I thought they said they were done with the wood finishing series after the BEP. I'm not overly fond of them to begin with, so it's disappointing that they're essentially doing more of the same.
It's also odd that one of the reasons MM wouldn't do a longer aged whiskey was their belief that there were too many tannins, but their wood finishing bourbons can be super tannic, and in a non-pleasing way. The reason cellar aged is even a thing is they essentially let it "age" in a cold environment so barrel tannins were reduced.
This just makes no sense, to slow the aging on CA, but load tannins into younger whiskey.

I absolutely love a Maker's store pick. I was lucky enough to find this one, at MSRP in Virgina last week. Is it my favorite? No Is it better than some of the store picks I have? No. Will it open up? We'll see! Thanks for the review guys!

Normally I’m aligned on most of the reviews here- but my palate was totally different on this bottle. Hope it’s not a laser code conspiracy! I felt this was very similar to Ben holladay soft red wheat rickhouse proof- but better! Agree to disagree on this one fellas! 😁
