    I own a 22 RT. For a long time i did have the same problem. About a month ago, i deleted the app and reinstalled it. Ever since I reinstalled the app, i have had no issues connecting or staying connected as long as i ride (including multiple stops). It takes under 1 minute to complete the whole process of connection. In the past, when the map broadcast sign was looking to connect, i hit the radio button (programed 4 buttons), and then the navigation button, (programed as well) and immediately it would connect and display map and directions. Try deleting and reinstalling the app and I am sure you will be done with this issue. I would rather use the dash display as it is bigger and easier to operate while riding (no need to come off the handle bar), to see the upcoming turns and judge how sharp they are/how fast to enter it. Good luck P.S if that does not solve your connection issues after reinstalling the app, try hitting the radio and then Nav buttons in this order. Also, make sure your Wi-Fi and GPS are enabled on your phone b4 you start the bike.

    I have a Chigee lite and an older RT (2011) but hoping to upgrade to the 21 (or later) soon. I will be moving my Chigee over. A neat install option is a RAM base plate between the TFT and screen, then an arm and then the Chigee just above the TFT where you have the front camera. I'd then have the front camera on the small plastic plate behind the small clear wind deflectors (Although if there's room for the camera and RAM plate it would be ideal, I think you'd have space). I ride using the rear camera as a mirror when not using maps so the closer to my eye line the better

    I would prefer the AIO-5 BMW version because of the seamless integration with the bike and the access to all the bike’s information, even though that version doesn’t have the cameras.

      Yea, I wish that version had cameras, cause then I'd buy it and put the navi on the RT and then I'd be set! 👍👍

      Yep, same for me.
      I’m using the Nav VI (no issues), and mostly toggle between map (20%) and bike-data (80%) screen mode. I’m running REVER on the phone.
      IF the AIO came out with cameras AND the BMW wheel tie-in, I’d consider spending the money to replace the Nav VI.

    The Aoocii has the GPS built right into the unit. This doesn’t require you to find a place on your bike to place the GPS as you do with the Chigee.

    Been seeing a lot of good reviews about the Chigee. I am very tempted to get the AIO-5 BMW for my 2018 K1600. I recently purchased the motorcycle for long distance traveling. In the meantime I got one of those phone mounts that go in the K1600 GPS spot. Downside is even being as tall as I am (6'2") it is a reach when on the bike to make adjustments on my phone. Plus my phone does not like summers in the desert where I live. 😀

    Finally, this is the first video that I’ve watched with the Chigee and the 10.25 inch TFT like I have on my ‘23 GT. I’ve been struggling for years with my NAV 6 and with the Connected App. I put a lot of miles on every year, this year I did 12k kms in Europe (I leave one there), 5.8K kms in Africa (rental) and 13k kms on my GT between British Columbia and Texas. My Nav 6 had the same problems as everyone else’s except I don’t want it to freeze and stop working as I descending down an Italian mountain side and I need to know do I make a left or right at the dead end coming up. So disappointed in the Connected App I had my NAV 6 mounted on my GT similar to your RT in fact. Still having problems even with the final revised NAV 6. I am ready to try something like the Chigee and was really liking what I saw here until I saw that it is not removable. The BMW version doesn’t have the cameras which I would like. Oh, these pleasure problems! Question: are you able to use Google Assistant to control your mapping software? BTW, I rode through your area last year as I rode up to Norway.

    Too much of my already distracted focus is required to become adept with the latest version electronic device. What I find completely illogical, is what we achieve with distraction devices. I do use a Garmin - specifically to aid my finding point B in the safest manner I can create. To each - more good to you in finding solutions - and not a wreck.

    I have a 2019 RT. Imagine my delight when I tried to use the Nav 6, its pathetic that BMW/Garmin have been unable to resolve the issues associated with the nav system. Have given up and replaced the Nav 6 with a modestly priced smartphone. There are a few solutions out there and after some searching around and found a bracket that holds a phone and takes its power from the Bike using the mount setup identical to the Nav 6. power to the phone is via USB C from the bracket. This phone has only one job, it is the nav system. Uses GPS only so no ongoing costs no network connection required.
    My other phone supplies music if I want it. I could also drop in the sim to the new phone if the old fails for any reason.
    Its not the prettiest set up but reliable and effective.
    The RT is a great motorcycle, Garmin apparently make decent nav systems, together they managed to make a mess of something that should be so simple.
    I use the nav 6 as an ornament in the workshop. Costs for the new set up, $45 for the bracket and $200 for the phone.

    My BMW Connected still has a lot of connectivity issues and takes FOREVER to connect properly on my F900XR, in as so much as it delays me getting going to ensure I have ride tracking and active mapping. As well, when the phone is disconnected in areas with no cellular, the Connected App will refuse to work until cellular data is re-established. Probably the only thing that I really dislike about my BMW bike when it's not working. Sometimes redoing the connection to the bike will get it to work when it refuses to connect at times. Generally , I give it 2 to 3 min to get connected for BMW Connected, which is CRAZY STUPID. Thanks for the review on the Chigee!

    Thanks for another video on the RT. I'm still considering buying this bike, but the problems with connecting my phone to the bike, the pocket for my phone being too small, and having to hold my phone with the screen unlocked all the time are seriously putting me off. The new RT 1300 will probably have Android Auto, and I wonder if that will solve the problems or if it will be just as bad.

