Vitamin D drops depends on where you live! My baby is formula fed and in Alberta. I was told by multiple nurses and her pediatrician to add vitamin D to her formula as we really need it here, especially in winter. Plus there is no guarantee they will get enough vitamin D depending on how much formula they are ingesting.
Thank you this is so helpful! Our lease ends on the 10th and I’m due on the 16th so we’re really trying to keep things to a minimum for an easy move (either with a newborn or days away from giving birth)!
This really is such a good list! I am a first time mom of a 4 month old and could not agree more with everything you said 🙌🏻 We only had one sleep sack for a couple weeks after initially transitioning to them from swaddles and quickly realized we need two because our son is prone to blowouts 🙈🤣
I am due in June, your videos have been kinda helping me put together my options and compile everything in a fairly easy manner. Thank you for making content, it is greatly appreciated!
I know this is a rare form of feeding but ng and g tube feeding as I am mom who had to learn the tube feed routine as a cleft mom. I love your videos and you have gave me so much helpful advice on minimizing my baby items since i also live in a small home as well.
Some people don't use diapers and use elimination communication. So even diapers aren't really an essential, although most ECers use them occasionally.
we need more of these types of videos - we live in such a consumerist society. I am planning for baby #3 to literally have the bare minimum! I much prefer buying as I need. Within online shopping you can get anything you need super quick! I agree with baby nail clippers 😝
I started with 4 burp cloths and reordered them one package at a time a few more times as the need presented itself. We still use them all up between laundry days even though we have 16! Spit up abounds 😬
@@taylorswf23 my older one is almost 13. She still has some reflux issues. But she wasn't fussy she would just projectile spit and tons of it. My youngest is 5 months and hers is seriously copious. Sometimes it bothers her but most of the time, no.
I debated getting a diaper pail but I decided to get one solely because my dogs are very ornery and that was I can put it in the nursery and close the door and they won’t be able to get to it. I’d love to avoid finding a poopy diaper torn up and smushed into the couch 😹
I was a nanny for a family with two dogs and they could get into the diaper genie!! I might recommend a trash can with a lock for the lid when you leave the house at least! We were constantly cleaning up diapers all over the floor
Why no baby bathtub? My bathtub at home has these terrible doors on it and it’s too difficult / painful to reach over the tracks to wash a baby. We’re planning on using a folding baby bath in the kitchen sink.
I think the situation is different for everyone. I'll copy one of her answers to another comment: She said "Hi! I’ve talked about it in other videos so I didn’t go into detail in this video! Basically I put towels down and just laid rook down to bath him in the tub. Now that he’s older we just shower him with josh! I go into detail in this video! th-cam.com/video/jKG7_4WtIdY/w-d-xo.html"
Hi! How do you not use a baby bath? Genuinely curious, do you just lay him in the bath or get in with him? How does this work? I have a baby boy on the way in June! All for tips and tricks and saving money!

Have have 2 kids never used a baby bath . Bathing with them is so easy ,I’d hop in the tub and use a bouncy seat beside the tub take them in when your ready for them and both hop out at the same time.If your trying to save money buy one second hand you can get the tubs cheap on a Facebook or buy sell page if you would be more comfy with a baby tub.
Did anyone else just bite there babies nails off with there teeth? Lol. Just me??? My MIL actually told me to do it because its easier than using baby clippers. And then I just use a light nail file if I needed to.
I'm sure you know this, but I would be super careful! My mom ended up in the hospital from biting her nails. She accidentally broke some skin and got an infection and her arm/hand/fingers swelled. They told her it could've gotten to her blood and could've been extremely dangerous.
This was knowledgable. I have been trying to research for a TH-cam vid like yours that breaks down the topics in this TH-cam video! 👍 The part at 1:23 is so knowledgable. Your lesson totally is like the channel of Dr Ethan! Dr Ethan's demonstrations are actually educational and he really helped me on exams. He is a cool med student in Nottingham! I suggest you see his page out and give the medical student a like here! 👉 #DrEthanOnline
I’m just curious, what did you use to wash your baby? And what did you use to sooth your baby if you couldn’t hold them? And did you not swaddle them at night? I still stand behind the monitor unless your baby is sleeping in your own room ☺️. As for the diaper pail, I meant just any container to hold the dirty diapers haha. I would love to hear what worked for you!
@@AshleyEmbers I used a body wash once, but it caused a rash, so I don't use anything other than plain water. Ways to entertain him: hanging toys that we put above the crib, listening to music on TH-cam, putting him in the stroller, putting him on the ground (near toys) or in the high chair near me so I can talk to him and work something else... I live in a tiny apartment (54 square meters) so I don't have a place for a bouncer, plus I don't really need a monitor, even if he was in another room. Our room has no door in order to have more space, so I think I will hear him even if he is in another room. I didn't buy a carrier because I didn't think it is an essential. We really try to buy only essentials because in my country (in Europe) stuff are almost the same prices as in Canada/USA, but the salaries are so low compared to them. I feel like we have another version of minimalism over here. We just try to be creative as much as we can with what we have. We try to embrace the wabi sabi :) I really liked your video where you talked about it, I would really like to see more videos like that. Embracing imperfection in motherhood during a pandemic, trying to enjoy the small things, hygge etc.
Wow that is a very small home! It makes sense then why you don’t have some of those items 😄. And I would love to make more videos on wabi Sabi! Thanks for sharing your insight!
So true 😅 for Europe this is not an essential list at all! Also in Austria everyone (doc, midwife) recommends washing your baby only with water because it’s healthier
@@katerinailievska5673 i agree 100%, although I have to say a baby carrier saved my life! It allows me to do stuff at home especially during the first few months when the baby basically wants to be carried all the time. I wore my eldest until she was about 2 yrs old-- I can go to the grocery without having to run around and chase her, we can do public transpo and go to the mall without having to bring a stroller around.
Die hard fan right here! You’re content is so relaxing and you are honestly the only mom i can relate to on TH-cam!🔥
Wow thank you so so much!

Wonderful video! Could you do a video of all the baby and mommy freebies that you can get in Canada (specially Vancouver)?
That's a great idea! Also Ashley, I'd be happy to offer that info for Moms in Ontario if you want. I got more freebies than I needed!

Loved this video! So helpful even though we have another kiddo, so easy to blackout the baby days once they've passed 🥴

You sound like me. I bought a pk of muslin rags that had 8 and wound up going back and buying 10 more BC I have reflux babies 🤦
@@Arkiegirl26 are your babies fussy with reflux? My girl is happy and doesn’t seem to mind the spit up... which makes me hesitant to say it’s reflux.

Does the ergobaby embrace work for petite people? We have their omni 360 and its so big and bulky and just doesn't work for my 5'3" frame.
What time will the live chats for the Ember tier be? I'm in Europe, so I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to join any of them.
It isn’t decided yet! I’m going to chat with all the Ember Patrons and decide when works best!
thank you u help us so much!
I wish I had seen this before I bought so much junk for my baby! I heard you say you need a “took” for cold weather. What is that?

Mamas, you don't need a body wash, a baby monitor, a carrier, a bouncer, a diaper pail and swaddles. At least I don't have these things.
