Super impressed with the Play, so much so, I'm selling the NAV 6 before it gathers too much dust in the draw. Had no problems with connections, and if MRA sorted out the directions tile on android auto it would be perfect. As is, I switch on voice directions for important navigation and typically use Gmaps for commuting. Having an older non TFT BMW has modernised my dash.
Hi, thank you for your informative report, as always ......on the mark. I saw your video regarding setting "Automations" on the Carpuride in order to pair the Iphone to the TFT, whereby, the automation ensured that the TFT did not take over the audio connection, Is this possible with the Chigee?
Good video ! but I prity sure it has no GPS chip in, it comes from the mobile phone ? (I would love to be proved wrong as this is the only reson I wouldn't buy one 😞
The only reason I think/thought it does is my phone wasn’t connected to the unit and yet what looks like the GPS symbol went blue but I’ll check that. My Carpuride doesn’t have one but I’ve never had GPS issues.
Hey so I’m pretty sure it does have a GPS chip inside as I just checked with my phone switched off and the unit has a GPS section in the Features menu and after a few minutes it showed it had a Fine satellite signal and was connected to 10 satellites and that information could only be available from the unit itself.
Whilst the unit looks good, my issue is the available navigation apps and Android Auto in general. Carplay tends to integrate better with the apps. I have been using AA in Spain, initially with MyRoute App which was a terrible experience, it crashed constantly and has little on screen functionality (cant even zoom the map). Google works well and is great for simple A to B but not great for touring. I just switched to Sygic and that's a bit better but again I find myself having to stop fairly regularly to deal with issues. Coupled with the increased battery usage, I think I will stick with my dedicated Nav for the time being. If the Chigee has a dedicated GPS built in then that is a huge advantage.
@@stuipooey1 yeah I have to say it’s disappointing that support for AA is lacking for apps such as MRA and Calimoto. I used to have issues with MRA but they seem to have fixed these but I still hear AA has issues which is a shame :(
It can yeah, the BMW cradle is lockable with the bike key, in fact it’s actually impossible to insert the unit without sliding the pin across and locking with the key :)
Early days for the app development hasn't been a huge market for carplay or android auto devices on motorbikes. With chigee carpuride and others on the market, I think the nav app development will rapidly improve. Dont think the cardo app works over android auto yet that would be a handy addition. Market has needed a kick up the backside for so long, garmin have used the bikers as a cash cow for too long.
@@TheStammeringBiker question.. if I want to use the wonderwheel with chigee I press the menu button to the top for 2-3 sec and it changes from TFT to NAV (saw this on video). How to get back to and use wonderwheel with TFT again?

Saw that earlier, I’m very very happy about it 😎
I will wait that upgrade for sure !

Garmin needs to up their game significantly.
I'll stick to my XT for now, but nice video.

Hey same thing applies yes! The automation will work for any device connected (or should do)
@@TheStammeringBiker Just noticed that when I applied the automation I noticed that Navigation and Phone were greyed out......cheers again .......
Is your bike working all right now you’ve changed your TFT ?
Seems to be so far! The original issue didn’t present itself until about 8000 miles into owning it though so fingers crossed
I've got to get me one of these 👍👍👍
Nice video buddy great info im doing the Carpuride 702 Pro soon 👍🏻
Look forward to that buddy! The screen on the Pro seems brighter than the one I’ve got 😎

Can it be locked into the cradle.

If you have an issues , the iphone might only need to be turned off and on periodically, for chigee or for normal use