    Done 400 km on my new RT love it. Figured out I disabled auto connect to my headset from phone and only set it up to connect between phone and RT same with WiFi and it works OK however I run a HUD from Tilsberk and use calimoto on my other bike and still want to use that. Shame the RT don't run android auto. My question is why not use the mobile instead of the unit you added obviously I get it about the front and rear camera but if that's excluded just using the mobile should do the trick right?

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, yes and no, I've had smartphones shut off due to being too hot in the sun while mounted to handlebar and also while in my chest pocket of my jacket (even in northern Germany), which then of course the navi on the RT does not work. But each time this happens, I then put the phone in the RT's smartphone compartment and it cools down and works. Plus the smartphone was never designed for being exposed to the elements of a motorcycle environment & take that kind of punishment. Inside a car sure but now hold the phone out the window of a car, that is what we are doing when it's mounted to the handlebar of a motorcycle. If you exchange your phone every year or two that's ok (because the next guy that inherits the phone has the problems) but if your are like me I keep them for a long time & that kind of punishment adds up over time and the phone eventually starts to fail, this is what has happened to 2 of my past smartphones, they just gave up the ghost after about 2-3 seasons of being mounted the handle bar.
      Glad you like the RT, it's a great bike, I love mine.
      Take care, Scott

    On my 2022 R1250RT, I need to manually connect to the Wi-Fi Network "2W-Wifi-64:05:e4:6b:9b:a8" which pops up on my phone and requires you to press the "Join" button. I need to do this every time I start the bike; such a hassle. I swear, if this bike wasn't as good as it is, I would trade it in because their proprietary app is just awful. Thanks for your videos very interesting! I’ve just bought a 2024 blue sport 2 R1250 RT. It was a dream motorbike for me. This is my first BMW after years of Honda various models. Just Subscibed your channel, also. My name is Pierluigi (“Pigi”) and I’m a 66 rider from Milan, Italy. See you! 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

    I don’t understand why the Motorrad don’t give us the option of Apple Car play or Android Auto play when their cars have this option. You only need to pay a one time cost of about USD250-300 and they can hook it up for you for their cars; well at least where I’m from 😅

    Bought one for my "19 1250RT.(Analog Dash). FYI It Doesn't work with the BMW multimedia control wheel. Excellent screen and touchscreen sensitivity but the Android icons too small to touch with gloves on.

    I bought a new 2024 RT, my dream bike, knowing full well BMW's solution was an awful one. I pressed my old Pixel 5 into service to test the app, since I wasn't willing to allow that app to cripple my main phone just to run the app in the foreground. I'm at the point where I am going to wipe my old Pixel 5 and put it back into storage because the app constantly disconnects for no logical reason. I've had to factory reset the phone for it to work, and it's only a matter of time before I get a 'WiFi' error because map mode stops working and I rinse and repeat. I work in IT, this type of shit is my bread and butter and I hate it. Now I'm back to utilizing my actual phone on my quadlock wireless charging system just as I've done for years.
    All of this because BMW thinks they can do it better, but they just cannot compete with the existing solutions that are tried and true. This connected ride ecosystem is arguably the worst thing about their new bikes. Had they just retained the dedicated GPS mounting setup they've had for years, we could at least choose for ourselves whether we want the OEM Garmin or something like you're showing us. Either way, it would be a clean looking install. BMW needs to swallow their pride and admit they aren't up to the task of modern infotainment solutions. They need to pay the licensing fees for Apple and Android so people can have a good infotainment experience. Let me use my phone NATIVELY. It just works. It's the standard that people want and expect. For better or worse, our phones are the hub in our daily lives.

      @@SoDakTwisties I totally agree 👍 how this got past R&D is beyond me , it’s a total nightmare being in a group ride and everyone having to wait for you and you phone to connect 🤨

      Ensure your bike's firmware is up to date. I also use Pixels, currently a 7. I commute on my R1250RS and notice as I stop and start my bike through a day, that it takes a little bit longer each time to connect. Then I reboot my phone and this resets that timer.
      So if I'm going to be riding that day, I make sure I reboot my phone in the morning and then I usually don't have issues. If I do this for more than few days then I have issues until I reboot the phone again.
      Shouldn't have to do this at all. BMW's Bluetooth software is clearly still faulty.

      @@Pyrrho_ The dealer has kept my bike overnight a few times for service, and I'd like to think they'd make sure I'm on the latest firmware. At the end of the day, I don't really care for BMW's infotainment/nav solution and I'm just over it. My phone being mounted and wirelessly charged on my QuadLock is what I've done for years and it just works. I love the bike, and it's just this one thing I hate. I love tech, but not this tech. BMW are on some serious drugs.

      @@SoDakTwisties Firmware isn't updated unless it's either needed as part of the service (eg, adding OEM alarm, in response to a service bulletin) or specifically requested by the customer. It updates over a slow OBD2 connector and some updates require many modules be updated and it can take an hour or more. Dealerships don't have extra equipment lying around to do these updates, they cost lots of money, and this the reason for only doing updates when asked or needed.

    Why on earth would you buy a chigee rather than use you phone as a satnav? Chigee copies your phone, you still need it with you, the phone battery drains...

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Put the phone in the phone compartment where it is safe from the elements and is also charging, USB or inductive, so no draining the battery. And Chigee has its own GPS receiver that is separate from the device and is mounted where you choose on the bike, so you have the same satellite reception as a Garmin/TomTom, if not better imho. And the front and rear cameras in a looped recording for CYA and blind spot detection and since it's android auto, it's the same as if your phone was right there but it's not, it's safe and secure in the phone compartment.
