wilds doesn't seem to have any of the problems the Guiding Lands were heavily criticized for.
@@mwbwyatt They claim each "area" is 2 or 3 times bigger than the areas of World. I believe there are already 3 areas confirmed and obviously there will be more than that. So given there were 7 roamable maps in world, we basically have all of world as one map just from the 3 confirmed areas.

23:18 actually I'm pretty sure Max just accidentally did the counter move. Since the monster was doing an attack at the same time he did Rising Slash which is the attack if you land you counter.
It's what is called an "offset attack". Some weapons have a big move that when it hits while a monster is attacking it counters them and sends them reeling back
I saw people complaining a LOT about the healthbar, but I think what they're going for, is a healthbar that draws some attention. The lower your HP, the more the bar will wiggle and we tend to look at things that are moving, so that helps out people that sometimes get too immersed and forget about their hp bars. Another thing is, this game has very vibrant colors and the weather change plays a big part into that. So making a healthbar like that, I think is really smart. And plus, it ain't that bad c'mon now, to me it actually looks pretty good :D

That's the "running away from monster" animation signaling that you can superman dive. Definitely looks like the hunter is running for their lives, instead of doing a goofy ahh run
The armor design feels like they're starting from Tri G-Rank styling from the start and going from there. I think the Master rank gear is going to be insane.

12:50 I can understand the decision to streamline gathering. Classic Monster Hunter really makes you wait for the action, and some players didn't have that patience. It made those big monster moments super rewarding though.

I feel like i wasn't super into Doshaguma at first but the more i see it the more i can appreciate the technical achievement here for the series, this monster has loads of dynamic fur and has visible fat and muscles that shift on its body, it feels very physical and realistic. I cant wait to see these techniques applied to older monsters.
All this Wilds footage got me to play World again. Sucks to not have all these new features and QoL though... I don't think i can go back after Wilds comes out 😅
I couldn't go back to GenU after World because of all the improvements World had. Then Rise came out, and I'm one of the seemingly few oddballs that preferred the faster paced arcadey feel of Rise so I didn't really wanna go back to World after that. Max mentioned it early on in the video, but this does seem to be a best of both worlds kinda deal to me, so I really will never be able to go back to World again after this drops.
Why? The old games are still just as good as ever, especially 4U and GU. The only game that's aged poorly imo is the first one with its weird joystick combat and busted A.I.
The wounding system of this game may be one of my favorite features. I mean it makes sense that hitting the same spot over and over would make it weaker, and the way they show it is just so cool
They usually wait until 1-2 months before release so the quality of the product is more polished. This is a very early build of the game, I think they’re testing the waters right now before the put out a demo
Looks amazing and one of the things that is always thrown in the back when people talk about this game is the sound design, not sure why, because it is out of this world. Every creature has this distinct feel to them and you can actually feel where the growls, howls and screams are coming from, it's unreal!!
28:30 I don't agree that this is a hard border because of the demo version, but rather it is the real border of the map when it releases. I think it is sensible to make another map for that iconic stone structure, perhaps for a final stage. Imagine if it's included? that's the first thing to check out when you enter the game and no more secrets remain for this game. I wouldn't do that and I want to believe Capcom is not doing that.
That attack around 23:20 minutes isnt a focus attack, its an offset attack + follow up. specific weapon attacks if timed correctly against a monster attack can do that

Monster hunter wilds is basically guiding lands but enhanced full game. And I like it very much aleready. Just imagine, but I guess it could happen in a DLC, if they add the ancient biomes of monster hunter wold and iceborne but connected like wilds.
It’s Dragons Dogma 2+ Monster Hunter world. I have been paying close attention to the new released gameplay for this game and I am more than stoked for this game in February.
This game is going to take 10,000 hours of my life when it drops. I can not wait. I really hope it gets a 60fps mode on console though. I'd get it on PC but all my friends are on PS5.
When you say it’s all open world and like the guiding lands in Iceborne… are all the biomes combined into 1 map? Is the main camp or town enterable w/o any loading screen? Insane if true!
After playing Worlds and Rise and then finally watching all the trailers and gameplay it really feels like this is the elden ring scope of Monster Hunter series plus this is definitely Capcom's biggest project to date. It even feels like alot of the resources that should have went to DD2 was shifted to this and it makes sense after seeing your gameplay. The ecology of the world is insane and ambitious this game is definitely gonna push the RE engine to its limit
This looks so damn good. I hope they add some bonuses or rewards to exploration, I loved exploring the levels in MH World, MH Rise too, but it didn't feel as immersive. And big epic boss battles like Kulve Taroth would be amazing to experience again.
i think the reason hp bar wigling is to fix that you don't have to look at top left anymore just focus at the monster, if it wigling so wild that mean you at low hp condition, because in mhw everytime you use potion. i always looking at top left to make sure the hp enoug, now you can heal without any problem to look away from monster

Good observation. Because max was surmising it was a Focus Attack but you can see he’s not in focus mode when that knockdown happens 🤔

28:30 I don't agree that this is a hard border because of the demo version, but rather it is the real border of the map when it releases. I think it is sensible to make another map for that iconic stone structure, perhaps for a final stage. Imagine if it's included? that's the first thing to check out when you enter the game and no more secrets remain for this game. I wouldn't do that and I want to believe Capcom is not doing that.

That attack around 23:20 minutes isnt a focus attack, its an offset attack + follow up. specific weapon attacks if timed correctly against a monster attack can do that

Monster hunter wilds is basically guiding lands but enhanced full game. And I like it very much aleready. Just imagine, but I guess it could happen in a DLC, if they add the ancient biomes of monster hunter wold and iceborne but connected like wilds.
I'm hoping for this too. I love the desert but I really want the coral highlands to make a return. It was my favorite biome from World.

After playing Worlds and Rise and then finally watching all the trailers and gameplay it really feels like this is the elden ring scope of Monster Hunter series plus this is definitely Capcom's biggest project to date. It even feels like alot of the resources that should have went to DD2 was shifted to this and it makes sense after seeing your gameplay. The ecology of the world is insane and ambitious this game is definitely gonna push the RE engine to its limit

This looks so damn good. I hope they add some bonuses or rewards to exploration, I loved exploring the levels in MH World, MH Rise too, but it didn't feel as immersive. And big epic boss battles like Kulve Taroth would be amazing to experience again.

i think the reason hp bar wigling is to fix that you don't have to look at top left anymore just focus at the monster, if it wigling so wild that mean you at low hp condition, because in mhw everytime you use potion. i always looking at top left to make sure the hp enoug, now you can heal without any problem to look away from monster
25:13 I think they mentioned in their stream that you can talk to the cat next to the tent with the hammer icon to rebuild it
